LIBRA LION

Facebook Thelma Thomas: Libra Lion:

loving couple in water
Libra Lion

Libra lion,
Sits purring upon his pinnacle,
Proud with lion- tine prowess,

Longing for love is a painful task
Heart beating,
Eyes shining,
Breath retreating,
Dreams and soul entwining
In the purple melodrama
And the lover's mask.

Feel the feelings
As you dance the dream dance
Kiss the lips of your beloved's smile
Her tell-tale eyes mirror romance

Past Love spoke to you
In bitter speech,
Wounded your poor heart and fled
No destiny can your rage undo

Libra lion
Your roar fills the caverns of loneliness
Across the ages
Karma's specter
Keeps new love beyond
Your reach

ART OF WAR

Seventy-six

A man is born gentle and weak.
At his death he is hard and stiff.

Green plants are tender and filled with sap.
At their death they are withered and dry.
Therefore the stiff and unbending is the disciple of death.
The gentle and yielding is the disciple of life.

Thus an army without flexibility never wins a battle.
A tree that is unbending is easily broken.

The hard and strong will fall.
The soft and weak will overcome.

IN THE FACE OF

VISAGE

I see your face
in so many places
on this clock
I just got
to keep track
of the time
when
I see your face

I see your face
in this book
that I read
to keep pace
with the world
that I find
when
I see your face.

I see your face
in this world
that has not
gone round
the sun
that shines
when
I see your face.

I see your face
when I wake
to the bells
that only
chime
to the time
when
I see your face

The clock has stopped
The book is read
The sun has set
The dreams have come
and yet
I see your face.

Poem by Thelma Thomas

The essence of these words captures the need in the heart of a select group of men whose path requires the invaluable support of a woman deeply connected to the medicine of the Womb, the Sacred, and the Sacred Feminine.” Gregory E. Woods
For all who love.
Paths

Because I love you with a love
Yet unknown to humanity,
I shall walk by your side in silence,
While you push aside injustice and
Bring forth right.

And I shall create paths
Of beauty where you may walk
To make the bitter journey
Leave a sweeter taste
And your burdens weigh
Like summer evening light.

I shall play shadowy melodies
From chords deep
Within my soul
To soothe you
When men do not understand.

And-- if our Gods deem it
That our paths be separated,
You in all your tears
And pleasures
Shall remember
The essence of my hopes
And come forth
Once more
To walk with a heart
Wounded by life's unhappy fight,
To prove I had not loved you
For naught.

The depths of your insight into relationships, Thelma, are a challenge to an average mind, a weak vision, and the religion of selfish relationships based on conflict.” -Gregory E. Woods

a Medicine story to ponder

“Your face has the same calm in its pull on the senses of those who admire, or wish to touch the place your calmness sits upon. As you matured your face acquired a solid grounding that created its own definition of beauty. What a journey your face took telling the stories, and condition of your life, temple, temperament, education, sense of self, and the sensuality that calls the mates, and friends you have needed to live deeply. Your face hides and reveals what hides and reveals, Thelma.”  -Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories

"I made it (the dress) from a pattern provided by Whispering Winds Magazine and won first prize for Native American month at my job.  I like learning how to do things for myself and everything can be an artistic endeavor. My grandmother did and my great grandmother was a Chitimacha Medicine woman. State of Louisiana wanted to jail her for practicing medicine without license. She moved to a house boat and went up and down Bayou Teche still doing medicine. She was famous for her Water Moccasin cure and tonsil cure. She was also the tribal midwife." -Thelma Thomas

PEACE IN A WOMAN'S VOICE

“The other thing is that individuals should strive for peace within themselves and make every effort to support that first, because there is no way to have peace in a nation if that nation's individuals are fighting with themselves and their fellow countrymen. Our individual effort should be to make ourselves and our environment peaceful through the accomplishment of deeds that help one another, which all begin at home. I will now retire from my soapbox.”. - Thelma Thomas
