EIGHT SIGHTS

Powers beyond within.

Breathless leaves the open legs, the balance it takes to hold this asana of the man, who can be a balance to who she holds within. These powers speak beyond the obvious coming from beyond the initial urge, and the typical response seeing a woman seated thus. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories

Second Sight

Looking up to a woman a man loves isn't submission; it is submission of the loyalty to paradigms old and unable to work in the context of balanced relationships between the two primary elements holding Life in its myriad of forms. It is a source of power to look up at the energies stronger than ours. Even stronger is the potential of merging with those powers of the She with He. Not knowing these basics taps away at the nuances we sense until ignorance is no longer bliss, but refuge from the responsibilities of spiritual knowledge and awareness.

Looking up to Princess Mimi Baby.

Third Sight

The Phoenix. She has a mystical place in the consciousness of humanity in various forms. How the Phoenix settles into the consciousness of each culture and each generation in different ways, through different incarnations, and people, and incidents is determined in the secrecy of intent and the trajectory of the force of words spoken. In the lexicon of the crude the Phoenix has settled to be sexual arousals. That is a low point of awareness. With no sign of evolving how will the Phoenix show up?

The Phoenix. She has a mystical place in the consciousness of humanity in various forms. How the Phoenix settles into the consciousness of Black Americans, in particular, is not far different from the rest of American society. Based in crudeness what hope has the Phoenix embodied within the Ghetto mentality? If the Phoenix is still as potent in times and eras passed she will resurface in powers Black women have forgotten they have within their wombs!

Fourth sight

"Child's pose is basic in Yoga. Turned into sexual arousal where does it lead that leads to enlightenment?"

Fifth sight

The beauty of being held and holding within are parallel experiences related to balance and touch. What isn't understood is that the postures our lives give us speak from both places.

Asana posed on a chair.

Sixth sight

Rick White asked, "When you got 3 baby mammas 2 felonies, no car, no job and tear drop tattoos."

What you have is a challenge and crisis. What are you going to change? Who are and where will you find yourself after this admission? Will you remain outside of yourself, or cling to an identity that sounds like: you got 3 baby mammas, 2 felonies, no car, no job and tear drop tattoos.

What you've got is bodies, lack of courage to become self-employed, and an unwillingness to learn how money works, and you have the challenge to learn how to be a man, to be a father. Being a felon means, according to the The United States Constitution, you are a slave. So, how will you get your freedom? This is what Harriet Tubman asked each person who wanted to travel north to freedom from slavery, from cruel, self-serving white men. What will you do; what questions will you answer with the warrior spirit your life has shown?

These are my gifts to you. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories

"Peace and tranquility can be contained and released. Asanas hold this challenge without judging a soul. "- Gregory E. Woods (Dawn Wolf), Keeper of Stories 6/05/17

Eighth sight

Poetry of form in colors a Black woman wears is an essence other women cannot imitate, have, or own. What other women should take away from the experience of being in awe of African women is to be themselves. Creator gave a gift to unravel. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories

What Eyes See Spirit Knows.

"Black powerful woman emerging from the birthing waters ..."

"The mysteries are endless in their expressions and ability to excite and incite change, radical change in thought, development and reaction to natural events, and awakenings. It is something to recognize as Mystery arouses the sense of being into who we are by many means necessary to become sacred.

A lot of awakening within men is aroused by women. Not knowing this both men and women make mistakes governing their thought process confusing sensation for honoring, and not recognizing the ability of sexual energies to transform not only a mood, but to unfold the capacity to enlighten by sexual intercourse the pathway to God, and his secret away from religion: the Goddess!" - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 5.12.16

Mexican woman in form of 8.

The form of 8 is a sacred form, symbol and number.

In the sacred language of Hebrew lexicon 8 is Hhayt. Hhayt is the sphere of storage of all undifferentiated energy or unstructured substance. It expresses the most unevolved state of energy, as opposed to its achieved freedom in Zayn (7), which is the achievement of every vital impregnation: this number opens the field of every possible possibility.

