in the Tradition of Judgment: Eva Braun, Sharia Law & Iranian women
![]() |
| Hitler & Eva Braun, photo AP |
Hitler has been called a 'sick fucker' by a lot of people over the decades. It is a deserved moniker. But I am not here to denounce his life. I am thinking about him oddly in relationship to the hanging of an Iranian woman who allegedly killed Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former intelligence officer, for trying to rape her seven (7) years ago. The courts did not believe her statement.
Columnist, David Blair for the Telegraph reported: "... Miss Jabbari was sentenced to death in 2009 after what Amnesty called a “deeply flawed investigation”. She admitted stabbing Morteza Abdolali Sarbandi, a former intelligence ministry official, but pleaded self-defence. On her account, she stabbed Sarbandi in the back as he was trying to rape her – but the victim was actually killed by another named person, who was never the focus of inquiry.
Amnesty said these claims “if proven” could have exonerated Miss Jabari. But they were never “properly investigated, raising many questions about the circumstances of the killing”.
Amnesty added that the judiciary had “pressured” Miss Jabbari to “replace her lawyer, Mohammad Ali Jedari Foroughi, for a more inexperienced one, in an apparent attempt to prevent an investigation of her claims”...
According to 2009 testimony Miss Jabbari purchased a knife two days prior to the stabbing. That can be read as a woman, or an American, or as a man. It was read and judged by men.
Her execution could have been avoided in the end had the victim's family accepted the offering of 'blood money'. They didn't, or couldn't or wouldn't forgive her. Probably in the spirit of deep grieving, and a need for retaliation they couldn't accept the chance to be merciful. What is troubling is that any of the women in the victim's family could easily have been in the same situation, or have acid thrown in their faces by a husband for reasons that are always judging and accessing the value of women's actions against the honor of a man and/or his family. This reality is integral to Iranian life, it seems, and its interpretation of the Holy Qu'ran.
The Tehran prosecution office rejected the claim of rape. The evidence showed otherwise. I don't know the evidence the prosecution looked at, but with the name of the man who actually killed Mr. Sarbani the courts rejected following that line of evidence and bent itself into prosecuting Miss Jabbari to her death! That leads to a question: Who is this man she killed? Another logical question follows good reasoning: What is being protected in a severe male-dominated country like Iran? Is it the right to power over women's destiny and their bodies?
I was asked to participate in the Women's Federation For World Peace USA yesterday in Washington DC in a ceremonial capacity. As I shared before the assembly of mostly women from around the globe the deep feeling of honesty settled within me. In my words I shared several things, a story, and the drum. The first thing I noticed in the eyes of a few of the women when my wife and I entered the lobby was women just learning how to look in a man's eyes and smile. Sharing that insight in front of a room of women deeply involved in the many issues of world peace, inner strength and beauty of spirit and women's issues at the international level provided an elder's insight into the depth of what is treated, often, with trepidation and a fear of boldness in other circles.
But in the Islamic world ideas of women's freedom are measured differently by men, and regarded fearfully (I imagine) by women in those Islamic run countries! The fundamentalist group literally scare the shit out me, and out of reason when you get right down to it and also create a growing desire to do something concrete in either the physical or the intangible worlds of power to disintegrate their power. But, this process starts with study and research into the belief systems and laws at work here. If you are not willing to do this and war seems to be the only option then these bloody wars will continue to add nausea to life. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 10.26.14

