Painting what WE Know.

To trust ourselves is an art. We are unsure after so many breakups with our beliefs. To trust oneself is a difficult love affair. Religion, society, politics have broken our hearts. Burned by our beliefs, we are exhausted. But our knowing has never died. Ask yourself right now: "Whom do I trust?" "Do I trust myself?" "Do I know things that nobody can prove?" - Durga Holzhauser (Feb 22, 2017)

Durga Holzhauser said,

Holy Insight!

RUMI tells the humorous tale of an untutored boatman and a prideful grammarian. The grammarian asks the boatman if he knows Arabic grammar (a science that facilitates understanding the Qur'an). No? Well then, half your life is wasted! When the boat begins sinking in a whirlpool, the boatman asks if the grammarian knows how to swim. No? Then your whole life is wasted! (Masnavi 1: 2835-40)

Tao Te Ching

The oldest and major source to Taoism is Tao Te Ching (also spelled Dao De Jing), which translates to The Book on the Way and Virtue. It was written by the legendary Lao Tzu (Lao Zi) somewhere between the 6th and the 4th century BC in China. The old classic still has a lot to teach us.

Tao Te Ching consists of 81 chapters about the Way: its mystery, its cosmology, and what it teaches us about how to conduct our lives the wisest.

The Sayings of Lao Tzu in the Tao Te Ching

Here are 388 quotes extracted from the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu, the oldest and most important source to Taoism. The Tao quotes are sorted into 19 major topics. Each quote has a link to its chapter in the book.

MEN: what they say about you!

Abby Parece's beauty.

"From the underneath of your chin to valley of your breasts, I would kiss thee! I never stop dreaming of the best way to hold you, all of your positions are breath taking and for each one, I wish I was there to hold, touch, support and please you beyond anything experienced before! To you my dream weaver!" ~ William B. Johnson [Feb. 23, 2017]

the 53%! Who dey is?

Michael Scipio is a very thoughtful man I respect for his short introspective pieces spanning the great contradictions of American life. He is skilled at asking the right questions. This day, as a challenge to thought he asked questions against a photograph of white women and their men, who were Klansmen at a rally. He wrote:

"Exhibit umpteen hundred: We all experience social learning, but questions remain. Are these women being oppressed? Are they being unduly coerced against their will to participate, essentially rendering them victims of white patriarchy? Or do they have adequate agency, the ability to make good rational choices? Are they willing participants in advancing white supremacy? Who are the 53% of white women that voted for Trump? Will you please stand up and tell me how you really feel..."

Those are good questions, I answer, but they give these white women a way out of the equation. They don't get an out because in the 21st century apologizing has become the extend of 'understanding' or 'addressing' complex racial beliefs and the violence, which is the language of white supremacy. You can't remove these white women from either side because the benefits of the military branch of white conquest and domination is the Klan and other similar groups. They protect all white Americans. The new nuances of color politics are of no consideration.

Now the last question: "Who are the 53% of white women that voted for Trump?" That is the only question to weigh. We know the answers to the other ones. Our ancestors and parents taught us of the darker hue everything about white Americans, their practices and beliefs and how to have a chance to excel. If we wanted to simply exist there were always methods. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 10/16/17

A Story from Women

absolutely beautiful red haired woman in 2015.

Absolute is an often misused word to the point that users of the word are void of understanding what absolutes are. To say a woman is absolutely beautiful is to indulge in the mysterious affect of delving into what makes beauty and beautiful accessible to the common mind. The two come from high places and need to be regarded thus.

exotic red head woman's hair braid lends to her mystique.

naked red haired woman playing with emotions.

A man said to a boy who thought he was a man these words:
"The emotions women can play with are ours. Who we are determines the mercy, if need be, the Gods of our creating will show to us, but who men in this predicament preying on women should hope for mercy from are the women they think they have taken advantage of. But, bragging about our prowess as sexual masters is no good. In the hands of a dark woman, meaning dark of intent and skill, the best of men with a pimp's mentality are toys in the estimation of a sorcerer. You see beauty can disguise dark intent and an idiot caught up with his dick is nothing to compare himself with in the larger scheme of his undoing.
It takes wisdom and skill to master one's body of emotions. Unschooled in the ways of magic and self-control most men are, or go through the periods of their lives believing they are the 'shit' in bed with women. In fact, they were played with. The indication is in the sloppiness of technique. I am not speaking of knowing sorcery, but knowing how things work and knowing how to control their spirit with knowledge of the who and the why of their existence. In plain language a man who knows his purpose is not easily tricked into giving up his essence with aplomb. His strength is in his knowledge, not in what he wants to do between any ol' woman's open legs.
Let this be your lesson, your teacher: my words." - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 1.24.15

SEE into LIGHT

Klaudia El-Dursi reflecting light.

