Miss Summer?

If you miss Bikini Bodies you need stay in the present and enjoy the moment and uncover what is beside you in your bed. It is a focus exercise. This time of year when it got real cold, and long before cell phones sucked the intimacy and the joy of being together on public transportation it was not unusual for Black men to openly declare their  intentions of finding a big Black woman to snuggle up with for warmth during the cold months. It was fun hearing big Black women matching their intent looking for men in the winter months to warm their beds.

I remember seeing a big Black woman, rolls and all, by herself on the train one exceptionally cold day. I lit up like a light bulb. She was fine, real pretty and everything about her was appealing and seductive. Typically, big women are self conscious about their weight except for Latinas and Black American women in the Washington DC area. It makes a difference in perception if you, as a man, spend a lot of time around that energy when you travel across the country. You have to be mindful of what you say because the sense of worth and the acceptance of self big women hold dear to their identities is not common everywhere else. Such has been my experience. But, forget all that. Back to the story.

The woman I was talking about look up with humor and hope and slid over as much as she could which wasn't much because sitting spread her out making her thighs more appealing. Her eyes sized me up quickly devouring my discretion.

"Can I sit here?" I asked.

Dumb question. It was obvious she would let me sit down. She'd already moved over.

"You OK? Got enough room?" she teased. I was stuck between the hard plastic of the arm rest and her soft rolls. I was excited being that close and said as much to her in appreciation. It felt good the closeness and we fell into conversation both of us measuring the mood, the vibe and speculating about the size of her bed with me in it. It was a warm thought and not hidden from the audience of fellow travelers a very sexy vibration sizzling between us.

By the time I got off at my stop we were comfortably dreading the eventuality of separating. I was aroused and she most likely was too, but I felt we held secret our relationships at home waiting for us to get back home. The trust our lovers held was compelling and demanding all of our strength not to exchange numbers and get together that night or later in the week. It was a tough choice, but it was made.

I held her hands lovingly looking into her eyes and said the words that meant 'goodbye I wish we could make love later on after work', but came out polite and riddled with sexual innuendo. You see Black women with all their weight and challenges preen on the inside. It is a contrast to famous beauties who flaunt and preen on the outside and create followings. The other women I am talking about are another creature creating something adoration will eventually need to complain about its destiny to slowly become devoted to the internal ideal of sensuality. - Gregory E. 9/11 After math is science & study!

Kris Jenner interviewed by Savannah Guthrie

the Story

The Today Show took a lot of flack for interviewing reality star and business woman, Kris Jenner instead of switching to the President's memorial for the 9/11 victims. In their defense NBC sighted their considerable work on the subject during their morning show. They aired the moment of silence during its West coast broadcast. The network's local affiliate WNBC-4, moreover, cut the "Today" Show to air its self-produced special coverage to commemorate the victims of the 9/11 attacks.

Good for them.

Showing respect for the dead I understand. Honoring the dead who were surprised into their deaths as if they were heroes is and has always been baffling a conclusion to draw, for me. Pausing respectful with a heavy heart for the sudden and awful way those three thousand people died in New York, DC, and Pennsylvania is very much in the make up and part of who we are as a species. But, as a man my national question leads me away from sentimentality and wants to know what was gained, or learned from those deaths? If our entire purpose of honoring those people is to sustain the initial emotions after the attacks we are imbeciles, or more politely a people not worthy of global concern. If those deaths have taught us anything it has shown us how we are perceived as a nation. Whether and how we accept, respond and believe about ourselves our mythology determines some consequences down the road we certainly are not ready for. If we were visionaries or simply honest we'd see how to be logical and follow the trail of our beliefs and study the ripple effects of our actions. Do we? No, I submit we don't and can't because of our national beliefs, our history, and our structural non-analysis of our core institution: slavery!

Now, what is the spirit behind the complaint against the Today Show's producers and NBC decision makers? What are the complaints and how could anyone be offended? Is the network being told to 'follow the bouncing ball', or else by the public? That's is bullying. That is what it is: bullying. It is the same kind of bullying that earmarked the following years after the attacks: dictatorial patriotism!

There is something in the air indiscernible to one sensibility and clear to another, and it is what we have not learned as a nation about ourselves. How do we move past the mentality that narrows reconciliation into oblivion? How do we move through our national biases and plunge into what ails our soul? There are more and more fundamental questions to ask of ourselves individually and collectively. But, the fundamental question is do we want to form those questions into action? Apparently not. If not now, when? When it is too late and the chickens have come home to roost?

SOCIAL CHANGE

reality stars Nene Leakes, Sheree Whitfield, Lisa Wu Hartwell, Kandi Burruss, & Kim Zolciak of Atlanta !!!!

The tendency is to shove 'reality stars' into a dusty drawer. They come across, more often than not, as assholes, or stupid, insipid, or shallow. The first 'reality show' was in the 1970's, and the outrage of the public centered around the violation of privacy.  The networks backed off, and new technologies were packaged and sold simplifying life, and creating an elite class mentality amongst regular citizens. Laws were passed that slowly eroded the rights of citizens while jobs leaving the country were barely noticed by a population distracted by their pride in their ignorance, and the comforts of modern life. Presidents performed on stage for three, and four decades before a public that needed entertainment, and soft sells that matched their education levels. Gossips replace introspective, and hard news analysis, and reality show stars were studied from head to toe, and gossiped about to the distraction of a populace smug in the clusterfuck of their existence, and place in the world as a super power.

Many things occured during the Great Sleep. Roused from their sleep millions of US citizens found themselves poor, unemployable, and scantly clad in the images they dreamed of as reality. The Earth, our Mother is changing her form, and the state of mind of millions of US citizens is so profoundly locked in a dysfunctional paradigm they cannot see with clarity.

What is your spiritual responsibility in these times?
