On Behalf of My People!

IT’S AMAZING—though rarely reported—that, had President Bill Clinton granted executive clemency to Leonard Peltier in 2001—which, of course, he spinelessly did not—Senator Hillary Clinton would now be the Democratic nominee and likely next President of the United States of America .

WELL BEFORE the January 2008 Iowa caucuses that propelled Barack Obama to his stunning win over Hillary in the primaries, Hollywood mogul David Geffen—a longtime Clinton supporter—announced he was putting his money in 2008 on Obama, for whom he threw a lavish Hollywood fundraiser  in Dec. '07 —because Spineless Bill, cowering before overt FBI pressure, had refused to grant long-expected executive clemency to Leonard Peltier, a man both he—and especially the FBI—KNEW and KNOW to be INNOCENT of the FBI’s illegally trumped-up charges of killing two FBI agents in the 1976 so-called “Incident at Oglala.”

PRISON LIFE is Leonard's Sun Dance, his sacrificial suffering on behalf of his People.  He will be 64 next week (Sept.12, 2008), has been falsely imprisoned since he was 31, and every one of the 11,000-plus days he's spent in prison has left its mark on his soul. His very life is an ACCUSATION against those who put him—a man they know to be innocent—where he is for 3-plus decades now.  He should not suffer another hour for the 'crime' of being an Indian.

I SAY TO THE FBI, pleading from my deepest Soul, allow this innocent man to spend the final years of his life with his People.  No admissions need be made.  Give Leonard and his People the release that millions around the world have prayed and worked for and continue praying and working for.  He's been a Symbol for long enough.    Let him go. Practice a bit of Redemption and you may receive some yet for yourselves.

I HAVE LONG CALLED for a BLANKET PARDON from the President forALL PERSONS involved in the 'Reign of Terror' at Pine Ridge during the years 1973 (Wounded Knee II) to 1976  (Oglala firefight) and after--whether Indians, AIMsters, GOONs, paramilitary, FBI, BIA, whomever--lift ALL potential charges on ALL the individuals involved.  Let those involved in those tragic days breath free air again--retired Special Agents fearing prosecution if the truth were revealed, as well as Mr. Peltier and even newer victims of ongoing judicial/govt misconduct such as Arlo Looking Cloud and John Graham.

MR PRESIDENT, tear down this WALL OF SHAME!  Let's cleanse ourselves--ALL of us. Let's turn to the new millennium while a dwindling number of old-timers, guilty or not, concern themselves with Eternity and not the "Reign of Terror."

PLEASE, if you care, FWD this email to comments@whitehouse.gov
Add your own comments and please CC a copy to me  as well as toinfo@barackobama.com   .

Blessings & Strength to all—we’ll be needing plenty of both in the weeks and months ahead.  Leonard has a rare formal parole hearing in December 2008—last month of Bush’s reign.  Should he be denied, his next parole hearing will not be until2017.  Please act NOW!!

A HOOKER?

I won't say who it was but when one of the men in my family married a white woman he gave his then fiance profound insights into what was to become part of her life. Of the things he told her the words didn't click and make sense until after they were married. She told me his words were, "...if you marry me you will lose the luxury of a first impression".

She came to understand the first impression always belongs to white people. The impression Black people work for is the second one. That is the one that counts. That is the one that settles in dispelling the first and unoriginal one! That is where the real selling comes in to play with perception. I should start a series of stories on this, but I think there are more than enough circulating in memory to do the job of surfacing the deep seated prejudices that stir the proverbial pot whites and Blacks like to piss in to keep the dramas going.

the Story of of freedom fighting!

Danièle Watts, star of Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, wrote on her Facebook page: “I remembered the countless times my father came home frustrated or humiliated by the cops when he had done nothing wrong, ” she wrote. ” I felt his shame, his anger, and my own feelings of frustration for existing in a world where I have allowed myself to believe that “authority figures” could control my BEING… my ability to BE!!!!!!!” But, that wasn't enough to use better judgement when the police approached her like she was a whore making out with a trick in public, who was actually her white boyfriend! If I read the story right she walked away from the first approach talking to her father on her cell phone. The second approach by two officers she refused to, or didn't show I.D. to the officers, which in their minds was justification for arresting her. Vagrancy is just enough of a charge to mark a spotless record. All 'they' want is one opportunity to blemish a name, and a vagrancy charge can, and countless times has been a reason to deny opportunities to Black Americans for well over a century or two.

