Memorials: black blood, red land

Lincoln Memorial & the Washington Monument by Kimberly Suiters, ABC news reporter (Sept. 1, 2014)

That is the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument on the right. Now that running trail I believe is on the Virginia side of the Potomac River. African slaves built these buildings, these tributes to achievement.
The land was once the ancestral home of the Anacostia, the Piscataway nation and a few other tribes. Of the tribes in Washington DC proper the Anacostia were wiped off the face of the Earth, our Mother by the whites. The Piscataway are small, but presently living in the area. There are six nations in Virginia. The other Indians, myself included, hail from other parts of Turtle Island. - Gregory E. Woods (Dawn Wolf) Muskogee, African & Absaroka (11/23/15)
