need & the general

I guess I am struck by the sheer magnitude of the power of sex, and the Punany. I am in awe of those powers in the 'downfall' of General David Petraeus, former CIA director, and I am also disturbed by the way the Federal government flaunts its righteous powers claiming superior technology to weed out all threats to the nation. You can't wish away the inconsistent links within people, nor can you eradicate the urges within people that need closeness either. In all of this mess around the sexual liaison between the General and his biographer their soul connection is not, and cannot be examined beyond espionage, sex, and loyalty. As powerful as need is against the backdrop of loyalty loyalty pans out as the preferable choice. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11.14.12

Not that hard for authorities to get to your email

In this June 23, 2011, file photo, Gen. David Petraeus, center, walks with his wife Holly, left, past a seated Paula Broadwell, rear right, as he arrives to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee during a hearing on his nomination to be Director of the Central Intelligence Agency on Capitol Hill in Washington. Petraeus quit Nov. 9, 2012, after acknowledging an extramarital relationship. As questions arise about the extramarital affair between Petraeus and his biographer, Paula Broadwell, she has remained quiet about details of their relationship. However, information has emerged about Jill Kelley, the woman who received the emails from Broadwell that led to the FBI’s discovery of Petraeus’ indiscretion. (AP Photo/Cliff Owen, File)