With those memories and stories of her father deep within her what was her thinking process at that moment? Was she feeling the white girl vibe in Hollywood? Were the voices of her ancestors and her father's angst fueling the strong fight she owns? Or was simply being accused of being a whore worth fighting for; worth fighting against a superior attitude, and the assumption the surrounding area conceivably could have of her because she is Black and with a white man? It is fair to assume the area she was in was a white area. No other community would entertain the idea of the actress being a whore. There might be some Black men ticked off at the white boyfriend, and certainly the sisters would be giving her looks, but any disrespect beyond that would not involve the police! Calling the police because you don't like seeing someone kissing one of your own? That's a white people thing!

Should she be upset enough to level the thrust of her outrage to the surrounding community? After all, police reflect the attitudes, cultural bias, and assumptions of the community they serve. My last question is simple. Should she have just complied without complaint and found another way to voice the injustice of the officer's approach to their faces? There are questions about the legitimacy of women's rights to expression and interracial dating/marriage at work here. How we internally deal with the above raised questions are determinate factors of our nation's cup of perception!

FIRST AMERICAN CITY BOMBED

Question: "What was the name of the R&B group whose name honored Black Wall Street? If this piece is to be titled let it be the name of Blacks and Whites referred to this community with its wealth and self-sufficiency."
Black Wall St.- the killing

One of the nation's worst acts of American terrorism and racial violence, the Tulsa Race Riot, occurred there in late May and early June 1921, when 35 square blocks of homes and businesses were torched by mobs of angry whites.

The riot began because of the alleged assault of a white elevator operator, 17-year old Sarah Page, by an African American shoe shiner, 19-year old Dick Rowland (the case against Mr. Rowland was eventually dismissed). The Tulsa Tribune got word of the incident and chose to publish the story in the paper on May 31, 1921. Shortly after the newspaper article surfaced, there was news that a white lynch mob was going to take matters into its own hands and kill Dick Rowland.[6]

A group of armed white men congregated outside the jail and, subsequently, a group of African American men joined the assembled crowd in order to protect Dick Rowland. There was an argument in which a white man tried to take a gun from a black man, and the gun fired a bullet up into the sky. This incident promoted many others to fire their guns, and the violence erupted on the evening of May 31, 1921. Whites flooded into the Greenwood district and destroyed the businesses and homes of African American residents. No one was exempt from the violence of the white mobs; men, women, and even children were killed by the mobs.

Troops were eventually deployed on the afternoon of June 1, but by that time there was not much left of the once thriving Greenwood district. Over 600 successful businesses were lost. Among these were 21 churches, 21 restaurants, 30 grocery stores and two movie theaters, plus a hospital, a bank, a post office, libraries, schools, law offices, a half-dozen private airplanes and even a bus system. Note—It was a time when the entire state of Oklahoma had only two airports, yet six blacks owned their own planes.

It was suspected by many blacks that the entire thing was planned because many white men, women and children stood on the borders of the city and watched as blacks were shot, burned and lynched. In addition, some of the black-owned airplanes were stolen by the white mob and used to throw cocktail bombs & dynamite sticks from the sky.[11] Property damage totaled $1.5 million (1921).[11] Although the official death toll claimed that 26 blacks and 13 whites died during the fighting, most estimates are considerably higher. At the time of the riot, the American Red Cross estimated that over 300 persons were killed. The Red Cross also listed 8,624 persons in need of assistance, in excess of 1,000 homes and businesses destroyed, and the delivery of several stillborn infants.[6] - source unknown

... from the wreckage a child pulled another out. What did that feel like in the scope of the terror white inflicted upon the town? How did it ripple throughout the years of his life?

Man's body of elements & energies

Uranus and Pluto's Transformation Timetable:
Sept. 19, 2012 Square Forces Issues Around Virgo, Health

The current cycle began on October 9, 1965, when Uranus and Pluto reached the same degree in Virgo, creating a relationship called a conjunction. They formed two more exact conjunctions in April and June 1966.

These planets' explosive fusion demanded change and began a new era centered around Virgo themes of health, purity, independence, pets, service, jobs, daily routine, practicality, food, and the connections between mind and body. Many developments since the mid-1960s have expressed Virgo's changeable, "end of a season" energy by helping us clear out the old to make way for the new.

