Technical Hunts

Texting while sexy! Unconscious has become an allure to the hunter. The phone has eased the skill level requirements of the predator. Limited peripheral vision, loss of awareness, and dulled sense of place contribute to the ease of the hunt nowadays. There is a level of stupidity our young people have embraced rendering them ignorant of a real world more dangerous than the dilemma of what some guy meant in his one-dimensional text.

Being used by a technology is a testament of weakness placing one's soul in jeopardy. Warnings are meaningless in today's world! It has affected simple things all of them gifting the hunter with more opportunities to examine the women he wants without much caution. The warrior and the hunter know the importance of awareness. In the wild, the prey's awareness keeps him alive; across the country the hunted pride themselves being unaware.

Tens of thousands of people devoted to their phones have died violently, been kidnapped, followed home to be robbed and died in car accidents. Those are meaningless deaths. None of those deaths change behavior and attitudes amongst the devotees. They carry on vaguely aware death came to the 'unawares'. Being able to block the obvious from careful consideration is now a way of life. If people want to live and die thus I leave them to that. It is the way of the warrior. - Gregory E. Girls Just Wanna Talk!

In the decades preceding now parents complained about girls, their daughters, on the phone constantly talking to their girlfriends. A lot of movies had that theme in their favor. It was such a concern, and disciplines were enforced because parents had to ensure their children's futures, and without discipline or focus they could not go far enough in life to have a good one.

Times are different in respect to the development of the phone over the last 100 years, but not in the sense that would give a recipient of Life today a feel of being better than our yesterday! The difference is simple: parents have given their children into what they do not understand. A whole chapter is being written about how disconnected from the source of Life parents have allowed their children to be led away by a technology unaccompanied by maturation of the emotions, the spirit. There are two seemingly different trains of thought or arenas of concern areas an older person (an Elder) in first: "Love our babies, who are not afraid to speak up!" and another verse that says: "You don't recognize me in real time, so our phones have become our #RealWorld!" Confused together the author of this 'observation' left this text to become (I surmise) a saying of encouragement. But, the first sentence is profound for a young person to hear who has found his or her voice in times of conformity! On second read, the second sentence does not have the bridge to connect the two subjects! The voice of the second sentence is the voice of the current generation's naivety; the first one of maturity.

We can let the first sentence go its own way because youth needs the fundamental support from Elders, in the true form and potency of that role. The second one is troubling. The implication is the children are proud of what they believe is their creation and firm in substance as reality: their disconnect from the world as it is, and has always been: multidimensional and complex by virtue of their connections between all life forms. 

The marketing started decades ago. In my lifetime I've had the pain of knowing it and learning its mechanisms. At this point momentum carries the ungrounded, and ill-informed children down a yellow brick road they could not tell the color of because the goal of disconnecting people starts during infancy. If a people without a common origin story, belonging to the same nation can not know the roots of their nation; their own understanding of self and the surrounding world is simply skewed, and they are no more than cannon fodder programmed to be victims of whatever someone else chooses. Without predators they would not know their vulnerability; without Protectors trained from the spirit to the mind millions of these children easily remain in a continued state of not knowing!

It is a chilling observation from my place understanding how and why American culture separated children from the tools they need to become impeccable, and became indifferent to teaching children's spirit has hosted the spirit and attitudes of the times, the children; and now the adults who are starting fires with their disconnected sense of space, time, people, culture related to the how of their existence, as parents!

Daughters in the vague, as vogue.

We all love innocence until it becomes stupid to be ignorant of the events swirling around us, as people are doing daily. It doesn't matter how many, or how brutally people are killed being distracted while driving, walking, riding public transportation or jogging in isolated areas; people insist upon their conveniences. It is more important than freedom.

Cell phone usage keeps women from noticing the energetic probes of danger, or admiration sent to them energetically. It is a strange thing, but it lifts predators from excessive caution while studying prey. Stalking without drawing attention to self is a skill with minimal usage in today's world with the consuming power of cell phones' illusion of necessity and identity. Easiest of targets are children and women.