It is also the figure walked between the two split halves of a slain animal sacrificed in their ancient covenant ceremony between two men. To add to the mystery of numbers this number is ascribed to the Jesus as an infinite source of and from Creation; hence Creator, and Lord of Lords, etc. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 5.12.16

figure 8 into the equation(s)

body art of Maya van de Wiel

8 is a number. It is a symbol. 8 is a pharmaceutical of formulas in the realms of power healers and Rabbis draw from and into in their work for others. As a sacred number it the symbol of infinity and it has been the symbol walked between the animals sacrificed and cut in twain during the covenant ceremony between two men in the ancient Hebrew ritual. 8 is also the number of Jesus. This is resurrection. This number brings the dance of life-death-resurrection to paper, to voice of power to rituals and joy to ceremony.

The Hebrew letters are forms of Life, of Creation. Without further explanation the number 8 in the Hebrew language is Hhayt. "8 is the sphere of storage of all undifferentiated energy, or unstructured substance. It expresses the most unevolved state of energy, as opposed to its achieved freedom in Zayn (7)." This is how Carlo Suares describes it in his life study of Qabala in his book: The Cipher of Genesis (p. 63).

Also, the typical Goddess form of a woman has always at some point in many women's lives captured her essence in the shape of the number 8! A woman's body type with this figure arouses man's manhood in deep ways often beyond the ability to explain why and how! In the body of a woman the possibility of enlightenment, of empowerment and penetration into the realms of masculinity guided by the feminine principles of the Womb are boundless!

Behind Every Woman is a Symbol.

African beauty with a touch, a flair of the Orient.

"Morse Peckham. I need to thank him for translating what is difficult to translate: essence."

Art is rehearsal for those real situations in which it is vital for our survival to endure cognitive tension, to refuse the comforts of validation by affective congruence when such validation is inappropriate because too vital interests are at stake….Art is the exposure to the tensions and problems of a false world so that man may endure exposing himself to the tensions and problems of the real world. - Morse Peckham

"It took me awhile to relax my mind to digest, but I got this. This is the reason so much unnecessary clutter has become part of so many young people. Art was removed from their learning processes!"

"Since artistic style shows a higher rate of change than any other mode of human behavior, decision-making is most easily observable in art; and further, since art is irresponsible, since neither artistic production nor artistic perception demands manipulation of the environment to one's own benefit, or requires adaptation to the nonartistic environment, it is the perfect instrument for the exploration of the character and strategies of decision-making. Hence it is also the perfect medium for experimentation in decision-making, since, as the Stylists themselves were the first to realize, the specific intellectual and moral content of art ... is a matter of indifference, at least if one is alienated and seeking strategies for self-transformation and self-transcendence. Hence, also, it is an area of behavior in which it is least dangerous to apply the maximum pressure upon oneself. Even philosophy does not offer the opportunities for irresponsibility that art does."

AGAPE, SLAVERY & INTELLIGENCE

Cletona Williams-AlstonAgape
Sept. 26, 2013
"Dear God, the poster read, ""I remember how my life used to be before I met You. Thank you for finding me!"

ONE

This poster stops me from walking away from it. I don't have that sense of being found by God. It was a matter of where my focus was that earmarked the troubled times of my life, but it didn't render void the presence of the Creator. I always had the sense of that presence.

I walked a lot in my dark times, and spent a great deal of time alone and deep in forests. I guess those two factors were or are states of being far removed from being in a city where it is easy to feel disconnected from the vital energies of life in a culture that is compelled to explain God. But, one's state of conscious awareness is his/her story, and many people have to invent a science to perceive the Creator. Perception is a source of fascination and a study of human nature if one is interested in how to understand others. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 9.28.13

TWO

"The way to feel good is to do good. The way to feel successful is to take the actions that bring about success. You cannot truly feel what you do not being truly alive. Be honest and authentic with yourself, with others, and with Life because anything less is just cheating yourself. Spend this day being a unique and enthusiastic expression of life’s goodness. See how much of a positive difference you can make, and experience what a genuine, positive feeling you get from doing so. Seek to add richness to the lives of others and be delighted at how much richness it brings into your own life. Do something good and useful just because it is the right thing to do, and discover how right it feels. Let go of the tiresome fight to gain advantage, and direct your energy toward appreciating and creating goodness. Move beyond the need to prove yourself and focus instead on improving all of life. Give more and more of your own unique goodness to those around you, to the world, and to Life. And feel the outstanding richness as it grows increasingly abundant for you." - Adekola Kevin Odukoya 9.24.13

THREE

Rose Marie Samuels, I know and agree that "True peace is not the absence of war; it is the presence of God."