ISIS Points to Sharia Law to Justify Slavery of Women
BY MEIRA SVIRSKY
Mon, October 13, 2014
In the latest edition of Dabiq, the Islamic State’s slick, English magazine, the group offers a theological justification for capturing "infidel" women to be used as sex slaves. The brutal group is holding thousands of Yazidi women and girls and subjecting them to horrific violent, sexual abuse.
In an article titled, “The Revival of Slavery Before the Hour” (“Hour” referring to “Judgment Day”), the magazine concludes that since the Yazidi religion pre-dates Islam, its followers are to be dealt with according to the laws of the mushrik (polytheists). The article explains:
“Accordingly, the Islamic State dealt with this group as the majority of fuqaha [experts in Islamic jurisprudence] have indicated … Unlike the Jews and Christians, there was no room for the jizyah payment. Also, their women could be enslaved unlike female apostates who the majority of fuqaha say cannot be enslaved and can only be given an ultimatum to repent or face the sword.”
The magazine goes on to explain what happened when Islamic State fighters captured the Sinjar region of Iraq, which was inhabited by the ancient population of the Yazidis:
“After capture, the Yazidi women and children were then divided according to the Shari’ah amongst the fighters of the Islamic State who participated in the Sinjar operations, after one fifth of the slaves were transferred to the Islamic State’s authority to be divided as khums [the obligatory tithe of one-fifth of all war spoils that jihadi fighters must pay to the caliph].”
The article proudly announces the revival of the sharia institution of slavery of infidels, saying, “This large-scale enslavement of mushrik families is probably the first since the abandonment of this Sharia’ah law. The only other known case – albeit much smaller – is that of the enslavement of Christian women and children in the Philippines and Nigeria by the mujahidin [jihadis] there.”
The article reminds its readers that the legality of slavery is established in sharia (Islamic) law, saying, “Before Shaytan [Satan] reveals his doubts to the weak-minded and weak hearted, one should remember that enslaving the families of the kuffar [infidels] and taking their women as concubines is a firmly established aspect of the Shari’ah that if one were to deny or mock, he would be denying or mocking the verses of the Qur’an and the narration of the Prophet … and thereby apostatizing from Islam.”
Indeed, the Quran condones and justifies slavery in a number of verses, specifically in the context of war booty and concubines. Hundreds of the Hadiths (saying of the Islamic prophet Mohammed) deal with the jurisprudence of Islamic slaves. Both indicate the institution's clear sanction by sharia law.
Although 126 contemporary Islamist leaders and scholars recently signed a letter denouncing the actions of the Islamic State, the letter unfortunately endorses the Islamic State’s goals of rebuilding the caliphate, establishing sharia law and instituting the brutal hudud [punishments for the most severe crimes].
The letter, which was addressed to the self-declared caliph of the Islamic State, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was signed and presented in Washington by Nihad Awad, executive director and founder of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR).
The criticism of the Islamic State by the scholars that signed the letter is that the terrorist group is not “following the correct procedures that ensure justice and mercy.”
However, endorsing sharia law, point 5 of the letter states, “What is meant by ‘practical jurisprudence’ is the process of applying Shari’ah rulings and dealing with them according to the realities and circumstances that people are living under.”
The letter continues, “Practical jurisprudence [fiqh al-waq’i] considers the texts that are applicable to peoples realities at a particular time, and the obligations that can be postponed until they are able to be met or delayed based on their capabilities.”
Far from distancing themselves from the implementation of sharia law by the Islamic State, the above statements are an endorsement of the Islamist doctrine of "gradualism." This is an incremental strategy for establishing sharia governance, supporting jihad and advancing the Islamist cause.
Point 16 of the letter states, “Hudud punishments are fixed in the Qu’ran and Hadith and are unquestionably obligatory in Islamic Law.”
Point 22 of the letter states, “There is agreement (ittifaq) among scholars that a caliphate is an obligation upon the Ummah. The Ummah has lacked a caliphate since 1924 CE. However, a new caliphate requires consensus from Muslims and not just from those in a small corner of the world.”
Thus, it is clear that the signatories of the letter, while purporting to be “moderate,” endorse the principles of the Islamic State and other jihadists but criticize their implementation.
Just as the West has been firm in rejecting the objectives of the Islamic State, it should not be swayed by the Islamic State’s contemporary counterparts who equally endorse Islamic extremism through the implementation of sharia law -- however gradual.
If we were sons in these cultures where would our hearts be, how would our states of mind be in what is unavoidably a clusterfuck of ideals and delusions?

Ourselves in THEM!
Chicks On The Right
"We are not far removed from this general idea and practice in the States. It glares out at us many times in the judicial system, amongst Christian lay persons, citizens, and in practice on the streets in every neighborhood this attitude persists. The West is not better. Our social progress has been made in small and medium steps. The biggest enemy to women's rights worldwide has proven to be the strict religious conservative elements of the major religions. That reality even threatens what we've gained here in the United States.
The American education system makes us Indians invisible for reasons I won't discuss here. But, here in Indian country the number of Indian woman's raped and dead bodies scattered about is staggering, unsettling and terrifying! We are laughing at those people in the Middle East as if there is no relationship between us and them. I may be tied to the Republican party, but I didn't stop studying, traveling and listening to the stories of every person who has shared their stories with me." - Gregory E. Miss Philippines crowned Miss World amid Muslim anger

