2 Natural Healers

Catrin Weiss by Florence Grube
Oct. 15, 2012
Catrin Weiss  is a natural healer. She is a German sister.

OUR SACRED MEDICINES

"Tobacco is the sacred herb of the East, the direction of Grandfather Sun, Eagle, and the Creator. We send our prayers up in its smoke, and Eagle takes them to the Creator. Thus, Tobacco also honors Eagle.

Cedar is the sacred herb of the South; it purifies as well as pulls positive energy into your sacred space with its smoke.

Sage is the sacred herb of the West, used in smudging to purify, and to send prayers to the Creator.

Sweet grass is the sacred herb of the North, a purifying herb used to cleanse the mind, body, and spirit. These herbs are also used in Ceremonies, for various purposes. - from Silvia Mamani

Deep Wisdom is a choice to receive.

"May I add to the sharing of knowledge what I learned from experience, and from the Okla-Choctaw elder, and teacher Rainbow Eagle? I'd like to share the more probing intimacies about our Sacred Medicines. Tobacco honors all energies. Sweet Grass makes no demands. It balances energies.

The Cedar sets up pathways, and invites all into relationship. Cedar asks, "Will you be helpful with this new family?" Cedar has been known to offer, "If you are going to leave here is a song." This is an honoring. Cedar honors in a very big, yet subtle way. The Sage, or the Prairie Sage sets up the womb for decisions. It sets place for spirits to move, hold space and be a container for a time. Sage holds the Womb together. When using Sage ask of her to help you respect all energies.

All of these Medicines have voices, and listen to us. This reciprocal relationship is beneficial as all good relations are, or could be." - Alowan Chanteh Inyan Wichasha

NATIVE AMERICAN RECIPE

a traditional woman

Warming Winter Stew

2 pounds boneless meat (either beef or bison chuck roast)
2 slices bacon, cut in small bits
1 Vidalia onion, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
3 pounds potatoes, peel on, cut in chunks
2 cloves garlic, mashed
½ cup red wine to deglaze pan
2 cups beef or vegetable broth
8 ounces canned whole tomatoes
Salt and pepper to taste
Season with ½ teaspoon each: thyme, sage, savory, juniper berries

Cook the carrots and potatoes together in a large pot of boiling water for 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Cook the cut-up bacon on the stove in a Dutch oven—a large, generally cast-iron pot, intended for use on the stove top or in the oven. When ready, remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside.

In the Dutch oven with the bacon drippings, brown the meat, garlic and onion on the stove top. Once browned, deglaze the Dutch oven with a little wine, scraping frequently. Next, add the potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, herbs, salt and pepper and broth to the Dutch oven. Cover and simmer all for two to three hours, stirring every half hour or so. Silvia Mamani Meneses

KEEPERS OF THE KEYS

Keepers of the Keys

From out of the mists of aeons past

Walk the keeper of the Keys

Holding their secrets locked within time

When all was one and No locks did bind

The Keepers knew our thoughts and held them Free

For they would speak Telepathically.

We were those Keepers of long ago

But we lost our way-now like sheep we go

Herded into Pen’s of Self

Condemned with Greed and thoughts of Wealth

We travel blindly led by fear

Losing our Roots with the passing of years

Listen now and Listen well

For our Ancestors once more do tell

Its time to open up all our Minds

And discover again the Key and find-

Within yourself a wealth of knowledge

Facts you’ll never find within any collage

Follow not blindly what you are told

Seek and find and soon you’ll behold-

A world you thought was real with fact

Was distorted and tainted,

Look for the Cracks

The Truth is out there, you all have the Key,

Just open your minds-look and see

Stop bleating your woes, and following the herd

Be Daring, Be Brave, let your voice be heard

Start looking back, trace the flower of Life

Look into the Apple, cut it open with knife

Take a bite, reveal the Real Sin,

Research beyond History, delve and look in

The Keepers return they watch and wait

To see who will awaken and open the gate

We all hold the Key- It’s held in the Mind

Look Beyond what you see

Seek and ye shall find…

FORMLESS

You are Life passing through your body,
passing through your mind,
passing through your soul.
Once you find that out,
not with logic, not with the intellect,
but because you can feel that Life -
you find out that you are,
the force that makes the flowers open and close,
that makes the hummingbird fly from flower to flower.
You find out that you are in every tree,
and you are in every animal, vegetable, and rock.
You are that force that moves the wind
and breathes through your body.
The whole universe is a living being that is moved by that force,
and that is what you are.
You are Life.

