What I Remember




hair style inspired by the 1960's


I remember those days. White women did not wear their faces like they do now! There was more identity in their faces. Nothing was polished away. Dignity was primal to their sense of self in the 1960's. This pertained to women who were not hippies!

White women did not have anywhere near as much chemicals for hair as today. The typical white woman had stringy dry hair. Even though women of all eras are deeply concerned about appearances and what other women think about them white women in the '60's had a sneer reserved, and barely hidden for colored folk. It was part of their make up, and indistinguishable from their smiles that often did not reach their eyes. - Gregory E. Woods, 10.9.14
