Be Still & know

Bruce Lee did this in the movie Enter the Dragon. It was the scene where he was underground fighting against incredible odds. In the middle of the swirling bodies four walls suddenly boxed him in. He stood still a moment. He looped his weapon around his neck, sat down and waited for the next moment calm and centered. Within seconds the ceiling opened and the face of his protagonist appeared leering down at him.

It was a scene I played over and over in my head during my lifetimes of experiences between death and life. It became a discipline learnt in violent gun and gang confrontations as a law enforcement officer, a ceremonial hunter deep in the forests tracking packs of feral dogs, and in the constraints of difficult relationships and the hazards of life without a home to go to... - Gregory E.