GOLDEN DREAM

Golden Dream by VICTOR CRISOSTOMO GOMEZ

Message from Mayan Master teacher Don Miguel Angel:

As many of you know, Dr. Carl Johan Calleman, who is a respected scholar and foremost researcher on the subject, states that his years of in-depth research in decoding the calendar have led him to believe that the culmination of the great cycle lines up on October 28th, 2011 rather than December 21, 2011. You can read his official statement of
his explanations in my previous post here.

When Saul asked Don Miguel Angel to clarify the confusion over the date, Don Miguel Angel answered by saying, that it’s not really about a particular date. He encouraged us to meditate and check in to what we feel connected to within our truth and to follow our intuition with what resonates.

This is the same message that the Mayan Grand Elder Wakatel Utiw / Wandering Wolf /Don Alejandro Cirilo Perez Oxlaj has been saying. Dr. Calleman in fact also echoes this sentiment by saying that “it’s not about a date, it’s a process.”

So regardless of the actual culminating date, which is really not an “end” anyway but rather a new beginning, we are in the midst of a great transformation and we are waking up to the truth of who we are.

The Ancient Mayans forsaw this time of great change and connectivity. Their vision and focus was on this age that we are living in. I believe this portal has already opened. I feel within me that the message that all these great teachers have confirmed is aligned.

Listening to the great wisdom shared by Don Miguel Angel was tremendous. I was moved by the experience and wanted to share some of the things that stayed with me. One of the most potent messages Don Miguel Angel shared was the importance to live our truth, to experience our own Divinity. ”Cielo… nirvana…heaven” are inside.

He said many masters have left the planet so we could lead this life by ourselves but not alone. In having moved on to other realms they are always with us, helping us. He said it’s time to find the “INNER TEACHER inside you, who you are, develop a real connection with the knowledge and wisdom inside of you.”

Profound words.

“Increase the life and love inside yourself” he advised and with complete relaxation, have faith and be inspired.

“We are the children of the Earth. We are Beings of the Sun. We are light.”

We are the center points between the cosmos and the earth, we are the connecting points between the roots of the earth and the branches of the cosmos. He said beautifully, “part of our being is connected to the stars and part of our being is connected to the Earth.”

As we are undergoing this re-alignment, and our planet is re-calibrating into balance, we are also internally mirroring this transformation. You can read more about these changes here and here.

In order to help balance and ground some of these energies, we should visit power places in nature if they are calling us. The Earth Mother is emanating powerful healing light grids in many spots all over the world.

Don Miguel Angel said that these sacred sites are catalysts that can open us to new energies, but know that wherever we are, we can access them within.

So remember that it’s not about a particular date. Like Don Miguel Angel said, find what is true for you and what resonates with you. The time is now. Tune in through your inner frequency. Find your teacher within and be present.

I am deeply grateful to have received these teachings, to Don Miguel Angel for his generosity of Spirit, and to Saul for opening these channels and always guiding us and grounding us into our truth.

In La Kesh

“I am another mirror…

of myself…

of you”

Peace

TOLTEC PROPHECIES

Silvia Mamani
March 23

Dear Relatives and Families in Light, Peace and Compassion,
Dear Sisters and Brothers from Towns and Cities,

Greetings from the Toltec Lands and Many Blessings from our Native Elders. We thank you for your support and for joining your prayers. ~Otomi Toltec Elders and Wisdom Keepers

Toltec Prophesies for 2012

The first vision: The sound of 8,000 drums sounding together, from all parts of the world, is the start of a new humankind and the healing of Mother Earth. This prophecy is complete. This ceremony took place in Mexico on March 21, 2004, at the Otomi Ceremonial Center. The number eight, in 8,000 drums, represents infinity—the eternal return.

