A TRICK OF TOUCH or PERCEPTION?

Ninas por

false face false breasts.

False breasts and identity and
False is in and posing as the way to go, and boast about. How? What within us agreed to not being authentic?
It is a fundamental question to existence. One's own existence is important now or near death. After death the question rings hollow, or doesn't? I can't remember much about being killed in a past lifetime; not that detail. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11.30.13

Who is Avirl Lavigne's photographer? He or she has an excellent eye for character and the ability to distance the subjects from fame and dig into what is their sense of being purposefully at the level of achievement that made them famous. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 10.29.15

"The way women express themselves, and the way they talk revealed a great deal to me as a 15, and 16 year old boy. I was painfully shy, but determined to speak my mind freely with girls. Because my father instructed me, and an aunt informed me during ceremonial initiation the penetrations into my spirit parted the proverbial waters of perceptions. In this way, (I didn't have this language back then) in a glance I understood the difference between expression and talk. Alone with this I learned to speak easier and easier with the girls in school, and later wandering the streets of Washington DC on my own I put into practice the spiritual teachings of being alone, together, and a part of divinity belonging to the women I met." - Gregory E. MYSTERY STORY

Artwork of Nicole Kallenberg

There is always a sense of ourselves, a manifestation of who we are, the spirit of who we are visible to some eyes, sensed by some senses, and discerned by the living breath of redemption, songs sung, and the memories of our changes that is the spirit, or shadow or the aura of every person.

How it is captured by the brush, a glimpse, photography, poetry, music or the re-telling of story is dependent upon the creativity one can muster up from within to make sense of the mystical, the magical parts of life and living that don't need to makes sense or agree with cultural rational. Such is the art of the artists, sculptress, the Creator and the Creatress alive or dormant within us who is us at the same time in a moment the mystery of our unfolding!

I see all of these things in this one image you've created. I am reminded of all this in what you've done with your art. Thank you. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11.29.13

HOPE IN THE CITY

Stacy Renee's Art

Cities rush by us, or we feel that way as we rush through cities hurried by fear and panic at the possibility of failing, or being late for something. Forever clinging to someone else's perception of us one's youth and vitality can be sapped up by the way we had to, or felt we had to give our soul to working for a living. It is a grim choice for most it seems. For many a young woman dreams are forgotten and suddenly remembered standing where she feels naked and vulnerable in a city. For as long as it takes a light to change a decision can accompany a revelation and she or anybody can turn and walk away from it all, and take on the process of remembering themselves! ~ Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11.30.13

IT IS IN THERE

Stacy Renee's Art

"There is an abstraction and clarity that is elegant and refined. You can't define it by touch. You can look at it, and not be able to recreate the moment, or the image with words. If you do the risk of it not being perceived by another is of no more significance than being seen too much as a famous person. Some art some artists capture in their medium is created as the scribe of a timeless nuance: breath.

It is here. Right here Stacy Renee in your art as a gift to others." - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11.30.13

Thanksgiving Day to me...

Gregory E. Woods, Creek & Crow Indian African man

I am an African-American man. I am an Absaroka Muskogee Indian. I am a Keeper of Stories, and a Keeper of the Drum. The two responsibilities are related to each other, and have power in the telling today the day before Thanksgiving Day! Nothing offensive in here, but the Native story about Thanksgiving has to be told. The story is one of betrayals, and the murder celebration the immigrants held! But that story will not be told here. This story will be told:

I know a little about Turkey medicine. My friend Pam is an Eastern Band Cherokee. She taught Turkey medicine to me one day in the mountains of Virginia. I knew medicine was coming my way on the trip to the mountains. I was looking for it the whole ride up to the mountains. Just as we got to her property a large turkey walked out of the woods and collapsed dead. We stopped the car, and walked to his body, and left tobacco offerings with our prayers.

"What do we do with him?" Pam asked. "Take him to the house and listen." I said.

