About the Maori from their daugher, Mereana Taki.

Last Century Colonial Travellers and new residents took photographs of our Elders as part of a supposed 'Dying Race' and heavily romanticized Noble Savage Peoples soon to be swept aside by Europeanization.

This is an Elder Kinswoman of the East Coast
Tribalz, although the non Nativez never recorded their True names or only part of their names, or a phonetic guess at the first name.

These photos defied the 'Maori Maiden' genre which perfectly reflected a propaganda of reclining Maiden, more often scantily clad on the ground 'pure and open' so to speak. Passive, vulnerable and defenceless was the preferred Heathen image especially where Nativez Women were concerned since the photos were to 'sell' our Home as a preferred tourist destination and new Home for would be Land speculators and the social milieu that this would encourage.

Our Elder is wearing Mako earrings, made of Sharks teeth they symbolize a Chiefly Woman's virtue of tenacity and determination. Her moko kauae ~ her chiselled chin markings are very simple lines depicting her lineage and her as a Tribalz Woman using Water symbols as bearer of the tides of Life.

The Two Huia feathers denote high ranking Women. Her ornately woven Korowai ~ the feather cloak was reserved to those of 'wealth and prestige' as such taonga (treasured heirlooms) took so very long to create and finish. The panel along the top of the Korowai ~ the feather Cloak symbolizes our Celestially corpus of knowledge. It often took years to complete a Korowai and one this ornate could only be acquired by those of Chiefly means.

Love the photograph because of the defiant and upright posture of the Kuia ~ Elder Kinswoman. It is very powerful for this complete composition which projects so much mana ~ Sacred Authority inwardly borne and radiantly exuding itself. ~ Mereana Taki, 2010

"The depth of your traditions, and the spirituality was missed by the Euros who came to your homeland, or pissed over? How were the Maori able to keep language, custom, and religion as well as you have? Didn't the missionaries come as an advance guard?" - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories

"We are as now, a Spoken people. Our Oral World and our direct relationships with Great Mother continues to keep much of ourselves intact.

We will try everything we can to keep our Mother Cultures alive and visceral, dynamic and relevant as Ancients
Wisdoms providing 'Modern' solutions. We are highly adaptable in an open system of Love and Respect. Our preference is to be inclusive, although we will lock out if needs be as a last resort.

My work today is to walk amongst my Kin and rekindle many of the threads between our Sacred and Secular Worlds. Whether amongst our Whanau Kin in our communities or in the illusion of higher education, it matters not in the end. Many non Natives react to our Wisdoms, as you might expect. They open up the Heart chakra directly and without apology as Gateway to mutual respect. We want to know how you feel. We are less interested in what you think you feel. We are Heart People, clear and direct as an exemplar of a Healthy Whole BEing. Feeling is our intelligence of preference beside intuition and the cognitive is as mode of delivery LOL hahahaha ...know our non Nativez find this a challenge to humble the Mind as delivery point only. With their Ancients and Ancestors intact, they learn to relax and inhabit themselves more fully with all the unfinishedness of BEing that can go on.

As Long as this Sacred Ground exists, we will persist also. She is Sacred Mother, Language, Culture, Womb of Existence as a totalizing system of sustainability. She teaches us every day to go gently with ourselves and we have only two learning skillz for life. (1) Deep Listening with ones whole life. Aata whakarongo, cultivating our stomach intuition and GoddSelf. (2) Whole of Life observation. Aata Tirohia, to see quantum and Spirit active. Talking is NOT REQUIRED in a mastery of Wisdom. Brevity and economy is the benchmark of the skillful Orator and Chiefly diplomat." ~ Mereana Taki

"Her hair is curly. What is the Maori relationship, if any, with African tribes?" I asked.

“Here is the connection, Mereana: in spirit. In spirit there is a connection created through the waves of devotion to our Mother Earth, the connective energies of songs from our being present in the spiritual walk within the inner chambers of being who we were meant to be. That connects people who have never seen each other, yet belong together, and will eventually come together. Here is a connection perhaps, Mereana!”

Mereana answered: "Kia ora Sacred and Chiefly Brother, yes ...this is our essence ...we are indeed pure energetics of Spirit. Perhaps this is all we ever really need/ed to understand. Here in the power of our Spirits ...we are unassailable ...unavailable ...unattainable ...wearing the robes of our immutable ...intangible ...incorruptable ...boundless ...timeless ...causeless ...infinitude ...rooted in Great Mothers own deep Spirit, we all touch her through our outer Skin and we intrinsically ...innately ...indefatigably to our bones realise ...this will be eternally so.