Gde Putra Wicaksana
Nusa Dua (Indonesia) (AFP) - Miss Philippines was crowned Miss World 2013 in a glittering finale Saturday on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, amid tight security following weeks of hardline Muslim protests.
Hundreds of Islamic radicals held a prayer session in a mosque near the capital to express their anger, while Megan Young wept as she won the coveted title on Hindu-majority Bali at the end of a three-week contest.
The 23-year-old, wearing a pearl white gown, promised to be "the best Miss World ever" in front of a cheering crowd, which included many Filipinos, in a venue guarded by heavily armed police and water cannons.
The final was moved to Bali, where there is little hardline influence, from its original venue just outside the capital Jakarta after thousands of protesters took to the streets across the world's most populous Muslim-majority country.
Denouncing the pageant as a "whore contest" and "pornography", the demonstrators pressured authorities into shifting the venue, the latest sign of the growing influence of country's hardline fringe.
Hundreds of police were deployed across Bali for Saturday's final, which saw 127 contestants clad in stilettos and shimmering gowns take to the stage in the Nusa Dua resort, southern Bali.
The contestants were quickly whittled down to six. Then, they faced a question-and-answer round before the winner was announced in a contest broadcast to more than 180 countries.
Young, the first ever Philippine Miss World, took the crown from last year's winner, China's Yu Wenxia.
Young, who is studying digital media and also presents TV shows in the Philippines, pledged to "just be myself in everything I do, to share what I know and to educate people".
France's Marine Lorphelin was second, while Ghana's Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter came in third.
Adding to security concerns in the run-up to the final, the American, British and Australian embassies had warned that extremists might attack the pageant.
Bali has suffered extremist attacks before, notably in 2002 when bombings killed more than 200 people, most of them foreign tourists.
But Saturday's finale passed off smoothly, with no new protests or security scares -- despite a pledge by prominent hardline group the Islamic Defenders' Front (FPI) to stage demonstrations.
Hundreds of members of the FPI and other hardline groups limited themselves to holding a prayer session in a mosque in Sentul, just outside the capital Jakarta, to express their opposition to the pageant.
Organisers had originally planned to hold the final in a 10,000-seat venue in Sentul, before being forced to move to a 2,000-seat centre in Nusa Dua.
Those at the prayer gathering were addressed by a Muslim preacher who lashed out at the pageant, which radicals claim goes against Islamic teaching, said FPI member Ustad Maman.
"Indonesia has already shown how it feels about Miss World -- we rejected it here, we reject it anywhere," he told AFP.
Maman said that 5,000 FPI members showed up for the prayer session, although police put the figure at 1,000.
Hardliners in Indonesia have succeeded in getting numerous events deemed "un-Islamic" changed or cancelled in recent times.
Last year, Lady Gaga axed a concert after threats to burn down the venue and criticism for wearing only "a bra and panties".
In a bid to reduce hardline anger, organisers also took an early decision this year to axe the famed bikinis from the "beach fashion" round, replacing them with Balinese sarongs.
A total of 129 contestants had been due to compete in the final, but two pulled out at the last minute, according to organisers.
While the popularity of Miss World, first held in 1951, has waned in the West, continued interest in Asian countries ensures that the final rakes in a huge global television audience.
Venezuela has produced the most Miss Worlds, with six winners, while India and Britain claim five titles each.

TO BE A SAUDI WOMAN

Saudi Arabia is a conservative monarchy backed by religious scholars. It upholds an austere form of Sunni Islam and gives wide powers to clerics who dominate the judicial system and run their own police squad to enforce religious morals.
King Abdullah has pushed some cautious social reforms in Saudi Arabia, including efforts to bring more women into the workforce and to give them a voice in policy making by appointing them to the advisory Shoura Council. by Mahmoud Habboush

COMMENTARY of article
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, because I'm not exactly sure, but isn't Dubai in United Arab Emirates and NOT Saudi Arabia? - John
No, you are correct, but while the story is about Saudi Arabia, the author was smart enough to get out of the country before he published the story of the Government's enforcement of Sharia Law in Saudi Arabia. - John Lombardi
The location at the top of the article is usually where the journalist is stationed, not where the story takes place. This is why you'll often see articles that say "New York" talking about places clear across the country. - Rebecca
Somehow, I feel that any institution that denies basic rights and needs to half of the population is doomed to fail. Before long there will be a woman's movement in Islam much like The Lysistrata - Dallas Sux

WESTERN CHRISTIANITY vs.AFRICAN ISLAM
“The Boko Haram earlier this week said that all Christians need to turn to Islam or ‘they would never know peace again."
I drop my head in horrified silence as Muslims kill hundreds of Christians to make Nigeria a Muslim state under the Sharia Law. The idiocy of fundamentalism jumps from one side to the other. Two religions related to each other with the same patriarchs, and the jest of all those teachings from and about universal truths and the depth of their spirituality is bloodletting in the name of God/Allah? No intelligent person would join such a group.
Over the years I have heard Christians and their pastors and Muslims zealots, and Imans speak of violently overthrowing free thought, and expression with both sound and ridiculous arguments, but each time I hear their points of view and contention I think to myself, "If you say something not founded in logic, or fact enough times an idiot will swear he is hearing the truth." - Gregory E. FEAR: 13 States Introduce Useless Bills to Ban Sharia Law
by Jamilla King
http://colorlines.com/archives/2011/02/13_states_introduce_bills_to_ban_sharia_law.html
Are you ever afraid that fundamentalist Muslim extremists will take over your state court house? That’s the idea behind the radical right’s peddling of the myth that the Islamic legal code Sharia law will somehow make its way to the United States. The code is usually represented in the West as one mandating that rape victims or battered wives be stoned to death, and more broadly pointed to as evidence Islam’s mythical barbarism. Those sorts of ideas have formed the undercurrent of anti-Muslim sentiment in the U.S. for decades.
Now, over a dozen states are taking the same misguided road traveled by voters in Oklahoma who passed a bill to guard against the non-existent threat of Sharia law on America’s shores. The attempt was largely criticized for unfairly targeting and blaming Muslims, a reason cited by Federal Court Judge Vicki Miles-LeGrange in the decision to issue a federal injunction. But that hasn’t stopped more than a dozen other states from forging ahead. Think Progress has this round-up:

