"What is the illusion we suckle on in respect to who we are and what our loyalties are?"

In Washington DC most residents of the city are loyal to the idea and practice of segregation and suppression of another for the benefit of self. It is an odd thing considering that DC is a predominately Black town. But so deep is the feeling of being subjugated Black football fans have developed an Uncle Tom-like defensive posture if the subject of changing the name of their football team is up for discussion. The impossibility of them responding intelligently to the same arguments that supported the denial of freedom and first-class citizenship for the Negro yesterday reflects a horrible story about the state of mind of White and Black Americans in the Washington DC metropolitan area today.

The relationship between whites and Blacks is long, deep and full of contradictions. Removing the obstacles to freedom seemed to be an obvious answer to what ailed the intellect, the spirit, and self-perceptions of Black people in this town, but over time, since Dr. King died, it has proven not to have been the answer. Why that isn't the answer is because the acceptance and understanding of ownership as a concept and mindset cannot enter the spheres of a slave's mindset. In the non-thinking rationalization typical of Blacks in this town ownership is the obstacle to freed minds. To make it plain let me put it in quotes, and say it this way:

"The obstacle to freedom is not owning the concept, the belief in ownership, and acceptance of what ownership is and means into the depths of who the I AM is."
