no heavy stuff, just easy light stuff...

Hi readers,

Well this week has been slightly crazy, I never seemed to stop moving but I did take Sunday off to hang all of my art in my apartment in Dublin. I am in the middle of doing it all up so once it’s done I’ll share some pictures with you guys. I’ve been quite busy with work this week, I had a few days filming and when my week is like that I feel like I’m always trying to catch up with all of my blog work and writing but I managed to get everything done. . . New York Fashion Week Accessories Remixed
Elizabeth Keene at A Keene Sense of Style, fashion blogger from Los Angeles, CA.
Wednesday, September 14, 2016

New York Fashion Week is my favorite fashion event of the year because we get all dressed up, stroll the streets on NYC and take in all of the fashion from the runways. The biggest dilemma I often have is packing, or over packing rather. I never want to leave any of my favorite pieces behind which usually results in overweight baggage fees. But this season, I decided to do things differently. Sure you don't want to get caught wearing the same outfit twice but accessories can be reworked to go with many different looks and they happen to be the major culprit when it comes to weighed down suitcases.

For Day 3 of New York Fashion Week I partnered with Call It Spring to style their gold choker, navy blue carryall, and printed pumps two ways. For my daytime look, I paired my accessories with a sleek off the shoulder trench dress. This look was perfect for strolling the streets of NYC and visiting showrooms. For my evening look I wanted something that was bit more high fashion to wear to the runway shows, so I paired a red ruffled crop top with high waisted striped pants and added in my Call It Spring printed pumps. Do you ever re-work your accessories to save space when traveling?

Thanks so much for visiting me!
Xoxo -E

LA in NYC

In Collaboration with Macy's x Who What Wear

"Sometimes we don't realize how much our surroundings influence us. We subconsciously make choices based on what we're exposed to and we develop our taste and personal style based on our environment. Living in Los Angeles has made me appreciate fashion that is colorful, ladylike and sophisticated. I love to juxtapose different styles to create an outfit that is visually interesting and unique. In today's look, I paired a snake print INC International Concepts trench with a burgundy tunic and a matching burgundy statement necklace. Comfortable dresses are always a go-to for me and styles with elegant details like buttons and lace are even more appealing. This look could easily be dressed down with tights and black booties, but I decided to keep things polished by adding sleek pointed toed pumps and a suede crossbody bag -- perfect for a day of meetings in Manhattan. Even when I travel, my LA style shines through. And, who says you can't bring a little bit of LA color to The big apple?"

Thanks so much for reading.

Elegant with purpose

Dec. 2015

Ms. Keene, I can always point to you as elegant, for an example of a woman playing with the elements that make simple moments with clothes works of loving attention to the details of style within fashion. It helps that you enjoy being feminine, and that colors either come from within you, or they are placed upon you as clothes. It is hard to tell sometimes so keen is the brilliant way your photographer Jonny Villanueva does his art. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories (12.12.15)

New York and Parisian women

Camille Rowe is wearing the Madewell et Sézane® Paris Mon Amour Tee.

New York and Paris Style: What’s the Difference? Camille Rowe Shares Her Take

No one understands the style nuances of a city quite like a native, so who better to bring our Madewell et Sézane collaboration—inspired by New York and Paris—to life than Camille Rowe, a French-born model and something of a dual citizen of both places?

Camille’s been splitting time between the two cities for seven years now and, impressively, can distinguish a New Yorker from a Parisian with just a quick glance. In between wardrobe changes on set, Camille answered a few fill-in-the-blank questions to explain the differences between the two cities. Or, put another way, here’s how to look like a local whichever side of the pond you’re on.

You can always recognize a New York woman by…The green juice in her hand. And her big sunglasses.

You can always recognize a Parisian woman by…Her bedhead.

New York girls learn about style from…Magazines, like Teen Vogue.

Parisian girls learn about style from…People they admire. In my case, it was my dad. He taught me to appreciate vintage clothing, good classic denim and boots.

Every New York woman has…Sneakers for everyday life and a great big coat for parties.
Every Parisian woman has…Simple cotton underwear, and red lipstick for fancy nights out.
In New York, women dress for…Other women.
In Paris, women dress for…Men.
New York has taught me to…Wear Birkenstocks and take more style risks.
In Paris, I’d never wear…Sneakers. It’s such a New York thing, like working out. It’s almost taboo in Paris.

A song that captures the spirit of New York style is…“She Belongs to Me,” by Bob Dylan.
A song that captures the spirit of Parisian style is…“Il Est Cinq Heure Paris S’éveille,” by Jacques Dutronc.
One thing I love to wear in both Paris and New York are…My Madewell denim shorts—high rise, real denim, no stretch.

Fierce Glamour Blog

Honey, you might wanna change those pants….

I’m a partial homebody!  As much as I love to dress up, the second I get home, the fanciness comes off.  T-shirts and yoga pants are all I’m worried about.  This is good and bad, since it usually means I don’t want to change if I have to run and get something.  And this was my problem the other evening… After getting home from work, I realized that I needed to go pick up a few supplies for a project at the local Hobby Lobby.  I was already changed into “comfy clothes” and seriously debated not changing.  Sometimes its just not worth it.  But I threw on a pair of jeans, cute flats and left.  Boy, I was glad I did.

Always, always, always, I run into someone I know.  This time it was my BF’s roommate, his girlfriend and his other friend who I hadn't seen in a long time.  We spoke and as I walked off, I was thankful I changed and looked more put together!  When I wear comfy clothes, I manage to see people that I want to make an impression on and don’t, ex-boyfriends, long lost friends, old teachers, etc…

Its not like I care what these people say about me when I walk away, its how I feel about myself when I walk away.  I’d rather not feel bad about myself but think, “It was good to see ..”    It would be nice if someone could tell me “You might wanna rethink those pants, shirt or whatever before you walk out that door!” I’m not saying that you have to always  be dressed to the nines.  But you might wanna think about who you might run into and how you’ll feel before you run out the door wearing that hole-y t-shirt and worn out pants…….

I know I will. 11.7.09
