the AFRICAN CHRISTIANIZE MAN

Angels All Around Us

A PRACTICE OF FAITH

“What is the purpose of proving there is a God? Is it important to proof to someone which God is more important to believe in, or is there a need to assert dominance in the spirit of being right, or possessive of an ideological stance? Being an African Creek Indian presented challenges to the claims of my Sunday School teachers because the language of a conqueror sounds one way to a conquered people and another way to the conqueror, and his descendants  The Gospel has the same sounds in its languages as it is given, has been given to Africans, and Native Americans. Those ancestor's memories swirl from the Earth where they lay, and the weird queries, and bewildered expressions expressed while fingering their bloody wounds linger in the air, the land Christians insist on not seeing as sacred.

It takes a lot of thought to be a Christian with your ancestors asking you the questions they asked themselves.” – Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 1.19.13