"Do we help them?" a protector asks. The expected answer is yes; but 'why' as the second question leads us to a conclusion: if Life isn't precious why protect them? Protecting them from themselves is the task, and weighed against that task is it worth it?

IN the Community of Now, Tomorrow!

The observation, Hebert Simon made: "A wealth of information creates a poverty of attention." collaborates with the notion that information is power. I don't subscribe to the latter because it is disconnected from the heart, which is the center of intelligence. Those who are alive should adjust themselves to understand that how one uses information indicates one's relationship with power. If people are outside of the possibilities of becoming powerful, or more importantly; in relationship with their death there isn't a chance at depth in one's life! 

I believe Hebert Simon is looking closely at the first generation growing up online, seeing how fragmented these children are under the age of forty. It is a strange lifestyle developing from an old European paradigm that develops deficiency in the ability to pay attention. It is also by design being ignorant of the intricacies of maturing, at each level: emotionally, physically, intellectually and spiritually! To remove yourself from this paradigm requires the right questions to unravel the dominating stories of one's life.

First question: "When is enough, enough?"

Second question: "Do I want to live deeply?"

Third question: "What is my spiritual responsibility?"

Fourth question: "If I change, who and what changes?"

Lack of Awareness

The lack of awareness is the new form of 'hipness'!

It is kind of dumb the way Twitter and its affiliates have dumbed down language usage amongst American youth. Surprisingly, young people praise the lack of literacy in their intonation. Perhaps they believe in some kind of worship that celebrates it as young people from other countries excel in all the ways young people typically strive. It may be hip and trendy, but the way Life is it is laughable in one sense, in another it is scary knowing how and when the illusion will break.

So let's quit saying Facebooking is Freedom of Speech so we can say whatever we wanna say irrelevant of common decency and "graspable" sanity. In a way that I don't think when Alex Graham Bell pursued a prototype for the telephone, I don't think he was thinking about a smartyphone or texting. So when you get flagged down and fined $200 or you hit the pine tree swinging on your dashboard because you are on your majick iPhone while driving, don't blame the law or your air freshener. It is astounding how many people in our cities have weakened and weak bodies. From women in heels to serious ailments the bodies of our lifestyles are not conducive to the way things were 150 + years ago. Fundamentally, it is important to acknowledge people, but it is not the courtesy of the culture and mindset of the day enamored of a new technology profoundly indifferent to its own inherent danger to soul. Each day sinks a hole into the chasm between what is within people that needs to share, connect and be intimate soul to soul with other souls. Buoyant by fears from a past many are intellectually clueless about the American people of this era clasp onto what they believe is new technology. It is not new. The arrogance of the assertion is connected to the white men who destroyed the library of Alexandria, Egypt, and later the act of Napoleon with cannon fire destroying the nose of the Sphinx.

I am an advocate for the development of a child, and initiating a child into adulthood. Which means the concept of adolescence I am opposed to is not part of the original design of human life. Adolescence gifts the child with problems initiations do not give unto them. Very deeply I think children do not need their childhood development stifled by the electronics parents are overwhelmed by in the 21st century. Parents have created their own problems with their belief in sales people and unabashed devotion to consuming and ignorance of investing. The electronics parents have been using to entertain their children have to be secondary for the most part, and invisible in the first six years of life. They need to come into the child's life later with wisdom according to the child's spirit, and most importantly at the time a child's spirit is fully in their body.

 After the development of certain specifics are in place the electronics can enter a child's life as a tool; a tool and nothing more than a tool. Not even the White House could escape the ubiquity of elevator music. The Eisenhower administration had Muzak wired into the residence in 1953. That’s not Muzak’s only connection to the Commander in Chief though; Lyndon B. Johnson owned an Austin franchise in the 1950s.


Eisenhower Adds Some Color

Eisenhower’s administration had non-Muzak triumphs, too. In 1958, he became the first American president broadcast in color on television. The president and vice-president of NBC were on hand to help Eisenhower inaugurate NBC’s new broadcasting center. Eisenhower was amazed by his tour of the facility, calling it “like nothing else so much in my mind as the radar room in a big battleship or some other complex thing that really is entirely beyond my comprehension but is still capable of exciting my wonderment.”