I would venture further and add that the presence of God is cloak-like because that presence is a constant the way air is constant and breath is consistent with the vibrations of the living. Well, peace is the presence of an awareness within of how the outside presence of Creation and the Creator lives within and through the consistencies and the inconsistencies of our lives. It is a weave. It is the way the land, the Earth, our Mother vibrates within us. It is the way the words of our mouth mingle with vital energies of Creation. It is a creative process. It is a dance. It is Spider Woman. It is the weaving motion of a web connecting all parts of Creation within the soul of the body we live in. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 9.28.13

FOUR

"If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." Psalms 66:18

How true is that, or is it a misunderstanding of Hebrew? How could the Creator not hear his creation moaning under the weight of their wrong doings? If the ear of the Creator is dead to the 'bad heart' of someone there is no redemption. - Dawn Wolf, Keeper of Stories 9.28.13

FIVE

"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, ..." 1 Timothy 2:1-5

SIX

The direction found in Hebrews 13:17 "Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you..." has spoken to contradicted lives, and been the bane of existence for countless souls over the centuries. To this day it has been a manipulative tool in the hands of craftspeople skilled in selling war to the nation.

Easy it is to manipulate people's thinking and loyalties. It is easier when a person is not prone to study, or inclined towards introspective spirituality that challenges the notion of dominance and spreads out the tenets of one's faith on a white sheet of conscious awareness to 'see' what they actually believe, and is believable. This is the point in the craft of developing one's spirituality that stops many people from moving from belief to knowing.

During slavery times in the Americas this scripture subjugated millions of Africans forced into the Christian faith, and the millions of whites who benefited from slavery suffered as well. It did not work on people's indigenous to this land (Turtle Island) because Native peoples were connected to the land in all the ways the Euro-American was not connected within himself. Indians ran away and fought for the land where their ancestor's bones lay. Slavery and the legacy of the institution, and Western Christianity plays different roles in the mindset and the thinking of the grandchildren of ex-slaves and the generations of white Christians and non-Christians alike who benefit and suffer from slavery and its legacy.

Today's challenge is ethics and integrity. Many people in the work place wrestle with the implications of this scripture as it is applied to keeping their jobs, or doing things that will insure employment, but violates the tenets of their faith. Many a Christian in management has agonized around a company's tendencies to manipulate lives, and made decisions they justified by Hebrew 13:17 they knew to be wrong. In the judicial system and in the military industrial complex ethical conflicts many a Christian lay person wrestles with are between the crude nature of survival, and being a living testament of Jesus Christ. None of these challenges are easy, but leaving one's life to chance isn't either. - Gregory E. Woods, 9.28.13

SEVEN

There is an innocence about subjugating to authority that works for a child, and is cute. But, as adults we have spiritual responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is to train and raise children. If subjugating their spirits, and limiting their freedom of spirit to teach them how to be powerless, and submissive to abusive leadership is a religious obligation that is foul. It is evil, and for a child terrifying transitioning from the magic they were born with into a victim, a subject of tyranny, if that is the government with authority over their lives.

Children come into the world with two things: innocence and the knowledge of who they are. This is their Sacred Dream. It is what many are taught to forget, or under value into extinction. That loss of self eventually can turn into soul loss and is the primary reason foreign nations are sending missionaries to work in the United States.

As Americans we live in enormous contradictions, and pulled away from our stances, and proclamations to the world as a global power it is clear what ails us. On another hand the experiences of Europeans stomping upon the 'New World' and killing millions of its inhabitants over the last few centuries has destroyed the promise of new life their God said would come their way should they follow his law. On the other side is the matter of subjugation which in the American lexicon is slavery, or bondage.