When Dr Bernice Johnson Reagon from Sweet Honey in the Rock visited us a few years ago, she left an immense inspirational impression on our Wairua, our Spiritual imprints. She sang to us; after her oratory, to introduce herself ...as is our custom when standing upon Land which has never felt our 'waewae tapu' sacred feet for the first time. First is to Great Mother and then, to her descendants who are Caretakers for this place we are now standing upon to enter into relationship. Bernice sang something so powerful ...it was primal sound, so deep and so sorrowful ...much as our own Kuikuia when they wail at our tangihanga our funeral ceremonies. This wailing sound is piercing and it is Oceanic in the way that Bernice brought through a very deep Drum in her Voice of Ancients and Ancestors into our Ancestor House. It is profoundly moving even recollecting it now ...the inexplicable entered and we were transported into the company of our shared elders. Bernice thanked us all for 'still being here' for ensuring our Ancestor house ...standing in the middle of an urban jungle ...not only persisted, it was also that it still a living gathering space and place where the sacred can continuously be observed and remembered.

What she said about her Ancestors lives with me still. She said; her Africa as someone taken from Africa lives in the Soles/Souls of her feet. Wherever her feet go, Africa goes with her. This is very very profound. She IS Africa wherever else she goes ...A Native American visitor said something similar; whenever She (of Nevada Paiute) misses 'home' she needs only place her hand on Great Mother anywhere on the planet and 'she is home'. There is an instant connectivity for her from where she is at the time, to where her people have always been established and ...she is Spiritually taken there in this gesture.

Yes Sacred Brother of the same Sacred Mother ...it is so."

Mereana Taki - It is always a journey within you.

"Mind enslavement holds you to a one dimensional view inside a multi-dimensional holograph of your strongest lessons. These lessons are about your own Light. You are the teacher, the subject, the student, the SEEKER OF MYSTERIES. Its you ... your human experiences are the mystery. Your Soul provides immortal consciousness. Figure out how you came to view yourself as some kind of normalised antagonistic binary of Spirit and Ego." ~ Mereana Taki (2014

A Puzzle of Existence, or a Question of Being?

The suggestion is obvious. The nuance apparent. The intention?
Now, therein lies the hidden." - Dawn Wolf, Keeper of Stories (Nov. 23, 2016)

A woman waiting for her man to put himself into her body from behind, or a Nun hiding her urges to bone a man to death are in conflict or not?

The two images are one idea about availability of sex, and the notion that there is no bridge to cross in the sexual realms if the holiness of intercourse came from the Creator. Whether a vow of chastity is viable is not a question of value of sex. It is whether one values sex as an aspect of holiness. If not, is the Nun wrong taking a chastity vow, or the whore wrong for being a whore who may discover in her occupation the healing capacity of the vagina, as she learns the holiness of the womb's capacity to steer God and Goddess through the opening between her legs upward towards her highest self.

Revere, wonder, question the riddle.

"A man can spend years of his life seeking expression of his love for a woman. Is it worth it? Does it give value to his life, or does life itself lend the capacity to love into the bosom of a man for a woman? These things we know, but knowing them?" - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories [May 27, 2017]

Reverence is a state of being inspired by beauty, character, and purpose. Often women unconsciously engineer reverence into one's being. - Dawn Wolf, Keeper of Stories 5.19.17

There are three things: reverence, wonder and the questions to the riddles. Do we unravel the riddles, seek the joys within the wonders or revere what needs reverence to be holy, become enlightened, or to bring light to others? These things expand existence into living. - Dawn Wolf, Keeper of Stories [May 27, 2017]

pretty clear.

Maat Petrova seated with butterflies. 'Butterflies, they love me.' she exclaimed.
Sept. 3, 2016 !!!!

Maat Petrova seated in a Botanical Garden enjoying how the butterflies, she says, love her! She is a Goddess retrieved by Spirit from crudeness surrounding her that cannot help but be transformed by her understanding, and relationship with her womb. This is a 'something' inherent within women born of a woman. Devoid of relationship with this power set women are making no real strides towards empowerment. Ignorance of this numbs women and girls they have birthed. The lack of real knowledge of self abandons the womb. But, do they care?

