TRUST is where Truth is.

General Colin L. Powell and his wife, Alma Powell during a press conference.

Colin Powell.

I met the man. The most impressive thing about General Colin L. Powell, to me, was his wife. She, as he admitted way back then, was the power behind the man. It followed a traditional way of being, of powerful men who understood power and where it came from in their bond with the woman who chose them. My parents had this understanding in their long marriage. My brothers and I learned it by example from their examples. It shaped us into the men we became in our lives! - Gregory E. HER POWERS . . .

My work with young people revealed the same stories. Buried deep in Mrs. Powell's blog is a painful reality buried deep and away from the average mindset: the need for, and the lack of Elders in communities around the country, and a lack of committed, matured and accessible adults to listen and help our children. When I use the word, Elder, I am talking about Elders in the way of Wisdom and Teaching. The lives of true Elders has prepared them for this role. I am not referring to people who simply got old... - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 6.3.14

I met  General Colin L. Powell and his wife once. I was performing at a gala event in the 1990's and he was accompanied by his wife. All of us musicians were stunned by her presence and personal power.  Her interaction with us before the event started revealed she was the source of who the General is. She spoke about it with a few of us after I posed a question that led her that way. . . - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 6.3.14
