I remember me ...

"I'm not mainstream-looking. I'm not very skinny. I'm not ...like....beautiful. The point of mainstream movies is to cast someone that everyones' going to love. Because of my persona, I'm controversial. I don't do anything in my real life to deserve that. I don't drink, I don't do drugs. But studio people don't want to put me in their movies. They think I might offend.

I never did drugs - they made me feel awful physically. Of course, I experimented, but soon I thought, 'This is not worth the shame spiral the next day'. I'm the kind of person who, if I went to a slumber party and smoked a cigarette, I assumed my parents were going to die as punishment. So I'd have to call my mom, tell her I'd smoked and feel really bad." - Christina Ricci, actress After.Life

Bitoni

Autrey Bitoni has a mysterious dark beauty. What she does with it is the responsibility of the soul, and her soul agreed to certain things important to her soul, to the essence within her body.  We are all like that. - Gregory E. Woods

GLASS & EYE .

Glass, I was taught, is liquid. Eyes, I learned, are the moist definitions of the intangible qualities of people's souls. Both are mirrors telling the truth. Being unable to lie they can only be clear until pain blurs the vision. Hurt souls can train the eyes to create the illusion of hardness to protect a vulnerable soul by learning how to alter the appearance of gentleness into something that appears menacing. A mirror cannot. It can only be itself, but the eyes can tell multiple stories until one person comes who can read the soul, and tell the story with the clarity of a mirror.

the SERPENT & the FLAME: a sacred story

What are we looking at here? Is there something violating the woman? Is this the natural projection of Eve's story? Did the prophetesses see this coming in ancient times? Is this the untold prophecy Lilith spoke in the moments after her banishment to the remnants of what was not redeemable to her Judges, but precious about who she is and was to humanity?

Every sacred story isn't filled with bliss. Every sacred story isn't suppose to entertain and leave you with a good feeling. Spiritual work and spiritual reward are not synonymous. The latter may come from the other, but reward should not be on the tip of expectations of anyone entering into the dangers of walking and working towards transformation. Transformation is nothing like the movies. It is pain and work, and substance. The hope is transformation, and transforming is within itself reward enough.

Think about the pain of being a Woman, and this drawing is a depiction of a study of the conditions of the souls of Man interpreting the plight, and the justification of Eve's disobedience.  How much suffering comes from blaming and believing in the consequences of the story chosen to represent the why of existence, or the culpability of Adam's choice  All this means something whether you believe the Hebrew story of Creation is the only story, or as I do, one of hundreds of Creation stories. - Gregory E.Woods, Keeper of Stories 1.17.13

Sweet Navel Fetish

Clean art on a splendid 'canvas' like this has its own type of magical effect upon the senses. Of course,  the splendor, and other captivating qualities are lost to a belief in the 'sin' of tattooing one's body. But, the tradition of tattoos is steeped in cultural mysticism, and the pull of symbols whose meanings preceded human life upon the Earth, our Mother. Beautiful forms, texture, suggestions and ideas spring out to me looking at this young woman's story of flesh and mystical sensibilities. - Dawn Wolf, Keeper of Stories 8.24.13
