What is a 'Poker Run'? One of the comments I received made me realize that people outside of Florida may not know what a 'Poker run' is. So here is the recipe. You get a fast boat (40 knots or more), you put a few guys in it, add a bikini friend or 2 and then you drive down the river very fast and go from 1 location to another. You receive a playing card at each location. When you get to the end (and you only have so much time to get there, the faster the boat the better), you take the cards you received and play poker. Winner gets prizes plus a kiss from the bikini clad friends. Then you drive very fast back to the beginning and start drinking. That's about it. You can see this lovely lady is getting ready to 'pluck' a card from the dock. dec. 31. 12
"Amazing the things white folks think up for fun! I been telling my friends to get into it and join in on some of their fun! Every now and then abandoning the rigors of a work day and the mores of society is good for the soul.
The ancient Celts, before the Christians got to them, practiced balanced spirituality. The day or night before a couple of their holy days were their times to release their 'base' compulsions. Other societies before the missionaries practiced a similar way of balancing the elements living within them.
People don't stray too far from the patterns and unctions of their ancestors. Conscience thought about the spiritual base of the indigenous ancestors of Euro-Americans is often, I believe, mistaken for something else." - Gregory E. Woods 1.20.13
