CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY

a Black family
January 26, 2014

The beer company, Anheuser Busch has started a campaign to get beer drinkers to think and be differently with and about beer, and drinking alcohol in general. It is as good idea. They pose interesting and compelling questions on their Facebook page for parents to ponder and weigh in on those subjects that inevitably lead to a change in thought and patterns.

"How is your new “family hour” going? Here’s an idea: try a time when distractions are minimized and your focus is already on your family — like during dinner – and use that as your “family hour”. It’s a great way to spend time together."

"How do you stay connected with your son or daughter when they’re away at college? What successes and learnings can you take from last semester?"

"What would you do? “My daughter is coming home from college next week. Although I look forward to it, I worry that I will be up every night waiting for her to come home. How do you re-establish rules when they have had so much freedom?”

The last question I responded thus: "There has to be honest talk, and a release of the idea of your grown child as a child has to occur. Sure the basic rules of your home are the same, but two people have grown, and changed. What applies to an 8 year old do not to a woman in her 20's." - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 5.25.14
