Creation vs Science

I noticed with the rise of dictatorial patriotism there has been a stronger resistance to anything perceived as 'un-American' or non-Christian. My sense is that our children will suffer. It is alarming to be in the richest country populated with a lot of close-minded people fearful of perceiving outside of their circle. But I understand that.

My approach is through stories. I am fascinated by what I study: the creation stories of other people and religions. The work is intense and revealing. Into the network of ancient mysteries are understandings held by people closer to the creation of this world.

Children and the old live close to the entrance of life and death; the womb of birth and death sharing an understanding and a clarity about the creative process of birth and dying; beginning and ending dissimilar to many who live in the space of activity we identify as adulthood.

I think we short out the dynamics of living by closing ourselves to what our ancestors explored freely and un-encumbered by what is happening to our lives in these times and this country today. There have been so many discoveries over the centuries. So many creative and daring souls who added so much to what our ancestors learned.

Science is growing into a mirror, a reflective agent of the ancient creation stories of a number of old cultures: the Yoruba’s IFÁ, the ancient Hebrew’s Kabbalah, for examples. Fear gives license to every form of oppression and the voices that shout down curiosity, discovery, revelation and knowing. I understand fear. But knowing that Life is composed of Math and Law I applaud everyone who strives to know, share and delve into the mysteries we were born into.

What is it within the times and country we live in today that is stifling the curiosity and creativity we were born with? What is making us? Are we nearing the time that other civilizations met near the end of their greatness? Is this the end result of believing souls are born into sin not mystery? How did conservatism become part and parcel of Christianity? When did conservatism become the voice of the people and the American way?

I don't have all the answers. I have questions. As long there are questions there is mystery to explore and Gods and Goddess to question.