"See into the light to see yourself" is done best in stillness. Fast movements for the sake of moving fast, or the fear of not getting something does not invite enlightenment to the soul, or steady the mind. It creates staccato rhythms that show no promise of reviving the elements we need to sooth the edge of merely existing.

WATER RIGHTS MEN FIGHTS

One
Water embraces all of Life...

Water embraces all of Life. White men not understanding this come from within their bowels as if it is their right to regard the waters of their mother's wombs as property! Therein lies the debate. Therein lies the conflict of humankind. This bewilders logic, has always disrespected the sensibilities of indigenous peoples, and in modern times protestors are baffled because they do not understand the white people the way we Natives and Africans have been forced to understand them.

If there is to be salvation for the white people it won't come from Jesus. It will come from the people they enslaved, and those they took from. We know things. We have the ceremonies, the teachings, the rituals of restoration, recapitulation, and know the formulas for retrieving their souls, and our deep shamans and healers know soul sickness when they see it.

'C'est certain , une Déesse'!

C'est vrai! Une Déesse'! But, what does that mean in modern context in the light of what are women's progressive movements? Divinity is not a source of conversation, nor fought for by the majority of Western women. Being sacred is too foreign of a state of being. It is recognized by people's spirit, but the process to become a Sacred Woman is not asked for, needed but not requested under the banner of the Women's Movement.

It is too bad this loss of identity. This loss is a loss because it is women's power I am talking about!

Behind Every Woman is a Symbol.

African beauty with a touch, a flair of the Orient.

"Morse Peckham. I need to thank him for translating what is difficult to translate: essence."

Art is rehearsal for those real situations in which it is vital for our survival to endure cognitive tension, to refuse the comforts of validation by affective congruence when such validation is inappropriate because too vital interests are at stake….Art is the exposure to the tensions and problems of a false world so that man may endure exposing himself to the tensions and problems of the real world. - Morse Peckham

"It took me awhile to relax my mind to digest, but I got this. This is the reason so much unnecessary clutter has become part of so many young people. Art was removed from their learning processes!"

"Since artistic style shows a higher rate of change than any other mode of human behavior, decision-making is most easily observable in art; and further, since art is irresponsible, since neither artistic production nor artistic perception demands manipulation of the environment to one's own benefit, or requires adaptation to the nonartistic environment, it is the perfect instrument for the exploration of the character and strategies of decision-making. Hence it is also the perfect medium for experimentation in decision-making, since, as the Stylists themselves were the first to realize, the specific intellectual and moral content of art ... is a matter of indifference, at least if one is alienated and seeking strategies for self-transformation and self-transcendence. Hence, also, it is an area of behavior in which it is least dangerous to apply the maximum pressure upon oneself. Even philosophy does not offer the opportunities for irresponsibility that art does."

LIVE IN A SACRED W A Y DAILY

Buddhist painting

15 practical steps Thay says we can take to bring mindfulness to our work:

1. Start your day with 10 minutes of sitting in meditation.
2. Take the time to sit down and enjoy eating breakfast at home.
3. Remind yourself every day of your gratitude for being alive and having 24 brand-new hours to live....

4. Try not to divide your time into "my time" and "work." All time can be your own time if you stay in the present moment and keep in touch with what’s happening in your body and mind. There’s no reason why your time at work should be any less pleasant than your time anywhere else.

5. Resist the urge to make calls on your cell phone while on your way to and from work, or on your way to appointments. Allow yourself this time to just be with yourself, with nature and with the world around you.

6. Arrange a breathing area at work where you can go to calm down, stop and have a rest. Take regular breathing breaks to come back to your body and to bring your thoughts back to the present.

7. At lunchtime, eat only your food and not your fears or worries. Don’t eat lunch at your desk. Change environments. Go for a walk.

8. Make a ritual out of drinking your tea. Stop work and look deeply into your tea to see everything that went into making it: the clouds and the rain, the tea plantations and the workers harvesting the tea.

9. Before going to a meeting, visualize someone very peaceful, mindful and skillful being with you. Take refuge in this person to help stay calm and peaceful.

10. If you feel anger or irritation, refrain from saying or doing anything straight away. Come back to your breathing and follow your in- and out-breath until you’ve calmed down.

11. Practice looking at your boss, your superiors, your colleagues or your subordinates as your allies and not as your enemies. Recognize that working collaboratively brings more satisfaction and joy than working alone. Know that the success and happiness of everyone is your own success.

12. Express your gratitude and appreciation to your colleagues regularly for their positive qualities. This will transform the whole work environment, making it much more harmonious and pleasant for everyone.

13. Try to relax and restore yourself before going home so you don’t bring accumulated negative energy or frustration home with you.

