TODAY A DEEP LOVER
“Her neckline caught in the soft light is perfectly drawn to
connect the lines, the contours of her shoulders, and her round breasts casting
shadow into the shadows of our darkened room. It was a rare sight for sure. One
to treasure and remember for the time, the days I need to remember passion and
beauty in the dimness of business affairs, dim prospects of finding work,
making a good living, taking care of aging parents and fighting traffic to get
there.
The timeless quality of stillness around and within her, and
the full scope of what she means to me now in the light of a culture that
values beauty, and within the blink of an eye will raise up itself in arms
against women once cherished who violated some code, some cryptic code of honor,
and take her life. If I could but remember who I am in this moment maybe it
would be enough when she is older, and I am older to remember why I cherished,
and lover her so…” - © Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 12.19.12
