To Judge Beauty

"The question of beauty in the context of religion often boils down to contempt and/or envy. In the book of Proverbs, I believe it is, the Word says, beauty is vain. From that point on Beauty has often found herself under scrutiny that is cruel and harsh. The dismissive tone of the words in that scripture rip the heart out of the glory women feel being beautiful. Thousands of tragedies have played out in women's lives misunderstanding themselves, and millions of women starved for validation have fallen into the arms of pimps and slavers. All of these things happen because of a basic struggle with worth within the context of religion. Narrowing the scope I am specifically talking about the Abrahamic offshoots." - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 12.18.13
