"We learn from the characters in stories, even as adults. They help us because we connect them to our own lives, dreams, anxieties, & consider what we would do in their shoes. Fairy tales help children, as well as adults learn how to navigate life.
Many cultures share common fairy tales as with the Abrahamic faiths. The Torah, Bible, & Quran each tell a fictional story with their own cultural flavor. These adult fairy tales provide a sense of understanding for adults who need to make sense of life with story.
The down side is that those adults, unlike children have a very hard time distinguishing fiction from reality. This teaches quite a bit about the development of the adult mind." - Theloneus Jones
