· The turtle represents the Traditions of Earth. The turtle sings of the four directions, of the many Harmonies that exist within Tradition. One of these harmonies is the intercourse between man and woman to procreate.


· The coyote is the Gentle Trickster. He is all those things that trick us into learning.
· The river is symbolic of the Spirit of life.

· The balance of the four directions within the North (wisdom) is the place of Wisdom balanced within the Four Great Directions.

· Dragonfly represents all that causes us to fixate upon one thing to be hypnotized.

· The Dog represents the servants among the People.
· Sweet Grass is the Earth or Mother symbol. Braided sweet grass says these things of the Earth are within our experience.

· The Mouse perceives only what is close to it. The teaching is that when we look too closely within our introspection, we may sit too much within the circle of ourselves to perceive anything clearly. To perceive the circle of the West we must first move outside of it.

The Medicine Wheel is the Mirroring of the Great Spirit, the Universe, among man. We are all the Medicine River, and the Universe is the Medicine River that Man is mirrored upon. And we in turn see the Medicines of Men Mirrored in the Universe.
