Bethenny Frankel beneath all intents and purposes is a mother; scattered, but a mother nonetheless. That political turmoil, as all political turmoil at this level of danger, affects children into adulthood in the most subtle and interesting ways. It takes a lot of probing to find out how historical events affect children. "Look in a woman's eyes." Daddy instructed me when I was a boy of 15. The reasoning was sound.

Today's young man has a twist to his thinking contrary to the established patterns. Their maneuvering around identity, sexual identity is unique in large part because society, in general and many of their parents in particular, didn't give the children an analytical approach to the subject, or immerse them in historical approaches, or delve into the depths of subjects with their children. They simply placed them in the mix and worded their action with attitudes marked by cliches. I shouldn't say it is unique. It isn't as I think about it.

In 1990 my youngest brother, Michael, invited me to his school to share in his history class. "Bring your drum." he said. Michael was in the early years of his profession in a Quaker school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Abington Friends. I went intending to stay a day or two. I was there the whole week and gave 12 workshops in the auditorium. The dean at the time approached me one morning. Introducing herself with a firm handshake she said to me, "Whatever you are doing keep doing it. I haven't seen your show, but all of our misfits and whatnots are hooking class to see you, to be with you. Keep it up!"

I was stunned. As she walked away I asked Michael about it because I'd never intended to use my gifts to work with white kids. I wanted to work with Black children. This was expanding something within me. What was going on?

Michael said, "Gregory, remember in the 1960's and '70's when mostly white people were talking about not forcing the values their parents forced on them, the church and religion on their children, and why?"

"Yes."

"Well, these are their children. They are grasping, and reaching out and taking hold of the Gothic culture, drugs, sex, Satan worship, the occult. They are gravitating towards what you have. They don't have the foundation we grew up with, and without it they are in trouble and..."

Michael went on eloquently explaining the roots of an American phenomenon and export: rootlessness. Now in 2013 many of those children are parents, and they've passed on a broken lineage that is gaining acceptability, and leaving a trail of wreckage to the soul and the soil in ways too complex to unwrap here in this context. This is just enough to get thoughts going, and perhaps reaction that may turn into action. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 7.26.13

Bethenny Frankel gets candid about her sex life and says she wants to date African-American men she revealed in a recent interview. Hmmm, that is a no-brainer. That was my idea when I first saw her talk show. Her energy and creativity and the way she plays with her sexual energies are too near the dare of the best of Black men who've ventured outside the parameters of their culturally imposed risk factors. She could build a man's Sacred Dream at her level of accomplishment in ways a lot of Black women cannot. Imagine what she'd do for an established Black man in corporate America?

The one problem she made apparent on her reality show a man should pay attention to is deadly to the soul. She bases relationships on conflict and competition. If she ever overcame that flaw she could clear the way to become a Sacred Woman. That is the personal draw I have felt since I saw her on her reality show! Whoever does see this should first of all be an initiated woman. In that process a man could not withstand the crash to inevitably  come should her relationship with divinity ever grow in that direction. Nor, I speculated remembering a couple of sexy exchanges on her talk show, would she not be a tiger in bed, and conversation with her man after she is no longer simmering with anger in the aftermath of a failed marriage would be the equivalent of re-birth within her!

There is a lot to think about marrying a successful woman in business and much to consider as a man giving an introspective analysis of what he is sure of in his place in the world. That is the thing that is important in good marriages; knowing who you are, why you are here and as a participant in that theater what your life means to the world. Such matches create their own dynamic teachings.Then there is the other perspective let out the bag when she says,  “I’m actively going on dates, but I’m not sexually active.”

“I would make out with Drake, because I think I need to date someone who’s African-American.”

Frankel then says, “I just think I need to broaden my resume.”

There is a joke and social commentary in those last statements I need not say.

What you seem to point out is directed towards people who base their marriages and relationships upon conflict. Your first sentence is the ideal marriage, a reciprocal one. America struggling to close the gender wage gap

March 8 was International Women’s Day, meant to celebrate achievements among women, and promote greater equality around the world. The United States is doing well in some areas, but continues to struggle to close the gender wage gap. In 2013, the median annual earnings of men were $48,520. Women earned just 78.8% of men’s pay, or about $10,000 less. This difference has remained basically unchanged over at least the last seven years in the U.S.