The ceremony of the 8,000 drums will be celebrated every two years, until we reach 2012, at this ceremonial center in the mountains of Mexico, also Europe, Africa, and Asia. The purpose is to bring the rains and the yellow flowers, for the trees to sing and the birds to dance. The heart has to beat as the drum; the whole universe is like a great drum. When the drum ceases to play, it will be the return to darkness. The high frequency of 8,000 sacred drums created a great energy in the earth and opened an energy vortex that spread all around the world. It generates light that creates peace and awakens the consciousness of the people. We are crossing a bridge into a new cycle, which will strengthen peace, Mother Earth and humanity.

The second vision is in the dream of the ancients, who saw 52 pairs of snakes, spitting fire out of their mouth. In the center, there was a large fire that reached the clouds. The ancient ancestors were guarding the ceremony from there. They were recovering the solar calendar, and the calendar of the thirteen moons.

The third vision is for people to gather in places that are geologically unstable and ill, like contaminated rivers and polluted rivers. We must place sacred crystals at these sites, and do healing ceremonies with fire, for four days and four nights.

The fourth vision is of the sacred children. Some of these boys and girls have already been born—others are being born. One of them is in our land and there are more in other native villages. They bring the messages of the first humanity and are the messengers of Mother Earth, of life, and of peace. They can perform healings even with their eyes closed. They have been given a very strong light from Great Spirit, from Great Mystery, and from out Mother Earth. So with the guidance of the elders, they’re travelling and transmitting these messages for the healing of humanity.

The fifth vision is the birth of the ceremonial centers. Not all of them are pyramids. We also need to return to sacred places in nature—like sacred waterfalls and rivers. These places will be the home of knowledge and there will be cosmic healing centers at these sites.

The sixth vision is the prophecy of the eagle and the condor. There will be unity among all the people of the north and the south: Not just indigenous people of the north and the south, but throughout our planet. The bear spirit shall be present along with the buffalo, the quetzal, the deer, the moose, the jaguar—all the traditions with sacred animals. The sacred plants and birds will also be present.

The seventh vision is of the crystal heads. Many thousands of years ago, when our ancestors were giants, they carved these great heads and placed them at different places in the earth. Some of them were stone heads, also known as Olmec heads. They also made thirteen skulls of crystal. When they are brought together, a hologram is created. This way you can read the memory of time and space and you can discover the formula to heal humanity and bring harmony to the cosmos.

The eighth vision is of the yellow flowers. When I had a vision about this, about 13 years ago, I dreamt that I was in a desert, where there was no water. I took a hoe and started to open up the earth. As I was advancing, carving the earth, the desert was becoming green and lush. Yellow flowers appeared everywhere. I did a ceremony on Shoshone land in Bishop and the elders told the people that it was a rain ceremony: Yellow flowers appeared all over the land. Our mission is to go to the desert and do ceremony and bring back the yellow flowers. Out of these deserts—whether they are in Arizona, Africa, or Mexico—yellow flowers will spring forth as well as water.

The ninth vision is the resurgence of the first languages of the first humanity; languages that have been around since the creation of the world. Our ancestors are working to renew the ancient languages of the Atlanteans and Lemurians. The languages of the ancient Olmec, Toltec, and Teotihuacanos are one of the first languages of humanity. These ancestral languages hold the key to healing and transformation.

The tenth prophecy is that the elders will return to caves, grottos and to all places of power, to reactivate and make sacred these places. The religious authorities, in the past, told us that these caves were places of the devil. Some of our people still believe that these dark places have no light, no power, and no medicine, but these places never lost their power and light.

The eleventh vision is for the young people to return to the mother mountain and to return to the root of the sacred tree. They will return from the mountains with these ancestral powers and gifts.

The twelfth vision is that the Sleeping Woman must give birth. It’s all about respecting women as mothers, daughters, and partners. We can’t heal our humanity if we don’t first heal this relationship to women.

The thirteenth vision is about the Rainbow Bridge of 2012. There’s a planetary alignment in 2012, a stellar alignment, and this is written in the sacred stone that dates back thousands of years. So many people believe it is the end of the world and of time, and are in fear and don’t know what to do. Something must be done for 2012. Our ancestors say that we have to cross this bridge and continue on the journey—not just stay at the year 2012. Humanity will either cross this bridge or fall. Many of the elders are doing work so that we may cross that rainbow successfully.