It is said that to understand freedom one needs to understand its denials. I don't know who told me that in my younger years, but that becomes an unexplored subject if Hebrews 13:17 is taken literally, or ignorantly.

- Gregory E. Woods 9.28.13

EIGHT

My litmus test to authority is not in my submission to authority because it is over me. My obedience is not blind. I respect and listen closely to the power of my relationship with my own death, the power of my Medicine, what the Creator has imbued me with, and what I know about how power(s) move and shift. My tribal lineage does not have the energy of the lamb. My power animal (and we are all born with one) is not weak. The lamb was foreign to the concept of adulthood and manhood of my People, and deep within my nature I am incapable and unwilling to shape shift my life force into the energy lines of the sheep. It is a fundamental condition, or state of being I was born with and into!

I wrestled against the notion of accepting the symbol of the lamb into me when I was a young man. With my parents as the backdrop of my intellectual and spiritual development it was a ludicrous notion and failed. The text of masculinity and femininity with a lamb's nature does not coincide with the wisdom of being a dominant force of Nature, a parent, a man in the deepest sense of the word, or a warrior. It is not how families are formed or held together. It is a survival skill under monarchies, and for a slave, but a free man? It most certainly was not part of the makeup of Jesus, or any of the patriarchs, or the judges of the ancient Hebrew people. Why, as a man, should I submit to the lamb as a model, teach it to my children, and blindly submit to a governing force that does not have the interests of the People in their heart?

We all saw how that worked out for us as a nation a few of days after 9/11 as our Congress forsook reasonable and intellectual discourse and submitted to the authority of a President, who a few days prior,  was subjected to severe ridicule because of his lack of intellectual, and diplomatic sophistication, and his profound naivety, and his open disdain of the acquisition of knowledge for knowledge's sake. Many Christians justified it with the submissive scripture of Hebrews 13:17 in mind. - Gregory E. Woods

BLOOD MEMORIES

absolute beauty of a Mashpee Wampanoag woman - Cheryl

Great strides have been made to liberate Western women from the shackles of historical tyrannies administered by church and state. Some things were lost over the centuries of Western domination, and thought. In the wake of so much upheaval of European, and American social structures the divinity and the sacredness of womanhood, motherhood, the breasts, and the sanctity of the womb; of the punany were barely regarded in the political forays into the intellectual and emotional drama of changing the lives and conditions of Western women for the better! In that mix white Americans, for example, have all but forgotten the importance of the Black African slave mothers who raised generations of white boys and girls during slavery, and the Black mothers employed during long period of neo-slavery from the aftermath of the Civil War through the dawn of World War II.

When Moses was found by the Pharaoh's daughter, and his mother came out of the reeds and offered to be the handmaiden she deepened, and raised the level of sacrifice, and emphasis, and power of blood covenant far beyond the sacrifices, and the meaning of covenants laid by men in her time, and of her culture. In her time the Hebrew men laid covenants between one another. There were seven (7) steps to that ritual.

Standing before each other in front of witnesses each man takes off his coat. The gesture says, "this (coat) represents me. I am giving you me. We possess each other". Next they take off their belts. The belts represents one's strength. It is the symbol of a man's strength. This is where the weapons are worn. The third step is central to the ceremony and the point I want to make. An animal is sacrificed and split in two."The halves are split amongst us and put behind us".  The two men walk through the mounds of blood, and flesh making a figure 8 (the symbol of infinity) until they are standing face to face in the center of blood. They are inside death prepared.

What supports and builds community and relationships better: the letting or the giving of blood? The Hebrew covenant ceremony was between men. It was inclusive. Each man's family and generations were included in the ceremony. Vows were made when each man slashed their wrists or palms, placed their wrists in the air and locked them together. In their vow they are beginning to enter Blood Covenant prepared to die as the animals had died.

