Hope is a Fight Against the Inevitable

Valerie Harper by Jason LaVeris

TMZ reports

Valerie Harper, a veteran actress, and the belle of my eye since the 1970's, is in a lawsuit. Because she didn't tell Broadway producer, Matthew Lombardo, she'd been diagnosed with brain cancer in 2012 he claims he lost $500,000. The only indication he had something was amiss was the slurring of her speech and forgetting lines during rehearsals. Her $2 million lawsuit comes from not being paid the remainder of her contract with Dancing With The Stars after she pulled out of the show.

It is a helluva mess, but her enthusiasm for life is the center of her appeal as a woman, an actress, and comedienne. She is 74 years old this year living with brain cancer. In a US Weekly article she said, "In response to a recent erroneous quote concerning my health, I am not absolutely cancer free. I wish I were. What I am right now is cautiously optimistic about my present condition and I have hope for the future." That said, and out of the way what is to be said for the courage and grit it takes to get older?

I was watching a Showtime series last night, "The 7 Deadly Sins". They were featuring lust and the second story was about a young man in his thirties who'd the whole of his life loved and lusted after older and old women. He developed the skills necessary to win their attention, affection and become their lovers. In exchange these women, one as old as 91, were able to reach climaxes and squirt and fulfill the passions of their bodies and unleash their souls without judgment or fear. The reciprocation of their relationships with the young man, and their validations are reaffirmations of the continuity of their lives and are as valid as the life-death-resurrection theme of Judaic scriptures reaffirming the value, the light and the right of Life to move through every stage of life.

Obsessed with youth youth will struggle unnecessarily, and many will never become powerful beings in their 40's, 60's, and beyond. So narrow a focus does not create a wide enough landing pad for the full spectrum of the magic of Life, so little will unfold for them. Not knowing how to respect these things is the bane of existence in a culture like ours in the United States of America. I don't think Jesus Christ could save them from this malaise. Not if they believe Jesus never got any pussy, or was ever married!