Timely Exits

"You will notice even more persons choosing to exit this plane, of especial note are those persons one would not expect to exit due to health or age conditions, however many souls will wisely check certain personalities out of this plane because the personality cannot handle the incoming energies. There are more energies radiating from the Sun which will affect the body/mind/spirit continuum, and if the individual is unprepared by meditation, contemplation, or prayer many souls’ incarnations will not be able to withstand the pressure of these emanations from the Sun."

Medicine Teachings of Food

“The simplest things can turn us on!!! Science isn't sexy so how could science determine the sensual potency of chocolates & chilies??” – Gregory E. Woods

Food For Valentine's Day: Mexican Native Aphrodisiacs

A friend in Puebla recently arrived at a party with a handful of pamphlets on a symposium dedicated to the topic of aphrodisiac foods. While this largely conservative central Mexican city is not the first place one would imagine such a conference being held, it turns out that this event has taken place for a few years running. Coincidentally, an invitation to the presentation of a book on the subject in Mexico City just arrived.

All of this inspired an investigation of so-called "aphrodisiac foods" and revealed that many of those listed as such are Mexican natives. In fact, the two heading most lists, chile and chocolate, are probably the foods most commonly associated with Mexico, theoretically making mole poblano the most aphrodisiac dish imaginable, if one believes that some foods do indeed have libidinous effects.

While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration maintains that these results are based on folklore, rather than scientific fact, it is going against more than 5,000 years of tradition in several cultures throughout the world, beginning with the ancient Greeks, who named these substances after their goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite. Aphrodisiacs are defined as "substances claiming to increase libido" and fall into two groups.

Psycophysiological aphrodisiacs are those which are not taken internally, but rely on other senses such as visual, tactile and olfactory. An example of this is vanilla, whose scent, rather than any food value, is cited as an aphrodisiac and said to be the most popular mood-lifting aroma.

The second category includes food and drinks. (It also covers medicines, whether homeopathic or pharmaceutical.) It is in this category that foods native to Mexico make a prominent appearance.

The Aztecs, Maya and other Mesoamerican people, like most ancient cultures, considered procreation an important moral and religious obligation, and recognized the connection between nutrition and fertility. Food was harder to obtain than it is now, and great importance was placed on the nutritional value of certain foods as affecting the ability to reproduce.

However, not all of the credence placed in the aphrodisiac qualities of particular foods was based on nutrition. Resemblance to genitalia, especially in certain fruits, was sometimes thought to indicate a connection between that food and human fertility. A good example of this is the Aztec view of avocados, discussed below.

Whether or not some foods can function as aphrodisiacs, the fact remains that the most powerful stimulus of all is the mind, and if people believe a food to work in a certain way, the hope for a positive response might very well lead to that response. Even if there is no scientific basis in the libidinous qualities attributed to the following foods, most of them are pleasing to the sense of taste, sight, smell, or all three. Who can argue the appeal of the smooth, creamy texture of avocado, the heady scent of vanilla, the golden gleam of honey or the rich taste of chocolate?

Medicine Wheel of Food

The following list of foods are some Mexican menu suggestions for Valentine's Day or any occasion calling for the leisurely enjoyment of a good meal.

avocado (aguacate) Persea americana: The Aztecs called it ahuacatl, meaning "testicle tree," because of what they perceived as its resemblance to that part of the male anatomy. It does contain significant amounts of fiber, potassium, riboflavin and vitamins C, B6 and E, necessary for hormone production, as well as the antioxidant lutein. The delicious taste and smooth, sensual texture can't hurt, either. William Dampier, a nineteenth century English adventurer, said of the avocado, "It is reported that this Fruit provokes to Lust, and therefore is said to be much esteemed by the Spaniards."

chile (chile) Capsicum annuum: Chile, in its many sizes and shapes, is perhaps the quintessential Mexican cooking ingredient. It has possibly been associated with the libido because of the "rush" of heat it often produces. Chile is used in suggestive references in Mexican song and slang, as in the classic "La Llorona"- "I am like the green chile, hot but tasty." Bawdy references aside, chiles provide quantities of vitamins A and C, as well as increasing the metabolism by as much as twenty five percent after the ingestion of a chile-laced meal.

