Old Nature, New Day.

Alishaaa Mae moist with the glee of being freed from childhood into the beginning of discovering the nature of being a woman. That means there are paths to explore. Any old woman would tell her that. A wise one will show her how! Alishaaa Mae in the quest for who she can become as a woman makes her discoveries. "Are they not as important as landing on the moon, the stars?" is an obvious question. Without a translation what does the Punany say to the soul? ~ Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 10/30/18

Wadi Rum (‘The Valley of the Moon’) in Jordan

Wadi Rum’s forbidding landscapes don’t look particularly hospitable, but people have lived here since prehistoric times. This extraordinary region of sand seas and towering mountains in southern Jordan includes ancient Thamudic petroglyphs carved into cliff faces. Byzantine monks seeking the ascetic life are said to have taken up residence in this harsh desert. And over the centuries, nomadic Bedouins have traversed the scorching sands, as they still do to this day.

Moviemakers are also drawn to the severe majesty here: Many films have Wadi Rum to thank for some of their epic sweep, including ‘Lawrence of Arabia,’ ‘The Martian,’ and the Star Wars spin-off, ‘Rogue One.’ ~ anon

Henna design on Marcy S. DePina somewhere in Marrakech, December 17, 2012.

I have fond memories of Marrakech. The Medina! The best place to go in any city.

Back when I was young in Morocco, and in ancient times henna was part of the evidence of women's exclusivity in a culture moored in the dominance of men, and Islam and the prophet Mohammed. There was, and is hidden sacred power women held within themselves. Rituals, like drawing geometric designs on hands, and face (I never saw a woman's feet) maintained mystique and quiet powers within the household, and the men they married, and loved. It was deep the love a boy had for his mother, but at the age he went with the men created adoration for Mother, the way a man feels with deeper appreciation for the roles played by both genders.
There is a lot in Henna. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 10/30/18

A Riddle to Existence.

Feet shaped by heels!!!!

Women do not care the damage to their bodies as long as their feet can wear and look good in high heels. It was proven during the 1990's on a few talk shows that were quite graphic and complete in their revelations about the needless deterioration of the body parts affected by the altered state of being in a body supported by heels. So, in that spirit of understanding let it be said: "all lives depend upon the relationship between living and Death, as a force of change, transformation or judgment."

It is, admittingly, a strange thing to evaluate if one is vain enough to believe against the facts of imbalance vs. beauty and acceptance. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 5/8/17

WHITE FENCE, WHITE DREAM, WHITE X'MAS

white dress worn by Frances O'Connor near a white picket fence!!!!

For those who don't know the reference to the white picket fence it is part of the ideal of what is the American Dream! When people refer to the American Dream it is a house with a lawn and a white picket fence. Early in the twentieth century the image of the blood spreading across the West had to be replaced with a happy image that belied any reference to white American's bloody siege over Turtle Island. The image was played in countless movies, illustrated on posters, painted as portraits, read in novels, comics, heard on radio and so on... The image was and is always white with white women center-focused as the epitome of serenity, home cooked meals, perfection! In short, she became the unattainable, but no less desired icon. Those of color couldn't run from the image so deeply was and is it implanted within our education and religious systems.

The image is dangerous in international circles and cultures. The integrity of the concept of white supremacy has not enhanced friendships, relationships, the legacy written in land, industry, custom or families. White supremacy has made void the valuable mysteries of the world making way for vulgarities previously undreamed. How to ascend and become not the opposite, but the better of mankind is a spiritual endeavor that reverses the present order of what success is!

People are asking questions. They understand. You don't look for answers you ask questions. TV audiences are asking why older white women, and older women of color are not represented in local and national news shows? People are questioning the type of women who run for political office asking to themselves, and later out loud; why are these women's wombs closed? These are some of the questions leaning public acceptance towards right action. What are you asking of yourself? - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 8.9.14

The Ceremony of the Huntress

Tamala Jones

Eartha Kitt sitting in a chair. Had I been in this room how would I have held to my will?