During the following ceremony Turkey’s spirit, in return, allowed us to take the wings, tail feathers, and the necklace the Turkey wore. We buried the Turkey in the northern part of the Medicine Wheel we had earlier built on the land. The necklace Turkey wore was given to me. Pam explained that hunters have another name for it, but she learned from watching their ceremonies the necklace under their beaks is a Medicine necklace with its own powers. Turkey’s are Keepers of Ceremony!

Pam would travel alone into the mountains and sit. She can become a ghost in the forest. Turkeys would land unaware of her and perform ceremonial dances as the sun set. She said one had to be completely still. Turkey People are very sensitive to movements subtle or not. Turkeys have a deep sense of ceremony. Deep in their dances they are balanced and attuned to the subtle elements at work around them. It is a natural teaching for the People, and by People, since we are talking about the colonial times; I am talking about Turtle Island’s indigenous people's relationship with living things, and our Grandmother Earth.

The immigrants remain, to this day, outside of these things for the most part and continually legislate and make laws from a framework that is disconnected from the subtle elements that move, engage, and try, in this day and age, to balance everything. Their paradigms have taught billions of people for the last few centuries their ways, and we all participate in the process of disrespecting our Earth, shortening our time on Earth, and neglecting our spiritual responsibilities to each other. These are my words.

Fun with gettin' old

ol' Southern white woman in living room !!!!
One thing: Women often overlook how attractive and appealing they are to us after children, a long day of work and after years have told their stories upon their bodies. Older women with the variety of body changes who exude certain intangible powers and scents hold so many men and husbands captive. Many women are fond of discounting the affect of care, and reciprocation in a relationship's ability to arouse their husbands sexually.

A lot of women don't want to hear those words. It is annoying at best for us husbands to hear our wives listening to and answering the voices in their heads when we hit on them in public wearing some tacky outfit, or we get turned on when they come out of the shower after 15+ years of marriage looking good and sexy to us in the morning!" - Gregory E. GAY OR HAPPY MARRIAGE!!

"Should government, at any level, regulate marriage be it a heterosexual or homosexual couple?" - Brian Hersey, 3.27.2010

"People wanted separation of church and state. They got it, but now want the state to redefine what the bible defines as a marriage. Seriously? Every freedom is a double-edged sword. Freedom of speech isn't just as long as it doesn't anger you...it's there.

I also don't think a government has the right to define what makes up a family. I'm for unions, including plurals among adults. Can't have the term 'marriage' though and I hold each state accountable to uphold it, but I'm all for the rights of whatever is defined as a functional and loving family." - Charles Comer, 10.16.13

"No, but it should not be redefined by them either. Next we'll have people wanting to marry their pets--or maybe even their favorite pair of shoes. Who is to say that marriage should have to be between people. Marriage is ordained of God and needs to stay that way. Have any relationship you wish but leave the definition of marriage alone and let people have the religious freedom promised in the constitution." - Tom Martin 11.24.13

"Marriage was and is, first and foremost, a private (in most cases, religious) affair. The gov't decided to recognize and facilitate the institution of marriage with financial and legal privileges in order to encourage responsible procreation. Growing the US population grows the US economy, and thus tax base, workforce, ie. number of employers and employees, fills out the military ranks for a strong national defense, etc. The gov't has a state interest in encouraging population growth, which is why the public institution was established with certain regulations, benefits and purposes in mind. The gov't did not establish the public institution of marriage to recognize people's "love" for each other, "love" is neither a legal requirement nor justification for getting married, the gov't could care less whether two persons getting married "love" each other. The gov't recognizes marriage for one reason: to encourage conception, birth, and responsible child-raising--a purpose which same-sex couples cannot contribute towards because last time I checked, it is impossible for two persons of the same gender to impregnate one another. It's not discrimination, it's biology. If the state interest in population growth is no longer relevant, then the gov't should abolish the institution--which is clearly being bastardized now for political ends--and allow the private sector (e.g. the Church) to resume its prerogative to recognize marriage according to its rules & purposes." - Dan Frazee, 8.12.13

Remember the Soul!