14. Take some time to relax and come back to yourself when you get home before starting on household chores. Recognize that multitasking means you’re never fully present for any one thing. Do one thing at a time and give it your full attention.

15. At the end of the day, keep a journal of all the good things that happened in your day. Water your seeds of joy and gratitude regularly so they can grow.

the Mystery has no Clothes on!

naked Black woman arching her back

The naked body is a story. It is a mysterious form of a creature one significant creation story condemned. That condemnation changed the perception of Nature, altered the view and power of a woman's body and her relationship to nakedness changed the birth process for millions upon millions of people living upon the face of the Earth, our Mother! That is a powerful story about Eve and her husband Adam.

There were other tribes of people upon the Earth when the Hebrew's God created the Hebrew people to live their way of life who did not absorb these perceptions from their creation stories!

Today, we still cling to and struggle beneath the weight of the Hebrew creation story. Think not? Watch and listen to your reaction to a naked man or woman captured on film by a photographer. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 10.23.14

DANCER in the LIGHT

dancing behind

The intoxication of LOVE... whirl.... whirl...whirl...............

You bind me, and I tear away in a rage to open out
into air, a round brightness, a candle point,
all reason, all love.

This confusing joy, your doing,
this hangover, your tender thorn.

You turn to look, I turn.
I’m not saying this right.

I am a jailed crazy who ties up spirit-women.
I am Solomon.

What goes comes back. Come back.
We never left each other.

A disbeliever hides disbelief,
but I will say his secret.

More and more awake, getting up at night,
spinning and falling with love for Shams.

Again I am raging,

I am in such a state by your soul that every
bond you bind, I break, by your soul.
I am like heaven, like the moon, like a candle by your glow;
I am all reason, all love, all soul, by your soul.

My joy is of your doing, my hangover of your thorn;
whatever side you turn your face,
I turn mine, by your soul.
I spoke in error;
it is not surprising to speak in error in this state,
for this moment I cannot tell cup from wine, by your soul.
I am that madman in bonds who binds the
‘divs'; I, the madman, am a Solomon with the ‘divs’,
by your soul.

Whatever form other than love raises up its head from my
heart, forthwith I drive it out of the court of my heart,
by your soul.
Come, you who have departed, for the thing that departs
comes back; neither you are that,
by my soul, nor I am that, by your soul.

Disbeliever, do not conceal disbelief in your soul, for I will recite
the secret of your destiny, by your soul.
Out of love of Sham-e Tabrizi,
through wakefulness or nightrising,
like a spinning mote I am distraught, by your soul.

HAPPY????

"There is always a reason to be happy?"

I don't agree.

If you search for it you can find something to be grateful for that in better times would bring joy. But, happy is not necessary in the dark of struggle. It is seeing a way out that small pin points of light, in an otherwise dreary situation, creates the tension that tells the body and soul, "I will survive this..."

our SUN & our MEN

""the sun sets on our ideas of self." ~ dawn wolf, keeper of stories
At times, I wonder if the Western man punished himself for the perceived sins of his ancestors by clouding the skies with acid rains, chemical trails, and other loathsome chemicals, burning coals, the sounds of profanity leaping out, and into the atmosphere billowing upward to choke the light and the image of the sun once worshiped, and studied, and revered mostly, as a spiritual source of insight, wisdom, and knowing??  I wonder if the island of plastic in the Pacific Ocean, and the circling trash around the globe are indicative of the trade made for material wealth in exchange for the soul of the Earth, no longer seen as our Mother?

I wonder about these things as the art of distraction grows sharp edges and renews itself with each denial carelessly tossed out of people's mouths into ears, and the air, and shrugs of shoulders to mimic and show disinterest in outcomes, and distance from the laws and mathematical equations that formulate Creation, prophecy, existence, and the fundamental expectations in the exchanges of death-for-life we subsisted on for thousands of years, and the relationships we  disrespect and have with the multitude of those living with us on this planet!

I wonder how we will be judged by the slight of hand tricks of our ideologies that govern life on this planet that justify heinous actions, and decisions malicious to the cause of the just, and continuation of life through our loins! I think about this things, and I wonder aloud.

"There was this lioness, see. . ."
a story

First of all this episode was on television when it was black & white and there were only three channels, and before we moved to live in Africa.
Daddy, and I were glued to the screen in the living room. Yesterday, a long time ago, people watched TV different than today's viewers. In those days the emotions heavily invested in the moment resounded throughout one's life as a force of change you could chew on as if you'd lived the experience on TV with comparatively more innocence lost in today's extravagances, and subtle urging to hurry on to the next stimulation. Engrossed in excess, lost in the scores of channels the power and simplicity of a moment I am about recount can quickly recede into the background sounds amongst other distractions in the perceptions of today's young viewers. In short, I've noticed the parental screenings of the images entering the mind their children is non-existent, more often than not, and if it is in place it is not as powerful and consistent as it should be in enough children to positively affected sales, or the surrounding community of an average child.