Several changes have addressed this health-conscious sign's earthy preoccupation with the body. On the material plane, we have seen obsession (Pluto) and fads or sudden changes (Uranus) in diet, exercise, food, and the medical industry. On the spiritual plane, we have seen great evolution (Pluto) in human understanding of the links among mind, body, and spirit as well as tremendous interest in meditation and alternate (Uranus) approaches to health and wellness.

When the second Uranus-Pluto square occurs on September 19, the Sun will be in Virgo, which will shine a light on all things associated with this sign and bring our attention to what we seeded in the mid-1960s. It also will push us to evaluate what has worked, what has become oppressive (Pluto), and what must change (Uranus) to fulfill the ideals of purity and perfection we aspired to in the mid-1960s.

Balance harshness with caring, compassion

The Sun's placement in Virgo will give us the sharp eye for details and deep analytical skills needed to see clearly, while Uranus retrograde in Aries inspires us with courage to go within and face our truth and Pluto in Capricorn gives us the strength to make difficult, long-term changes built on integrity. These signs can be harsh, however: Virgo's ability to spot flaws can become relentless self-criticism and even chronic self-hatred, Aries's swift action can be self-absorbed and heedless of having to consider others' needs, and Capricorn's persistence and ambition can become joyless workaholism and even cynical materialism.

To counter these tendencies, draw on emotions, intuition, and deep spiritual values to support holistic, balanced change. The first Uranus-Pluto square on June 24 occurred when the Sun was in Cancer, a watery, sensitive, emotional sign associated with mothers, women, and children. We can use these qualities to set a caring tone for the entire Uranus-Pluto process: remember Cancer's nurturing qualities and take extremely good care of yourself during this challenging time. Also, be sure to extend compassion not only to yourself but to others, who are enduring their share of challenges at this time.

Cancer's association with food also reminds us to restore balance in all areas related to health and nourishment. Virgo's influence has helped many people realize the importance of pure food and drink and a healthy body, but in excess this energy has produced a culture of criticism and judgment, an era of "food police" and petty moralizing that rates foods as "good" or "bad," and a tendency to idealize impossible standards of beauty and austere obsession with exercise.

That makes this a powerful time to evaluate our relationship to food and exercise and heal any judgment or other negativity so we can restore reverence for the human body as the earthly temple for the eternal soul. Virgo's emphasis on details and desire for perfection can make us forget the true purpose of health: to enable us to feel happy and well in order to pursue our spiritual evolution and assist others through service (Virgo).

Support mental health

Despite being an earth sign, Virgo is strongly mentally focused because of its ruler, airy Mercury. As a result, this second Uranus-Pluto square offers a good time to assess our mental health. Ubiquitous technology, widespread noise pollution, loss of open space and connection to nature, and a 24/7 culture have placed extreme pressure on the human nervous system. A poor economy has added to this pressure, forcing many people to overwork without proper rest or vacation just to survive.

Given these challenges, many people already are experiencing classic Virgo symptoms of imbalance via chronic worry and stress; these are increasing the Virgo tendency to perfectionism, self-criticism, and martyrdom. Without relief, those affected may experience a racing mind, insomnia, self-neglect, and serious illness. These conditions may lead to depression, dependence on medication to get through the day, or even addictions of all kinds in a desperate attempt to cope. Yet the same nervous sensitivity that causes us to feel stresses acutely can help us gain the clarity we need to recognize imbalance and take steps toward healing.

Restore balance by recalling ideals

As you experience the Sun's journey through Virgo this year (which continues through September 22) as well as the September 19 Uranus-Pluto square, take time to notice what happens and how it affects you. Also notice how you feel and what you need to assure your comfort during this difficult time. You may find it helpful to spend time alone in nature to help nurture yourself and reconnect with the Earth's life-giving essence.

Use Virgo's sharp analysis to see all that's gone wrong. Then ask yourself what you need to improve your situation. How can you achieve balance in your diet as well as your thoughts and environment? What can you eliminate to help restore health?

Then remember Virgo's ideals and imagine how you might achieve them. For example, how do you define perfect health? What can you do now to begin moving toward that ideal? How does purity fit into your life? How can you cleanse and purify all aspects of your life to support perfect health and balance?

As you undergo this deep and healing process, may the hope of renewal remain in your heart, and may the social ideals seeded so long ago begin to flower at a higher, more caring level.
