The reality star, Michaele Salahi married guitarist, Neal Schon in the first ever pay-for-view broadcast of a wedding. They titled it, and sold the idea and got off on a fantastic first step into a marriage I hope is successful. |
I thought Michaele Salahi's first marriage was a fantastic journey with its pomp and interesting circumstances until the image they had crumble into its reality, and became unbearable for Michaele and she ran off with the former guitarist of early Santana. She went from one marriage that held a captive audience glued to its seats with their famous parties and high lifestyle and showcase life on a reality TV show, Real Housewives of DC, to a themed marriage televised for consumption in San Francisco.
Now this is the business side of their wedding. For the first time in its history the Palace of Fine Arts hosted a wedding. Their wedding was filmed by 10 cameras in the venue's historic Rotunda, and will be on sale up until February 28, 2014. Once purchased the show can be watched up to 12 hours for $14.95 via-video-on-demand, and viewed only once. A portion of the profits are going to typhoon relief in the Philippines.
The 350 guests who filled the Rotunda for the wedding could look around at the wonderful magic the couple and the celebrity marriage planner, Sharon Sacks, created. The white tent had 38 crystal chandeliers. Glowing white Christmas trees surrounded the stunning white dance floor and later simulated snow fell around the couple's first dance to the song, "When I Fall In Love". 19 rectangular wooden tables accented with silver finish and a lavish floral arrangement of French tulips, peonies hydrangeas, roses and silver accents with many candles. The 20th table was the sweetheart table and it was breathtaking!
Her father was unable to escort her down the aisle because he was dead. But, her two brothers had the honor of escorting their sister who wore an Oscar de la Renta wedding gown carrying a bouquet of white peonies and roses accented with ribbon followed by flower girls who wore pomanders and head wreaths made of white roses. There were 25 groomsmen, and an equal number of bridesmaids. Heading the ceremony was Oprah Winfrey's favorite pastor, Michael Beckwith.
The reception had to be felt. The bride changed into Monique Lhuillier gown as the evening continued with their first dance and the cutting of their 4 foot tall white cake with layers of berry and custard fillings designed by Sam Godfrey from Perfect Endings! The performance of Journey (her husband's band) playing "Stay A While" "When You Love A Woman" "Faithfully" and "Don't Stop Believing". The highlight of the reception was soul singer, Brian McKnight! By night's end the bride was wearing a Dior gown.
I wasn't invited to the wedding, but had I been I would've been talking about the conversations with the guest some of whom were famous people like Omaroso Manigault and Grateful Dead's Bob Weir whom I would have loved to engage in conversation. When not dancing with my wife and laughing and mingling I would have been enjoying the signature drink, an eggnog with Sammy Hagar's Rum called Touch of Cheer! Michaele's favorite drink is hot chocolate, which is one of my favorite evening drinks with a movie, and favorite early morning drinks with a cigar. My wife would have been sending me to the espresso bar to refill her little plate with toffee candy bar crumbles, peppermint sticks, caramel squares and whipped cream for the hot chocolate.
We would have sincerly wished, no given them a blessing. We are old enough, and have learned enough to do such a thing. ~ Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 12.17.13
