Mereana Taki teachings: Social work #2

There is a chronic imbalance which is not resolved in the illusion of 'helping' Professions. I am a living Survivor of these systems and a Teacher in this field. It is a Tribalz responsibility given to me by Elders to co create positive transformation in the areas which touch our Children with abject terror ...in the name of 'helping' which in the end is a circle of employment in a climate of absentee accountability to Whanau, Hapu and Iwi.

It is the Mind which is enslaved and the Heart disconnected which cannot be trained into anything. Already we are at a crossroads. Generational removal of our Kin into Stranger homes only to be reabused is not acceptable either.

Just as the abuse of Great Mother appears to go on unaltered by the great movements and protests and attempts to stem the tide, at home here ...we do not simply stand aside and watch our Children being re abused, our Civilization raized to the ground in the name of Colonizing Social Work.

This is not a denial that internalised oppressions and dominations have not landed in the arena of Whanau, hapu and Iwi Tribalz realities. On the contrary. It is acknowledgement and recognition that WE ...as Tribalz ...are not only capable, but willing to remove all of our Children from institutional enslavement so that this is not the 'Tradition' which displaces our Ancients and Ancestors as our 'cultural legacies'. For others it is a 'too hard basket'. All we say is; we don't need outsider approval to know what we know and to act on it. Return of our Kin from alienating Social Work is a commitment to Life ...it is pro Life and against no one. -Mereana Taki