The office computer revolution began in 1978 during the Carter administration. According to White House historians, initial uses for the new automated system included “assembling databases, tracking correspondence, developing a press release system, and compiling issues and concerns of Congress.” By the 1980s, Ronald Reagan’s staff were using personal computers, although he preferred to do things the old-fashioned way with handwritten notes.


Bill Clinton was the first president to send email, though he didn’t use it often during his term. He would later joke that he “sent a grand total of two emails as president, one to our troops in the Adriatic, and one to John Glenn when he was 77 years old in outer space. No mansion is complete without a personal movie theater. So in 1942 Franklin D. Roosevelt had an old coat closet nicknamed “The Hatbox” converted into a private screening room. He used it to watch news reel coverage from the war. But presidents had watched movies in the White House before; the first film ever seen in the White House was a special 1915 showing of The Birth of a Nation.





President Harry S. Truman

Harry S. Truman delivered the first televised presidential speech from the White House in 1947. His speech focused on food conservation at a time when Europe was still suffering from famine following World War II. He had the first television set installed as well, but he rarely watched it.
In a precursor to MTV’s Cribs, Truman would later invite several reporters with television camera to tour the newly renovated White House in 1952, virtually inviting the American public into the presidential pad.

1. Lincoln Dashes Into the Future

Even though telegram technology emerged in the mid-1840s, it wasn’t until the Civil War that Abraham Lincoln pioneered government use of the messages. Under Lincoln’s leadership, the War Department housed a telegraph room that would become an early Situation Room during important battles. (Before this development, government officials had been forced to use public telegram offices to send messages.) In 1866, the offices of the White House were remodeled, and with the makeover Lincoln’s successor, Andrew Johnson, moved the telegraph room into the White House. Johnson made sure to have it right next to his office, so urgent messages could be relayed quickly.

Rutherford B. Hayes had the first telephone installed in the White House telegraph room. Telephone use was still limited, so Hayes couldn’t call up just anyone—there were so few phones that it was only used for calling the Treasury. In fact, in order to reach the White House, all Treasury officials had to do was dial “1.”
Some sources have characterized Hayes as being unreceptive to the new technology, with the president reportedly saying “It’s a great invention, but who would ever want to use one?” Historians dispute that claim, citing The Providence Journal’s detailed account of Hayes’ first phone conversation, a chat with Alexander Graham Bell himself.

And makes scribes’ lives easier

Hayes was more than just a phone pioneer. Few technologies would have such immediate effect on the workflow of the Oval Office as the arrival of the typewriter during his term. In 1880, a Fairbanks & Company Improved Number Two Typewriter eliminated the need for clerks to write all presidential memos by hand.

President Hayes may have gotten the first phone, but it took over five decades for the president to get a little privacy. It took until 1929 for the Oval Office to receive its own direct line. Herbert Hoover must have gotten tired of walking to the foyer, so he had it routed directly to his desk.

In 1922, Warren G. Harding ordered the White House’s first radio. It sat in his study on the second floor. On top of listening to the radio, Harding was the first president to have his voice broadcast across the airwaves during a dedication of a memorial site to Francis Scott Key on June 14, 1922.
When Hoover took office seven years later, he had 13 more radios installed, presumably so he could listen in every room. Radio broadcasting became a presidential staple with Franklin D. Roosevelt, who in 1933 gave the first of his famous "fireside chats."

In my coming up opportunity in music looked very different than now. The internet and the technologies of this age has provided almost immediate access to strong fan bases, product lines, and promotional and album deals and most astonishing of all the ability to create quality recordings in one's home. The young people, more than I can, can innumerate the 'how' of this time period. I am interested in the depth of their craft and the development of person and craft. As an older and practiced musician I can submit into this generation some facts to consider if they want to be deep musicians well into their golden years. 