"My life is yours. If we break this covenant Let God do this to me!" they said looking at the dead flesh surrounding them

The scars say, "I have made a covenant for life and it is a responsibility. What talents I do not have I now have through this new relationship." The witnesses hear all the terms of the covenant, and a memorial is built to the covenant. In the end a loaf of bread is broken and shared between the friends saying to each other, "This is me into you. We are one flesh of each other's flesh." A cup of wine is shared that tells the two and the witnesses present; "This is my blood. It has become yours as you drink. We are together. We are blood-relatives for life."

I purposely severely limited the number of wombs I entered. One of the reasons was a logical one. There is a distinction between intimacy and sexual intercourse, and the two I envisioned as a teenager, but at 13 years of age it was taught to me quite clearly: make it now. I made the choice thus embarking upon a journey of such magnificence and magnitude! Women's Moontime opens them up to the energies of the Moon, Water, and Earth Mother. What that feels like, as a woman, I know not.

QUESTIONS TO LIFE TO PROBE

Paula Patton was voted eighth most beautiful woman of 2012 by People magazine.

Paula Patton was voted eighth most beautiful woman of 2012 by People magazine. How many people quickly adjust their views to correspond with this assessment? How quickly do many of us find a way to be in alignment with popular opinion? Who in the deep recesses of their mind work hard to be seen as keenly up to date with the latest trends as if it is their natural state of being? How many and who admit to themselves, or deny their opinions are televised, or in print as gossip and trivia passing for real news? These questions cover and give broad insight into some of the predicament behind and beneath the questions that face our national conscience. Many laws are in place that do not service the needs of the people in this nation because many resided in front of televisions. Today it is the cell phone, and personal computer.

Network news is a construction project regulating views and public opinion with the skill of a wrangler. Need we know more? Yes, of course we do. Do we need to ask the right questions of ourselves? Are we responsible for each other? Do our words, and lives live on after we die? If so, what value do we bring to the circles of other peoples' living experiences? Does Paula Patton have some of the prettiest legs on God's green and brown earth to go along with her iridescent life-force? Yes. She does.

What? What does that question about the actress have to do with anything I've raised? What connects with her beauty or her essence to the political and ethical and spiritual landscape in dire need of reform? Think about it. What natural forces are consciously and unconsciously left out of the thinking and planning of policy in country after country? What force do we come from that helps hold the world together is excluded from serious consideration about life on this planet? Think about it and think hard!

CIVIL RIGHTS: a child's view

March on Washington. My father was there. - Gregory E. Woods

Verna Lambert

Soledad O'Brien,

"I am a '60's baby and native Washingtonian. I remember the Poor Peoples March and protest, where tents sat in puddles of mud and rain. I also remember the March on Washington and the day MLK was shot. While I was only 8 and naive  I remember very vividly my mother rushing into to Shiloh Bapitist Church to pick me up from nursery school and the National Guards rolling tankers down the street to patrol order on U Street in the Shaw District, while fire and smoke was everywhere. There was always protest and marches on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, and the reflection pool. I have so many fond memories of Civil Rights era in the Nations Capital.. Thank for your many gifts of journalism...." - 2.10.11

Just saw the preview which illustrated some aspects of Dr. Ernest Withers - though it emphasized his photography more - and less his incredible photographic memory, his astute understanding (political, economic, social justice, etc.) and memory of every situation he encountered and photographed. Hope too that the full special will discuss all of Dr. Wither's children - not just a few. His commitment to all of his children was significant.

understanding the Bodhicaryavatara - chap 8

meditating woman with pyramid floating from Aisha

Chapter Eight - Meditation

The next chapter is on Meditation or Meditative Concentration. In order to develop Wisdom, we need to have a stable mind. Therefore, we need to develop Meditation. Once an individual's mind is not controlled or is distracted, then that person is always in the risk of defilement, just like a person caught between the jaws of a crocodile. If our mind is distracted, then negative thoughts will come. We may follow the negative thoughts and do negative actions, and go towards the wrong direction and path. So, all our accumulation of merits can vanish or be destroyed. Therefore, if we don't have a stable mind, we are always at the risk of being attacked by defilements.