SHARIA LAW, TRIBAL SOVEREIGNTY & the CONSTITUTION

"Oklahoma residents' lack of understanding international law will be to their detriment. There is a lot of pride in ignorance, in not knowing or understanding in the United States. It has hampered growth, and relationships among other things and is a far cry from the appropriate thinking a citizen of a major global power should have... "A federal appeals court has upheld an injunction blocking a state constitution amendment to ban judicial consideration of Sharia or other international law.
The “Save Our State Amendment” was approved by 70 percent of voters in the November 2010 election. Shortly afterward, Oklahoma resident Muneer Awad — executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations in the state — sued to block the State Election Board from certifying the results, a step necessary for the amendment to go into effect.
Among the claims in the lawsuit, Awad said the amendment would stigmatize Muslims, foster excessive entanglement between the government and his religion and prevent a court from being able to probate his last will and testament, which contains references to Sharia law..."
The second half of the amendment “forbids courts from considering or using international law,” which was defined in the ballot question as including “countries, states and tribes” and coming from “international agreements, as well as treaties.”
Williams said the vague wording could interfere with the state’s agreements with Oklahoma tribes that are considered sovereign states, or it could impede agreements between Oklahoma and international companies. He cited Devon Energy’s announcement earlier this week that it had sold energy plays to a Chinese company for $2.2 billion.
“I’m sure international law was involved in that, and a lot of it benefited a remarkable Oklahoma company,” Williams said." - By Ricky O'Bannon

DANGER
One of the basic things we need not take for granted is the rights of women to be upheld by the decency of heart, good intent in the advent of change, or within the conservative spectrum of government, commerce, or religion. Quickly the feeling of Americans spreads across the globe from our comfort levels conveying a sense of permanence in the advancement of not only our cultural dominance, but also our understanding of freedom. What we think of, as the rights of a woman are not shared the world over, or within the United States of America.
The spiritual and intellectual division hidden within the sense of entitlement engraved within male dominance has flaunted its self, for centuries, over the 'weaker sex' and has grown strong as Death. As women have gained footholds within the economies of their countries millions of men humbled by the progression of women's political agendas have managed to continually stare at women's pussies with hardening hearts and the desire to exert terror and dominance over "it" and them. It showed up in Libya after Gadhafi’s murder. The first thing the new government introduced was the authority of the Sharia laws. Sharia began to take away and dismantle women's gains parting their legs for routine examinations to evaluate its merits, and worthiness. Studies, and history reveal this trend among patriarchal societies, and the United States, and the churches of Jesus Christ, the holy mosques, and synagogues have the same propensity for violence, and the good ol' days of male supremacy in the name of Jesus, of Allah, of G-d needs to be, or feel more powerful than pussy, and the Womb.
These are the times we live in. These are the dangers to our mothers, our daughters, our wives, sisters, and the grandmothers who in their old age could take things to another level of consciousness and frighten immature men with their sorcery, their magic, and with their witchcraft recreate the world. After all according to the Bible it was by Magic the Father created the world. By the Mother judgment entered the world through Eve. Witchcraft seen in the light of the fears of women's vagina, the power of the Punany as a force of Will, and the Womb teachings that fundamentally created and shaped the world(s) we live in is dangerous to a man whose mind reduces women down to pussy he can get. The misunderstanding of pussy is the misunderstood ideology of Punany Poets, the misdiagnosis of the menstrual cycles, the fears of an aging woman, and the entry point for the end of civilization as it is, and the beginning of Life as it could be.

DREAMS OF RELATIONSHIPS
“I sometimes wonder how much of our expectations lie in fantasy, and how much of our dreams govern our lives. While dreaming the songs of my life as a boy I never heard songs that questioned the dreams of my life, my ideals, and ideas until I was a teenager listening to the fragments of dreams dreamt by peers.” – Dawn Wolf, Keeper of Stories
