Black Mothers White Images

Betty White re-invented the image of motherhood, and womanhood in Colored people's minds in the 1950's and '60's. She replaced in a lot of Colored kid's minds their own mothers when they were dreaming about ideals. Because Betty White was on television, as was Timmy's mother on Lassie, and Daniel Boone's wife, and Kitty on GUNSMOKE were on there too many of us dreamt of them as our mothers, wives, or girlfriends, if we could catch up with their ages.

It was innocence, but it played havoc on some people's minds these ideals and the idea that beautiful white women on the screen were the ideals and our mother's were just Colored. But, in the end, and at the end of the show, or movie our mothers cooked dinner for us and tucked us in at night and all was well and our need to be loved and cherished had come true looking up into our mother's face knowing she was the truth.

Anyone who is into the vintage pinup lifestyle or at least appreciates the art has probably heard of Bunny Yeager, the 1950s pinup photographer who helped make Bettie Page famous. Born Linnea Eleanor Yeager on March 13, 1929, she passed away last Sunday, May 25th, but was still shooting photos in her Miami studio and gallery right up to the end! This talented lady was and still remains an inspiration for all women who wish to enter a male dominated profession. Before Ms. Yeager turned from model to photographer, the only people shooting pin up photos were men! But Bunny changed all that, and here’s how~

An article from the Miami Herald, states that Bunny originally started out as a model herself, but always yearned to be behind the camera. So she began classes at a vocational school in 1953. The first class assignment was to go out and shoot anything they wanted and come back for a critique. So Ms Yeager picked Africa, USA , a cageless zoo in Boca Raton in which she shot her leopard bikini wearing pinup model friends amongst the wild cheetahs. Needless to say her assignment caused quite a stir and her instructor insisted she send the pictures off to magazines, tout sweet! And that marked the beginning of her illustrious career as one of America’s most famous pinup photographers. And the iconic photos of Bettie Page in the leopard print bikini that Bunny designed are some of the most famous pinup photos of all time!

Yeager grew up a very shy girl in Braddock, Pennsylvania, but when her family moved to Miami, (at the age of 17) she jumped at the chance to re-invent herself.
She re-named herself Bunny (from Lana Turner’s character in the 1945 film “Weekend at the Waldorf”) and enrolled herself in modeling school.
In the 1940’s, she took to modeling with an eye to fame, doing both runway and photo shoots. Because she was very photogenic, beautiful, tall, and slender, Ms. Yeager was very sought after. Yeager would soon become one of the most photographed models in Miami.
In her 20s, Ms Yeager wanted to add to her portfolio and stopped modeling and enrolled in photography classes at a Miami trade school and began her career behind the camera. She practiced a lot by taking self-portraits.
As a woman photographer taking photos of other woman, mostly nudes and near-nudes, Yeager was able to bring a level of comfort and ease that male photographers could not achieve from their subjects. She gave women the confidence and encouragement to be natural and look beautiful without the goggling eyes of the male gaze.
Bunny met the raven-haired Bettie Page in 1954 and formed a friendship. Bunny took most of the photographs of her that year. Along with photographer Irving Klaw, Yeager played a role in helping to make Page famous, particularly with her photos in Playboy magazine.
Yeager remained a very celebrated photographer through the 50s and 60s. Her photographs were frequently taken at exotic locales and done with creative compositions. Many times, Bunny would make her own swimsuits for the models to wear and create her own props as well.
She took the well-known still images of Ursula Andress on the beach in the 1962 James Bond film Dr. No, and discovered many other notable models.
In early 2010, the Warhol Museum held the first exhibition of Yeager’s work. Most of the photographs in the exhibit came from Bunny’s book “How I Photograph Myself” published by A.S. Barnes & Co. in 1964. She would go on to write over 30 books .
In November 2011, the Dezer Schauhalle[ in Miami, Florida hosted a retrospective exhibition of Yeager’s work. Included were some never before seen photos of various models including Bettie Page.

The end of the first month of this year (2013) Hollywood press came out with a list of ten of the most famous legs of all time. I read through them.Aside from the obvious there was the one thing that distinguished each person's worth, or substantiated their place in the annals of history as having the most famous legs: their insurance policies.

Betty Grable was a famous actress, and most important to soldiers from 1941 - 1945. Precious were photographs and more deeply appreciated because of the fragility of photographs and the careful way it took to obtain one in those days, and the deeper connections with art and beauty children gleaned from their schooling, and the close physical approximation held between neighbors, and family. In comparison the internet and the cell phone have de-appreciated the value of cherishing something, as it appears. It has been a gradual and subtle change, but with the perspective of age, and the imagination of a developed intellect it is easy to grasp what I am saying about value.

Youth comes into the world knowing much and knowing little. I remember. The perspective of too many of our young people have been measured by firms and agencies devoted to the one task of getting most, if not all of our money out of our pocket into their hands. Actress Jaime Lee Curtis who played in the movie TRUE LIES in the early 1990's killed me in her mini skirt. what I didn't know was the value Hollywood placed upon her legs. Her legs were insured for $2 million.

Tina Turner's legs were insured for $3.2 million, and credited with stopping the hearts of men across the globe for long moments at a time, and sustaining the life force of those weakening their grip, or hold upon Life.

Sharon Stone opened her legs in a movie in the 1990's and the glimpse of her punany, and the hair on it shocked every person in the world who watched movies, and those who held the moral standard for decency. Fortunately, the movie was an excellent thriller with many sexy moments, and perplexing twists. Without those things it would have been a cheap thrill, but because the quality of story, production, and action were superb the scene when Sharon Stone let the police glimpse between her legs seared the sexual tension of that moment permanently in memories, and became a definition of sexual power and a symbol of the power over men we can become weak under.

ESSO gas service

Betty Page posed with an ESSO gas pump in the 1950's. Gas was less than .30 cents a gallon then. Every gas station automatically gave each car gas, cleaned the windows, and checked the oil at the same time. Imagine what it would have been like had service followed the technological advances we are enjoying today!

A few points to make about changing the name of the Washington football team. Economic sanctions will not happen. Sports fans are worshipers. It is not in them to boycott the game. It is an inconceivable concept. It is not part of their make up. Second, one cannot expect people who identify themselves as niggers to rally around a cause like this. It is unreasonable a request. Third, the average person is unaware of how deep the core values Europe internalized to conquer the world's people lives within us, and how it has factored into our everyday thinking. If any are stumped by such a seemingly simple dilemma as a name change they have a vague grasp of the history of the Christian church from Europe to the Americas, and don't understand the relationships spawned from that institution into politics to war, and property rights, etc. - Gregory E. Something happens to people of vision in the aftermath of their marriages dying. It is a dangerous time, and many fail to live up to their full potential for a long time because of the Magician's Trick employed against their better judgement and who they are. What happens? Let me explain it as best I can.

Clarity and Power stare at each other from East to West. The chasm between them is there, but it is an illusion in one sense, and a task in another sense of the meanings of Clarity and Power. In the aftermath of hard marriages, and divorces the heart seeks refuge, and solace, and if it(the Magician) is disguised, and is really a relationship based upon conflict a person can feel empowered in the next relationship if certain needs are met. If the person in the turmoil of his heart can stand to see him/herself it is an act of Power, and in time Clarity comes. But in the meantime, and in between the pillars of Clarity and Power one is vulnerable to their deep-set needs, and can be tossed in various directions. It is a manipulation, and it can distract and satisfy at the same time.

This is a time to careful.