To this day Daddy and I disagree on whether it was a lioness, or a tiger. I remember a lioness. I can see her muscles smooth themselves out with each glide, and how she moved elegantly with each step. She seemed in sync and aware of everything and every movement around her.  Her young were playful as all young things are on the muddy banks running between reeds with no cares. Mother seemed pensive, and brooding until a sudden look quickly entered her eyes, and left her with a decision to hide her young in the reeds with silent, or implied resolve. The cubs were hidden in the reeds (Daddy and I sometimes tell each other the story, and it is bush, not reeds), and the mother went off thoughtfully to hunt.

It wasn't long before the cubs snuck out, tested the air for her absence, and satisfied she was gone started playing again on the muddy shore. It wasn't long before the largest snake in the world lunged out of the water, and grabbed a cub. There was fright and pain, and panic as the snake made its way back into the waters cub in his mouth. On cue, and all of a sudden the mother burst through the bush in righteous rage, as Daddy puts it. Her power was magnificent! Her terrible to behold! She tore into the snake. The little cub got away with his life, and a ferocious battle began.

Initially, the snake's strength and skill matched the mother's. They fought with fury. The body of the snake had not fully come out of the water we remember. Soon the match became a disadvantage for the snake and he, continuing the fight began a subtle retreat into the water. The seconds seemed longer, Daddy and I remember, because the movements of the snake and the lioness were pristine, powerful and terrifying! There was so much power swirling up and around!

When the mother realized the snake was going away she did the unexpected and dove into the water pulling the snake out, and tore into the snake who was trying to wrap around the mother's body. Mother would not give up trying to kill. The snake would not stop trying to wrap around the mother. The mother's roars split the air with magnificence and terror when the snake somehow got back into the water. This time (Daddy used to say it was three times) mother sank her teeth into the neck of the snake with the deepest sort of finality.

Daddy and I would look at each other reliving this moment and acting out her movements try to outdo each other depicting the way the mother slashed the surrounding brush, and reeds emptying her rage for a very long time, it seemed, on the dead snake until satisfied her cubs standing a safe distance away were save, and the snake was dead, and all living things around and within earshot knew to leave her cubs alone did the rage leave her body. This left her with only one thing to do: lick and fuss over her cubs.

Over the years this story has enlivened many a discussion between us, and others. It was, most importantly to us, a great tribute to the righteousness, and the range of a mother's ability to protect her young. We felt it deeply. As a boy the story, and remembering the images I became a teenager whose sense of my right to protect my mother grew. I grew into a man, who sometimes used legendary acts of violence to protect my wives and children against men who were like that snake. The memory of that battle became a part of what was already within Daddy and proven. It became part of what I already was, and developed into something to be respected, and feared by those who needed to be afraid for their lives. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 1.05.14

Philosophy, Sex to Unity

powers between legs of a dark skinned woman - Marlene

mystery just can't express...
You know Ayn Rand? She was a philosopher in class of Aristotle, and she wrote in her book on philosophy that sex is philosophic and only sex is philosophic. The world is not aware about philosophy. I meant to say that it is not the world, but homely couples of the world are not aware of philosophy. On Facebook, I have taken philosophy as my mission to reach it to homely couples; lover or husband and wife.

Just, keep this in mind: Philosophy is a Greek word derived from the root word 'Phallus' and what is referred by the root word 'Phallus? ...Use dictionary, you will get meaning.... Yet, I am writing here the phallus refers to the erected sex organ. So the word philosophy refers to the sex organ in erection. Now come to the word Tantra. It refers to the same object. 'Tan' refers to the body; the sex organ: 'Linga.' What is different? Just the sound of the word chosen, but the meaning, the object is the same. If you use the word Philosophy or Tantra the meaning is Erotic.

"Yes?"

Ayn Rand refers in her book that Sex is philosophic and only sex is philosophic, but how many Western people have grasped it? How many Indian people have grasped that Tantra meant Philosophy!!!

Take this as a first lesson from me: sex is philosophic!  -  Philosophy-The Beauty.

provocative Cherokee

Tantra is not about sex; sex between Men and Women,
but Tantra is about Unity of Men and Women in Sex.

Are you noticing the difference? Sex is between and,
Tantra is not between, but about UNITY IN SEX..

Philosophically Sex is Unity.
Spiritually Sex is erotic for Beauty !

For animal Tantra is impossible,
for human Tantra is Nature...

So, philosophy would say. "Live up to your NATURE!"

Philosophy-The Beauty.
