A STORY
The measurements. Ah, the measurements. Americans are fond of talking about how marriage is 50/50 and all that nonsense. The insistence upon controlling what needs to flow is ridiculous folly, but it (the practice of measuring the immeasurable) is an indication of what ails a culture that cannot sustain the fundamental institution that holds a society together: marriage. I am very familiar with the practice of measuring intangibles with the pretense of certainty, and how it (the practice) is flaunted as an achievement. It could be added to the list of vanities King Solomon wrote about. If anything is be measured there is the consistent fact that 50% of marriages in the US survive. Beyond that many prefer not to venture so measuring within marriage is emptiness. - Gregory E. Woods 8.10.13