In order to subdue or pacify all these negative thoughts and negative actions, physically, we try to abandon all kinds of unnecessary actions. Mentally, we try to avoid unnecessary planning and unnecessary thinking of the future and past. Try to avoid the distractions caused by the body and the distractions caused by the mind.
The main obstacle of meditation Is attachment. Meditators try to subdue their attachment. Within one's capacity, one will try to subdue or reduce as much as one can. Only then will one be more successful when one tries to meditate.

The next is on meditation subjects. According to most Mahayana Sutras or teachings, they advise us to meditate on subduing one's own defilements first. Whatever defilement we have more aggressively, we put an antidote to subdue that defilement first.

If a person has more hatred, he should put every means of practice to develop loving kindness and compassion. That is the antidote of hatred.

If a person has more desire, then practise meditation on the imperfection of samsara and imperfection of the subject of the desire. In that way, one will be able to understand the nature of it and one able to reduce that particular defilement.

If a person has more Ignorance, contemplate on the twelve interdependent links, i.e. every suffering, every samsara experience is caused by ignorance. That ignorance, the confused mind, produces all the kinds of links. Therefore, try to reverse it.

If we try not to be confused, if we try to cut off this ignorance, then we will be able to cut off the rest of the confusions, the rest of the links. If we have more confusions or ignorance, then we should contemplate more on the twelve interdependent links.

Any kind of Samantha meditation is also applicable at this stage. Any method of Samantha meditation can also be practised.

symbol of infinity

HEBREW COVENANT ceremony is ancient. It is old and timeless in its importance. There are many stories in the world holding both the world, and worlds together. In this telling I want you, the reader, to be satisfied knowing the people of the Hebrew tribe were as dark as the other nationalities in the Bible with the exception of the only two white nations: the Romans and the Greeks. This settles the controversy of image so important, and fundamental to the spiritual development of anyone professing Judaism, Christianity as their faith.

There is a covenant ceremony, ancient of days, King Saul's son Jonathan, and later to be king David performed together. It isn't understood by Western Christians the depth of the ceremony. All it entailed is not apparent to the average reader, but to initiates the slight references in the story is enough said to connect them to the significance and powers of covenant. Covenants made include all children, born and unborn. The Hebrew tribe believed the children were in the father's loins. Those children remain in the covenant until the age of understanding and choice. They decide, then, whether to keep it or not. God taught man from the beginning to cut blood covenant. (Hebrews 10:15-22)

There are seven (7) steps to the Hebrew covenant ceremony, and four (4) important things to be brought to the sacred space: one's weapons, an animal, bread, and wine. Blood covenant is between two (2) people who bind themselves to the other before God, and witnesses.

Facing each other they take their coats off saying, "This represents me. I am giving you me. We possess each other." The belts come off each saying to the other, "This represents my strength. The belt is where my weapons are worn. Here is my strength." Next an animal is brought into the middle of the sacred space killed and split in two (2), The halves are split amongst the two (2) men and put behind them. The men walk a figure eight (8) through the mounds of blood until they come to the center and stand face to face inside death prepared. Together they say, "We are beginning to enter Blood Covenant prepared to die as this animal. My life is yours. If we break this covenant," pointing to the dead animal, "Let God do this to me!

Now we are ready to cut ourselves. We take knives and slash our wrists (or palms) placing our wrists in the air and locking them together swear to the other that this is a life covenant. Now we are blood brothers. We are flesh and our names change and intermingle like our blood!

God bless You from blood covenant; if it kills me I will bless you."

The fourth (4) step is the scar made from the cut. The scar says, "I have made a covenant for life and it is a responsibility. What talents I do not have I now have through this new relationship."

The fifth (5) step involves the witnesses hearing the terms of the covenant. In asking of the other the two (2) men say, "May God watch between you and me." as they build a memorial to the covenant as they see fit. This is the sixth (6) step. The seventh (7) and final step centers around the meal. A loaf of bread is broken and fed to the friend. The act says, "This is me into you. We are one flesh of each others flesh." A cup of wine is shared. The wine says to one and all: "This is my blood. It has become yours as you drink. We are together. We are blood-relatives for life."