Women earn less than men in every part of the United States, although the gender pay gap varies considerably across the country. Women’s median pay in Fresno, California was slightly lower than the typical pay of men, while in Provo-Orem, Utah women earned less than 60% of what men earned, the worst pay gap nationwide. Women in the 10 areas with the worst gender pay gaps earned less than three-quarters of the median earnings of men. 24/7 Wall St. reviewed America’s 100 most populous metropolitan areas to find the regions with the smallest and widest gender wage gaps.

A small pay gap does not mean women are well paid, just as a large difference between men and women’s earnings does not necessarily mean women have low earnings. In fact, only three of the metro areas with the smallest pay gaps had overall median earnings that exceeded the national median of $42,498, meaning both men and women were not particularly well paid.

In half of the 10 areas where women earned the least compared to men, residents had relatively high wages overall. This may actually have exacerbated the pay gap, because women in these areas were not necessarily paid more than women in other cities. Women workers in nine of the 10 metro areas with the largest pay gaps had median earnings lower than women across the nation. The median earnings of women in the one exception — the Bridgeport metro area — were relatively high at $51,837, but this figure was far lower than the median earnings of Bridgeport men.

In an interview with 24/7 Wall St., Ariane Hegewisch, study director at the Institute For Women’s Policy Research (IWPR), explained there is simply less room for wage discrimination when earnings are so low overall. “If you are a high earner, your earnings are very high,” Hegewisch said. Since women are underrepresented among top earners, areas with high median earnings are often more vulnerable to pay discrimination, she added.

Nationwide, women did not have higher median earnings than men in any of the occupations reviewed by the Census. However, different jobs tend to have different gender pay gaps. Among community and social service workers in three of the 10 metro areas with the lowest pay gaps, female workers earned more than their male counterparts.

Professional female scientists working in the Los Angeles metro area made up a majority of the science-related workforce and had higher median earnings than their male counterparts. Similarly, in office and administrative support occupations, women made up more than two-thirds of workers, although this was less than the national average composition. The median earnings of female office and administrative support workers were $37,256, higher than both the median male earnings and the comparable female median earnings nationwide. LA women also fared well in transportation jobs, a male-dominated occupation. While women in the area comprised just 11.2% of the transportation workforce, their median earnings were nearly $36,000 in 2013, considerably higher than the national figure and 105.4% of the men’s median earnings, the eighth highest percentage compared to other large metro areas.

Women working in Fresno made nearly ninety cents for every dollar a man made, the smallest gender pay gap among the 100 largest U.S. metro areas. Overall, earnings were not especially high, with a typical resident earning $37,424 in 2013, versus the national median of $42,498. And while women tended to have higher college attainment rates than men in the area, all residents were far less likely than most Americans to have completed at least a bachelor’s degree as of 2013. While women made up a minority of workers in computer and mathematical occupations, as well as in the architecture and engineering professions, their median earnings were higher than their male counterparts. However, in both fields, women in Fresno did not earn more than men in similar jobs nationwide. The gender pay gap would have been even smaller if median earnings for women in legal occupations were higher. Women in such jobs earned less than 40% of what men did, an exceptionally wide gap compared to other areas with the lowest pay gaps.

I think a large part of the success of news shows, and talk shows and reality shows is what is sold and promoted and how much money is made doing those entertainment shows. I also think the revolutionary thinking that successfully agitated for change nation wide is off the main road wrestling with hair stylists, feminine men, prosperity ministries, cultural miners, self-serving Congress men and women and hating ourselves along the way we are thinking very hard about how we got here in this state of comfort that excludes us as global citizens, and makes us buffoons in the eyes and perceptions of our neighbors, many of whom are scared of us, and what we might do with the power of destruction we possess that passes for our capacity for freedom.

The last thing I said is some bullshit, contradictory bullshit. No other word for it. I meant that. It was intentional. We hear it all the time this kind of deadly, but popular sentiment. What do we do with the lies in our bones, our bodies?

Magic started cutting his teeth with PEPSI while playing ball, and continued well beyond his career into later adulthood establishing businesses, building stock and equity in people, and making life better for millions of people in ways he could. Kim Kardashian, Bethenny Frankel, Tyra Banks, Pamela Anderson, Vanessa Williams, and others also entered into their spotlights with designs of their own.

A deep understanding of themselves emerges when reality stars catapult into successful ventures. There is thinking going on. Thinking and planning.