Well into her old age Eartha Kitt frightened me with her beauty and lured me with her dynamic powers of hypnosis. In her presence it must have been nearly impossible for a man to resist her if her desire was fixated on him! In life a man will meet such a woman, at least once, and then he will see how strong his strength is, and how true to convictions he can stand near her. - Gregory E. Bare Feet to Earth

walking barefoot
"So... Walking barefoot on soft ground, walking barefoot on the stone, on the sand, on the hardened lava, on the foam, on the fresh grass, in water, in the mud... but barefoot, always, without ceasing. Splat, splat. While walking, activate your energy pump, revive an ignored vital function, eat the good vibrations of the earth. Flap-flap, suckle the source, smell, vibrate, dance in the diaphanous air, evaporate in the dew, barefoot, slowly, for a long time, until tomorrow that will come." - Eden Saga (11.13,14)

Shield of Peace

Peace is a shield, a buckler for any who attain peace as an attribute. It isn't the absent of war, or conflicts. It is the settlement, the place a soul lives as authentically as possible. Purity is a form of divinity. Silence is a source of strength best grasped in the cultural settings of indigenous peoples linked to the time honored craft of being still in the presence of Elders, the movement of sound, and the spirit-that-moves-in-all-things. Maturity one arrives at through the challenges of immaturity, and self-absorption. Adulthood is the stage of life that comes whether one is prepared or not. It is a stage of life. Giving birth to oneself is impossible. Birthing of one's Sacred Dream is within the relationship between the Masculine and the Feminine principles of Creation. It is all the process of Breath. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 5.12.13

COUNSEL

Forgiveness

"How much effort would you put forward to help a so called friend if in times of power grabbing he is found working with the enemy and trying to destroy you?" ~ anon

During the hurt I would hurt. But, as it subsides I would speak my thoughts, and react according to my personality. My decision to distance myself is contingent upon the words of his heart. Distance is the best thing in the immediate future as the incident and wise counsel wed and consummate their union. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 6.27.14

MARRIED with grace?

Clint & Dina Eastwood in 2010 at the Governor's Awards at the Grand Ball Room.
Today, legendary actor/ director Clint Eastwood is 82 years old with two grown daughters, one a 40 year old , Alison, and a 47 year old wife! How? is a common reaction to the revelation. How does a man that old keep a marriage as long as theirs. They were wed in 1996.

The first assumption is his wealth, but money can't sustain love, or does it? Financial woes has long been sighted as the cause of most of divorces. Infidelity, cruelty, boredom, etc. These have contributed to the dissolution of marriages, but the financial piece is the heavy hitter in a capitalistic culture.  Women have long sought financial security in their marriages, and traditional societies since ancient times deemed the fitness of a man's ability to provide as a major contribution to the esteem of the families, clan, tribe, and their futures. If judgments of this sort determine respect so does the ability to produce healthy children, protect his family, garner and maintain respect, and most important have a good family name!

Stability, marriage, and love are, as the song goes, 'a many splendored thing'. So, what do we ask ourselves of Mr. Eastwood's choice of mate? If we were sitting with him, and the subject came up how would one learn what he understands about marriage? How does one approach the Elders with questions fundamental to young people's maturation should that be a top priority, but alas the nature of American's is self-centered, fearful, and too narrow to grasp the depth of these need. In this society Eldership is a wisp of air, a footnote, something quaint and cute to recall. It isn't vital to economic stability, but the imbalance due to the disregard for Eldership is a root of the soulless quality of American life.

Asking, or admiring Hollywood marriages isn't the wisest thing to do. If your quest is to understand, and develop deep insight into the deeper mysteries in the oldest and most important, and powerful of unions between a man and woman look around you, and the place you live and work!

Clint Eastwood was first married for 31 years to Maggie Johnson. He followed this marriage with actress and singer Sondra Locke as his girlfriend for 14 years. They made some good movies together. Six movies I believe they made together. I saw a few of them. After they broke up Clint Eastwood met one of my favorite beauties, and actress, Frances Fisher, and they had a daughter, Francesca, now 16. Five years later she was free of him, and I was unsuccessful getting her attention. My recollection was the two split after Clint met Dina Ruiz, who was 35 years younger than him. They married in 1996.

As far as I know Frances Fischer is single and unavailable for a casual lunch, or coffee in LA somewhere. Pity, I am all the way on the East coast.  - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 4.26.13

IN Prayer

One of 2010 calendar pictures. - Xanny

"What is said in prayer, said in silence sits with and within us the way light sits in front of darkness with revelations about the next day. To come into the kindness of dusk is to sit at the end of a day lived fully is the best way to end a day. It is like a little death the release into dusk knowing the night will come, that night comes with rest and sleep into the black of closed eyes, and the awakening into the dreams in the sacred Dreamtime, where our souls live without the body during the nights our bodies rest in slumber!

So, it is prayer, the language not prayer, the crier, that touches the tenderness of our vulnerabilities. Hmmm... Do you see that?" - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 2.24.14