chocolate (chocolate) Theobroma cacao: The most popular of all Valentine's gifts, chocolate was so highly prized for its flavor and invigorating effects that cacao beans were used as money, and even counterfeited, during the days of the Aztec empire. The tale is told that the Emperor Moctezuma drank fifty golden goblets of chocolate a day to enhance his libido and assure the continuance of his line. A complex food source, chocolate contains theobromine, a substance related to caffeine, which explains the energy boost it provides, as well as phenylethylamine and seratonin, mood-lifting agents. These last two have been found to have a stronger effect on women than on men. Perhaps Casanova, who ate chocolate before attempting any of his many conquests, should have shared some with the ladies.

damiana (damiana) Turnera diffusa: This herb, native to Mexico's Baja peninsula, is used to make a tea widely believed in Mexico to be an aphrodisiac. It does have mild tranquilizing properties, and perhaps a relaxed feeling is the basis for this otherwise improvable assertion. It is used to make Damiana brand liqueur, which not-too-subtly promotes its claims by being sold in a bottle shaped like a pregnant woman. Be careful though, because too much has quite the opposite effect. As the porter in Macbeth said of alcohol, it "provokes the desire but takes away the performance."

honey (miel de abaja) Mel mellis: The basis for claiming honey to be an aphrodisiac probably has root in the misplaced belief in the libidinous effects of alcohol, since the Mayans made their ritual alcoholic beverage, balché, from honey. Today a delicious liqueur made from the honey of Mayan stingless bees is sold under the brand name Xtabentun, produced in the Yucatan. While it does not claim to have aphrodisiac effects, it does make a very good after-dinner drink and would make an exotic finale to any Mexican dinner.

oysters (ostiones) Ostreatus angasi: High in protein, oysters also contain large quantities of zinc, essential to the flow of oxygen through the bloodstream, essential to male reproductive ability. Because of their nutritional value, oysters were a high-status source of nourishment for Maya noblemen, who exerted political pressure on each other by controlling the distribution of oysters and other seafood.

passion fruit (maracuya) Passiflora edulis This is undoubtedly an example of the physical characteristics of a food being associated with fertility. Seeds have been universally taken to symbolize fertility, and the passion fruit is literally filled with them, as well as with a large quantity of juice rich in vitamins A and C. In Oaxaca, passion fruit pulp is mixed with mescal to make a cocktail characteristic of the region. While the aphrodisiac characteristics of this drink are uncertain, it does add to the conviviality of social occasions.

pineapple (piña) Ananas conosus: The taste, scent, and sweet juiciness of the pineapple have long been noted as being particularly appealing to the senses. The sixteenth century Spaniard Fernandez de Oviedo, instrumental in promoting Mexico's pineapples in the Spanish court, said that they "appealed to every sense but that of hearing." High in vitamin C, pineapple has frequently been used as a homeopathic treatment for impotence.

tomato (tomate, jitomate) Physalis, solanum lycopersicon: Although native to México, and an important part of the diet since pre-Hispanic times, the tomato was promoted as an aphrodisiac not by the Mexicans but by the French, who called it the "love apple." Perhaps its former exotic status as being a food from the New World contributed to this perception, and it may be because of this that some claim that the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden was not the apple at all, but the tomato.

vanilla (vainilla) Vanilla planifolia: The heady aroma of vanilla is said to increase desire, and whether or not this is true, its lovely scent is definitely a mood enhancer. Mexico's Totonac people, whose region is the original home of vanilla, tell a folk tale in which Xanat, the youngest daughter of a fertility goddess, fell in love with a Totonac youth. Since she was a goddess and he a human, they were unable to marry, and to express her eternal love, she transformed herself into the first vanilla plant, whose aroma would always provide him with pleasure. Scent and flavor aside, the story itself inspires romance.

Following are some suggestions for food to serve on Valentine's Day, which in Mexico is also known as El Día de Amor y Amistad -- The Day of Love and Friendship. Whether the aforementioned foods are truly aphrodesiac or not, the act of preparing food for someone is in itself an expression of affection.

Mousse de Aguacate: Avocado Mousse

Ensalada Mixta con Aderezo de Maracuya:
Mixed Green Salad with Passion Fruit Dressing

Ostiones al Horno: Baked Stuffed Oysters