The 1960's and before required a level of impeccability today's youth think they can live without. The religion of their musical causes is a Muse, who erroneously thinks less, and acts more without the benefit of foresight. Insight always accompanies an educated mind, but the access to fleeting fame has re-focused many young people into a desire to merely be famous. Unable to connect the musical dots and trace influences into the past centuries and across continents and cultures leaves an anorexic spiritual base for creating music. Preparing for longevity is a distance from a relationship with ancestor's music, or the depth of knowledge a musician needs to digest to tell stories to the wide range of people who listen to music and need to connect with music makers. 

Music making is a spiritual art. It is a form of life from the creativity that formed the universe. Music, like stones, hold millions upon millions of stories ready to be told in a variety of ways and voices. Those voices are histories and American children disconnected from histories produce shallow sounds from the sands of stones, not the stones themselves. It is not completely their fault, and I am not taking this platform to bash them in the head. I am speaking into the solutions. 

There is a lot more to share, but the attention span of so many young people is considerably less than is required for the times, adulthood, or the depth of knowing required to be a master. The responsibilities of citizenship in a wealthy country like the U.S. for musicians are greater than an average soul just getting by in life. Because of the disconnect visited upon many of today's youth their vision is dimmed when it should be illuminated! - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 3.29.15

COMMUNICATING IN ISOLATION

Interesting perspective, but it is not taking into account how much of ones' being was engaged in each other in those old days, and how important it is to leave traces of one's life for historians, and archaeologists in the future. Intelligent thought, introspection, and calm reflection should lead and follow technological advancements. There are many things to consider with each progression. Sadly, our system of education, and our emotional and spiritual development do not accompany the new tools, or toys.

Creativity, Spirituality and the WWW

How have both your creative and spiritual lives changed since the advent of computers? For our own development and conscious evolution we are we now able to instantly access more information, websites and videos than we ever thought possible; we can attend teleseminars and webinars with our favorite inspirational mentors than we would have thought possible just a few years ago. What about the changes to what we have to say and how we express ourselves? My creative life broadened dramatically when a computer entered our home. As a ‘word artist’, I have been creating word-paintings of a spiritual nature for some twenty years. This aspect of my life broadened in ways I could never have imagined with a computer, photoshop and illustrator. I know I would never have considered writing without a computer. 

I use the ‘handle’ wordartist for some of my email and www.wordartist.com as one of my websites that showcases my work as a calligrapher. I hope it applies to my writing as well. I often wonder why people chose the email addresses that they do — in a digital age, the choices we make are revealing. Using our own names may be the easy way to go. Many choose intriguing ‘handles’ that spurs our curiosity as to why they were chosen? Perhaps in a digital world where our nuanced voices, facial expressions and handwriting style are replaced by anonymous fonts, these addresses and domain names say as much about us as our handwriting used to reveal in times now past. If you are willing to take the time to share, I would love to know why you use the email address or website domain that you do?

There is a phrase commonly used that upon short examination is misleading. You use it. Most people do.  I understand why. It is the way the word 'technology' is used. All of a sudden (within the last decade) the word technology, and the evidence of technology and how it is thought of substitutes its vastness to simply refer to cellular phones, and IPADS, and such. The word usage has taken on a life force of its own. As an adult it either pains me or annoys me hearing children restricting language because of the narrow focus they are lead to believe is the totality of what technology encompasses. Men and women have been developing technologies since the earliest days of our arrival upon the Earth. The spiritual, scientific, pragmatic and practical technologies were dreamt and designed to answer questions and ease physical labor, or extend one's outreach beyond the narrow scope of the seen. In the 20th century the technology developed in the kitchen alone is staggering in its magnitude and to date has not stopped.

Technologies begin as an expansive dream, merge into ideas, and become the creative and often hard work of making manifest an idea from the mist of the intangible, but possible into the machines that work for us, or into the way of facilitating communication, which has been the drive of mankind for the length of our time on this planet. So, what is technology? It is the mechanisms that make our lives easier, our hands freer with the hope of giving us more time to meditate, explore, study and apply our knowledge. So much of our technologies took leisure from the hands of the wealthy, and gave to the poor the luxury of free time the wealthy believed was theirs alone. With such a gift it is often disappointing how free time and freed hands are today bound by a technology designed to offer some freedom to explore the other planes of our existence.  - Gregory E.