Wrong question. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 8/16/17

Dark Woman, Pregnant Fine

pregnancy of hers has no words to convey the beauty, the warmth, the comfort of knowing deep things father and child will never know, only sense. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories

"Pregnant Black woman's gentleness ceases and
begins a struggle between Life and Death. . ."
- Dawn Wolf, Keeper of Stories

"I am always astounded because I am in awe at the splendor of the way pregnant women of the darker hue expand the idea the Ancients left in them! There are other things that birth during the days of the carrying a child, but the beauty is the splendor, the holiness is the essence without words. May you breath and birth when it is time for the child to come forth!" - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 4/22/17

Vulnerability of Spiritual Work

April 29, 2013

"...often the case with prophets and holy men. They too must learn their lessons and overcome themselves. The difference between them and us is that they persist under greater pain and loneliness than most of us seem to be able to endure. TRUTH AT HIGH LEVELS

Rosario Dawson overshadowing Hayden Panettiere's immature beauty !!!!

I don’t know what proper adjective fits the feel of this observation of Hayden Panettiere’s youth, her good looks, energy, or the sheer weight of the accolades and expectations heaped upon her by a celebrity worshiping populace. She is a young thing with a lot of years to navigate through employed in an industry that caters to young people unnaturally. A fear-based adoration of youth, and their beauty has limited possibilities, and a long reach into a dysfunctional adult life. It is incredible the number of people shallow enough to play a superficial game of adoration of, and devotion to the permanence of youth. Not only is youth a short-lived stage of life it has no permanence. In the West youth, gifted youth are a commodity. This culture takes the long way of demonstrating disrespect toward the process of growth, and as long as money is given unnatural adulation the need to develop impeccability, expand the mind, and deepen the soul as we age settles on the bottom of a bog. In the long run, people of this kilt make bad decisions raising children being so terribly focused on measuring their aging bodies, and looks against the firm bodies of 20 year olds who are untested, and immature. Pushing against, and away from their maturation these kinds of ‘adults’ entwine themselves in a non-strategic mess, and become cult members who maintain membership by downplaying the importance of more serious issues that affect their futures, and the world at large. In other words they become selfish, petty, and self-centered. Poverty feeds off of those elements.

One of the predictable outcomes of this paradigm goes to the heart of poverty and wealth. More often than not these young celebrities manage their money and develop a sophisticated understanding of money, investment, currency, business, and nurture a keen interest in the state of affairs of their fellowman. Often they develop deep knowledge about the things they are passionate about. Building legacies, investing, developing businesses, and supporting community organizations, hospitals, medical research, and child development programs at the national and local levels becomes their focus as the media and their adoring fans focus on the most trivial of things about them, and miss the whole individual all together!

These artists can develop spiritually on a dynamic level. Developing their craft and skills to the highest level spills into a higher level of being, and their spirituality can take a turn outside of the often uninformed, crude form of religiosity of their fans. These tendencies have led many to criticize people like Madonna, and Michael Jackson, and Wesley Snipes, Tiny Turner, and John Travolta because it is impossible for the likes of these celebrities to grovel in a fundamentalism that is comfortable for millions, but below the high levels of excellence they have worked so hard to ascend to.

Regular folks complain about the enormous salaries of star athletes, and actors often comparing their contributions against teachers. So how they don’t understand in a capitalist society people being paid according to the value they bring to the market place is understandable considering how the United States has mastered the art of under developing their children. Teachers are important but children, and childhood development pales against the money made from developing youth detention centers, adult jails, and prisons, and pharmaceuticals. At the top of the economic food chain value corporations develop influence to affect government policies, and make profits, and the powerless, easily misguided people are seen as no more than bottom feeders, cannon fodder, or consumers. People need to understand their place according to the distribution of money, and the value they bring to the market place to before they can begin to tackle the bigger problems of the current state of this economy in 2010.

This culture is full of libraries, and long before the Internet access to information was there. It simply required curiosity, and a work ethic to obtain the information, and a strong algebraic understanding of things, and how they work together in this life. To fill in the gaps of knowledge, and to expand one’s mind, and deepen one’s spirit and connect the dots it is best done without the TV, but most folks stop right there and go no further, and so do the high achievers in Hollywood, and other venues. They won’t share what they know to most of their fans. They cannot teach people how to excel. They can’t teach people to do the math to see what the truth is. That comes from one’s passion to excel. Once a person starts that journey everything and everyone they need to help, and guide them gets the news, and a conspiracy to help that individual begins to unfold. Duplicate that in the community and the world changes noticeably. – Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories

love & development

"Although people speak of becoming holy and noble everything good comes down to the achievement of true love. Once that happens all the problems of the world are solved. Can this be more important than worship and religion? Ask God."