"Remember that imagination is the faculty of the soul and that when it suggests new pathways to us we are being invited to explore the territory of the soul in ways that will certainly change and re-enchant us. You are facing in the right direction. All you need to do is keep on walking!" - Jerry Straley (Red Hawk)

Memorials: black blood, red land

Lincoln Memorial & the Washington Monument by Kimberly Suiters, ABC news reporter (Sept. 1, 2014)

That is the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument on the right. Now that running trail I believe is on the Virginia side of the Potomac River. African slaves built these buildings, these tributes to achievement.
The land was once the ancestral home of the Anacostia, the Piscataway nation and a few other tribes. Of the tribes in Washington DC proper the Anacostia were wiped off the face of the Earth, our Mother by the whites. The Piscataway are small, but presently living in the area. There are six nations in Virginia. The other Indians, myself included, hail from other parts of Turtle Island. - Gregory E. Woods (Dawn Wolf) Muskogee, African & Absaroka (11/23/15)

Birth into Soul Sickness

Raven Le Faye posing for Rouge Vogue magazine

artistic interpretation of Arab women's stuggles

"Physical harm, yet the extent of its destructive toll is already greater than that of any war, plague, famine, or natural calamity on record - and its potential damage to the quality of human life and the fabric of civilized society is beyond calculation. For that reason this sickness of the soul might well be called the 'Fifth Horseman of the Apocalypse.' Its more conventional name, of course, is dehumanization." - Ashley Montagu

“When your 'dream come true', your Beloved sends you away multiple times does that mean something? Time doesn't heal all wounds. How does, or does a soul recover from that? If her love and spirit, ever a part of your essence, is as alive as the first day what counsel is there for the heart still singing her songs? If love is eternal where it lives what does it become without reciprocation?” - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 12.21.12

There is a poster that reads, "We've raised enough niggas and thugs time to raise some kings!"

One woman said aloud, "Do they know how?"

I thought a moment and said, "By your question, which I take seriously, I can easily assume the onus is upon other people to raise better children. I've learned how to raise 'good' children who are above average now adults living with their own integrity because of how I was parented, and I enjoy sharing what I know, but this is not an American preoccupation. It should be but culturally we are not advancing in the art of developing children. We are more into warehousing and categorizing our children. Development is too deep an art in our country, it seems, and to many Americans outside of their priorities and belief systems."

Crow Woman

THREE

There is a story out about a Black girl who quickly and viciously beat a girl and became an insight celebrity because someone recorded it and posted it online. The police are part of this girl's life because another girl apparently committed suicide as a result of the beating. To date what I've read there are no particulars, but the girl who beat the other girl is letting her 20,000 Twitter followers know about how "... she don't give a fuck!"

No need to comment on this story. It is very much an American pastime and it is deeply embedded in Black culture and applauded.  Only thing that should be done is corrective, but if a people and a person are uninterested in changing or maturing what can you do? If someone wants to die there is little I will do for them. What can you do? To want to die is to want nothing. This girl and millions like her seek nothing, and to seek nothing is to seek death which, is the one thing people like her are typically afraid of, and don't understand in terms, and agreements of relationship.

This is a warrior's stance I am speaking from and the crudeness that celebrates this behavior calls itself a nigger and defends that assertion wholeheartedly  A healer of any race, or tribe and discipline is and will always be baffled by the nigger mentality because it devours itself. There are so many healing tools and healing modalities available to this girl, her family and community and to her people, and niggers, but if not so inclined a healer worthy of his/her craft has no choice but to leave her and them to die unto and within themselves. ~ Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11.29.13

Religion is a well-tilled field,
Planted and watered by desire
Of one who longed for Paradise,
Or one who dreaded Hell and Fire.

Aye, were it but for reckoning
At Resurrection, they had not
Worshiped God, nor did repent,
Except to gain a better lot -

As though religion were a phase
Of commerce in their daily trade;
Should they neglect it they would lose -
Or persevering would be paid.
