the TAO of nonsense

It is hard not to remember the visual effect of Indonesian women's energies. They were different 40+ years ago. My youth was exciting, as well as magical, and learning how to see Asian women was fun. Each country had a certain look and feel to their women, their food, and the atmosphere of soul. These elements distinguished one country from other Asian countries, and developed Western eyes to see what they don't look like, need to understand. The hope of the exchanges over the last two centuries were lessons to learn how to act in any part of Asia, as  human beings!

For the most part, it was unsuccessful.

It is hard to put to words the magical power of learning to be less to learn more about another. It is un-American this perspective, particularly if one is a white American, or a white-thinking Colored person. You see, in every sphere of life loss of magic, the inability to connect head to heart, or having no interest in enjoying attaching magic to daily living diminishes the quality of relationships between countries.

These are things lost to President Trump, and very much a part of his riddle of existence. In diplomatic circles it is a curse, a tombstone being profoundly ignorant and disdainful of the fundamentals of human interaction. But, it is very much a part of what made 'America great'! - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11/27/17

Melanin, its place in Life.

Mold clay into a bowl. The empty space makes it useful.

"The melanin's power is enviable from the perspective of those born without it, whose pineal glands are calcified at birth! Those full in their understanding of this power are capable of the extraordinary. How do you think the processes came to the Egyptian people in the long ago that formed their architecture, sciences, healing modalities and so on?" - Dawn Wolf, Keeper of Stories 12/4/17

Study

Tao Te Ching

The oldest and major source to Taoism is Tao Te Ching (also spelled Dao De Jing), which translates to The Book on the Way and Virtue. It was written by the legendary Lao Tzu (Lao Zi) somewhere between the 6th and the 4th century BC in China. The old classic still has a lot to teach us.

Tao Te Ching consists of 81 chapters about the Way: its mystery, its cosmology, and what it teaches us about how to conduct our lives the wisest.

The Sayings of Lao Tzu in the Tao Te Ching

Here are 388 quotes extracted from the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu, the oldest and most important source to Taoism. The Tao quotes are sorted into 19 major topics. Each quote has a link to its chapter in the book.

When everyone in the world sees beauty, then ugly exists.

The highest virtue is not virtuous. Therefore it has virtue. The lowest virtue holds on to virtue. Therefore it has no virtue. [Tao Te Ching chapter 38]

51. Principle and Process

lounging naked in heels

Everything, every behavior, is a vibratory pattern or process. Such process emerges, develops, and decays, according to the single principle.

People have a natural reverence for the principle, and they naturally love the vibratory energy which obeys the principle.

The vibratory energy and the principle make a partnership, which produces an infinite variety of forms. But the partnership takes no profit from its productivity. Neither does it get its power by making things happen in a coercive manner. There are simply no alternatives; there is no other way.

This partnership between principle and process is the first fact of life and of our work.

Language heard by Soul

45

The greatest perfection seems imperfect,
And yet its use is inexhaustible.
The greatest fullness seems empty,
And yet its use is endless.
The greatest straightness looks like crookedness.
The greatest skill appears clumsy.
The greatest eloquence sounds like stammering.
Restlessness overcomes cold,
But calm overcomes heat.

The peaceful and serene
Is the Norm of the World.

Learn Through the Illusions

"The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect, but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity  The creative mind plays with the objects it loves."

~ Carl Jung b.1875

"The more you cling it, the more you lose. So knowing what is sufficient averts disgrace. Knowing when to stop averts danger. This can lead to a longer life."  from the Tao (44: 2-3)

SUN & WATER

symbol of the sun
15

The ancient adepts of the Tao were subtle and flexible, profound and comprehensive. Their minds were too deep to be fathomed. Because they are unfathomable, One can only describe them vaguely by their appearance. Hesitant like one wading a stream in winter; timid like one afraid of  his neighbors on all sides; cautious and courteous like a guest; yielding like ice on the point of melting; simple like an uncarved block; hollow like a cave; confused like a muddy pool; and yet who else could quietly and gradually evolve from the muddy to the clear? Who else could slowly but steadily move from the inert to the living?

He who keeps the Tao does not want to be full. But precisely because he is never full, he can always remain like a  hidden sprout, and does not rush to early ripening. - Lao Tzu, from TAO TEH CHING translated by John C.H. Wu

Christopher Columbus and other Europeans never discovered or had the capability to grasp, understand or internalize this philosophy until late into the 20th century. It is time to heal in a circular fashion along with our white relatives. - Dawn Wolf, Keeper of Stories 10.4.13

The symbol of the white woman is profoundly embedded within us not as a healing balm, or savior; but as an ideal, and source of envy and unattainability  It has traditionally frustrated creativity and self-expression for women of color, but for white women their angst has been insurmountable and unfair. It would not have been their choice to sit so high upon a pedestal. How could they have been women; creative, engaged women with the restraints their men placed upon them? The 20th century gave some relief.

When the white woman is freed she will become a freedom fighter for other women. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 10.4.13

How BEAUTY probes...

The highest form of goodness is like water. Water knows how to benefit all things without striving with them. It stays in places loathed by all men. Therefore, it comes near the Tao. In choosing your dwelling, know how to keep to the ground. In cultivating your mind, know how to dive in the hidden deeps. In dealing with others, know how to be gentle and kind. In speaking, know how to keep your words. In governing, know how to maintain order. In transacting business, know how to be efficient  In making a move, know how to choose the right moment. If you do not strive with others, you will be free from blame. - Lao Tzu, TAO TEH CHING, translated by John C.H. Wu

MAN & WOMAN MUST BECOME EMPTY & FULL
The Tao of Relationships

The Tao's Way is to empty when there is too much and to fill when there is not enough. Such is its way. When mind is full, it must be emptied. When empty, it must be filled with the Tao (Way). When man and woman are happily full of each other they keep the emptiness that balances the fullness. When they are unhappily full of each other and wish together to begin again, they first must empty.
