Dialogue with a man

"One of the determinate factors of who is a good man, or a good husband is how he develops an insight into patience he didn't have before, studies the questions raised by his wife's actions, and shares how he learned how to wait for his wife, and how he became patient with her over time. A crucial thing to grasp is how she redefines what patience is according to her concept of time and appropriateness.

I watched my father develop this. It took years. The management of frustration is a factor, but it is a necessary art to at least learn her perception. No, it is a skill also, and it must be mastered eventually. Yes, it is a skill, and a compromise. Every young man needs to understand the subtlest things about relationships, and marriage. The best place to learn it is from wise older cats who know this stuff, and learned it the hard way!"

"The hard way?" he looked up and asked.

"You had to ask that. There is no easy way to learn it." - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11.8.13