Holy People (diyin diné) of the Navajo (diné)

Diyin Dine'é

The diyin diné, generally translated as Holy People, are the beings whose actions are recounted in the stories and myths that are the basis for the Navajo ceremonials [Diné binahagha'] and who are pictured in the sand paintings ['iikááh]. They are the powerful beings whose intercession is being sought, with whom the participants wish to identify and make common cause.

The core group of these beings contains First Man [Átsé hastiin], First Woman [Átsé asdz], Coyote [M'ii], otherwise known as "first scolder" [Átsé hashké], First Boy [Átsé ashkii] and First Girl [Átsé at'ééd], Talking God [Haashch'ééti'í] and Calling God [Hashch'éoghan]. Other members of this group are the cardinal light phenomena, the white [igai] light of Dawn [hayíík] in the east [ha'a'aah], the blue [doot'izh] light of midday ['aní'ní'] in the south [shádi'ááh], the yellow [itso] light of twilight [nahootsoii] in the west ['e'e'aah], the black [izhin] of Night [t'éé'] in the north [náhooks], and the Wind [ních'i]. This group, plus some unspecified others, were the group who emerged from the underworld into this world in the Emergence and who held the first Blessingway [Hózhójí] ceremony on the rim of the Emergence lake. They built the first hooghan and thereby established the properly built and consecrated hooghan as the site for all future ceremonies and as "the place home" for the Navajo.

First Man [Átsé hastiin], with the aid of his medicine bundle [jish], then created this world. After the first hooghan he placed the sacred mountains [Dzi Dadiyinígíí] and they were given diyin diné as their "inner forms" which amimated them. The plants [nanise'] were created and diyin diné were made to animate them. Corn [naad'] was given an especially important position. The same occurred for the animals [naaldlooshii nídaaldzidígíí], the clouds [k'os], water [tó], the thunder clouds [k'osdihi] that make male rain [níts bik'] and the clouds [k'os] that make female rain [níts bi'áád]. So Blessingway [Hózhójí] today describes the creation of this world by First Man [Átsé hastiin].

The older studies separate the diyin diné into good and evil beings or forces, placing many powerful diyinii, including First Man [Átsé hastiin], in the evil group, He is placed there apparently due to a later conflict with his "daughter," Changing Woman [Asdz nádleehé] over the possession of his medicine bundle [jish]. Changing Woman [Asdz nádleehé] is viewed as the source of all good for the Navajo. The recent work of McNeley and especially, Farella, take issue with this view. In particular, for Farella, First Man [Átsé hastiin] represents the distillation of what it means to be diyin.

"The essence of diyin is knowledge and, in a way, wisdom. In particular, this is knowledge of the future which enables you to predict and at the same time create, or at a minimum appear to create, future events. As already noted, such knowledge or such an ability is not an inherent feature of diyinii; it is something that is achieved ritually. Thus, if one wants knowledge of the future, he employs a divination ritual; if one of diyin diné wants to create something, he uses [Hózhójí] (or another ritual). First Man does this as do the other diyinii. And it is the same thing that earth-surface people do today in the same circumstances. First Man is exceptional only in the completeness of his knowledge; everything that came after him, everything that is known about today was known and, if not created, at least allowed by Átsé Hastiin."

These newer studies view the diyinii as representing a continuum of knowledge, and therefore power, along which the earth-surface people are also situated. The goal of the earth-surface people, by aiming for knowledge gained over a long and happy lifetime is to join the diyinii at the end of their lives. This is reflected in the fact that death at an early age is viewed with such dismay by the Navajo. A hooghan in which such a death has taken place must be abandoned and sealed with a hole left for the ghost or wind to leave. These ghosts or winds are thought to wander in the area and to be a possible source of witchcraft. However, a death occurring in a hooghan after a long and happy life is no threat to the peacefulness of the household and the windspirit if the person will undertake his trip of four [d'] days to the next word where he joins the diyinii.
