SPEAKING to his son

French postcard

"Men, women, beer and fast cars at one time was all of existence, all that was important for many. But, age set in alongside goals and the car becomes an antique, beer is measured according to how one makes their money, and if you are fortunate your wife gives you a daughter and you try to keep her from fast cars.

If you have learned anything and unlearned anything you steer your son clear of fast women and modify his behavior around women by the way your transformation honors women's love, and life."

From a Heart of Stone to You.

Lovers in each others trust.

A Heart Of Stone

Once I had a heart of stone
For it had surely lost its home
It could not love or wanted too...

But in my life, then came you.

The stones began to fall away
As happiness began to fill my day
A feeling so sweet and special too
Could this be love, I pray is true.

My heart now sings a song of love
For I know that it was sent from above
My heart is warm, there is no cold
Hard no more, but with wings of gold.

It soars above the sky so high
Sometimes I think of why and cry
My heart now sings a loving song
For the part of me I thought was gone.

The gift that you have given me
Is so important, can't you see
No more sadness or being alone
For now my heart returns to home

an Apache story

Child of Water & Little Blue Rock

Yesterday a long time ago, four monsters lived on the earth. They were horrible monsters. They loved to catch the People and eat them. This did not make them very popular with the People. Whenever the monsters approached, all the People ran away.

One night, a monster stomped up to the wickiup of Child of Water and his mother. Before his mother could stop him, Child of Water challenged the monster to a contest.

"Here are the rules," said Child of Water. He carefully explained that he would be on one side and the monster would be on the other. Both sides would have a chance to shoot four arrows at each other, at the same time. Whichever killed the other first would get all the food. "Do you accept these rules and promise to obey them?" chanted Child of Water, in the way of the people. Child of Water was only a very small boy. But he knew the chant was binding. It was a promise that must be kept.

"I'll play your silly game," laughed the monster. "First I'll shoot you full of arrows. Then I'll eat you, your mother, and all your food!" Just thinking about this satisfying treat had the monster smacking his lips hungrily.

As both fighters took their positions, Child of Water leaned down and picked up a turquoise blue rock. The rock was a gift from the gods, a thing of protection. But Child of Water did not know that. While he was looking at his rock, the monster quickly shot four arrows at Child of Water. This was against the rules, but the monster did not care. Much to his surprise, all the monster's arrows missed Child of Water. Quickly, before the monster could do anything else against the rules, Child of Water shot an arrow at the monster. The arrow pierced the monster's heart and killed him dead. By then, everyone had gathered around. It was obvious that the Devil Dancers were among them. What a noise they made that night rejoicing!

The next day, Child of Water's mother bore a hole in that lucky blue rock. She strung it into a necklace. Ever after, Child of Water wore the blue rock around his neck for love and luck. Over time, Child of Water found many blue rocks. He made a wonderful necklace for his mother, to keep her safe as well.

As time went on, and as Child of Water grew taller, each monster came to challenge him. Each time, wearing his lucky blue rock, each monster's arrows missed Child of Water. But Child of Water's arrows killed each monster, every time, until all the monsters were gone.

As all Apache children know, it is a wise thing to hunt for turquoise blue rocks. If you find one, you too might find yourself some luck. ~ an Apache story

"This is the kind of heart Americans do not have. Conflict without resolution is more the American way. It is why 9/11 has no conclusion. The collective heart is fearful of its own ghost monsters returning in the night and no one in power has the power to clear his heart and resolve the conflicts created for the sake of the people."

Dialogue with a man

"One of the determinate factors of who is a good man, or a good husband is how he develops an insight into patience he didn't have before, studies the questions raised by his wife's actions, and shares how he learned how to wait for his wife, and how he became patient with her over time. A crucial thing to grasp is how she redefines what patience is according to her concept of time and appropriateness.

I watched my father develop this. It took years. The management of frustration is a factor, but it is a necessary art to at least learn her perception. No, it is a skill also, and it must be mastered eventually. Yes, it is a skill, and a compromise. Every young man needs to understand the subtlest things about relationships, and marriage. The best place to learn it is from wise older cats who know this stuff, and learned it the hard way!"

"The hard way?" he looked up and asked.

"You had to ask that. There is no easy way to learn it." - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11.8.13

How Medicine Began

How Medicine Began - Lenape

At first, long ago, men and women lived to be very old. Some were said to have lived two and three hundred years. Our Lenape'wak knew happiness and good health.  Then one day a mysterious sickness came upon our people, and everyone who became sick died. It seemed as if soon no one would be left alive.  Now, one who had died from the sickness was a young boy. As he traveled along Pimikishika'tek, the Path of Souls, he eventually came before Nutemhuma, the Keeper Grandmother, who watches over the entrance to the Land of Spirits, and the young boy was sobbing in great sorrow. Keeper Grandmother asked him why he grieved so, and the young boy replied that his people were dying and that he wished for them to be given life.

So, Nutemhuma told Creator about the young boy, and having pity on the boy and our Lenape'wak, he decided to send Nanapush to teach them medicine and healing

Now, Nanapush came, and he was instructed by Creator to restore the young boy to life. So, he made a lodge and covered it, then he made a fire and gathered 12 rocks, heating them until they were red hot. Nanapush put the young boy's body in the lodge and then brought in the re hot rocks and closed the door. The rocks were glowing brightly in the darkness and now Nanapush poured water on them, creating much steam, and invoking the Creator and the Spirits to help him. The rocks were the boy's body, the fire his inner fire, the water his blood, the steam his breath. With Spirit came life, and Keeper Grandmother sent his Spirit back into his body; the boy was alive once again, restored, whole and healthy!

Now, in remembrance of this, as a symbol of sacredness, and the fragility of life that the people might be reminded of thus and that they might hold the gift of life close to their hearts and not take it for granted, the Creator set strawberries upon the earth. The red of the strawberry is the red of blood, which is life, and all life, like the strawberry, grows to maturity, gives forth seed and new life, and then is gone. However, even though death touches all life in winter, the strawberry leaves are green there under the snow, a symbol of the Creator's promise of the continuation of life even after death.

The leaves of the strawberry were given in threes, representing birth, life and death; also the 3 clans of our Lenape'wak, the Wolf, Turtle and Turkey. As long as we remember clan and family, and the ways of our ancestors, like the strawberry we too shall live through the coming winters.

So, the young boy, being given new life, was given a new name, Wate'him, 'Strawberry'. Nanapush gave him a naming ceremony to honor and bless him before the Creator and all of creation.

Wate'him, having experienced the mystery of life and death, had been given special gifts and a special purpose. The Creator had instructed Nanapush to teach the boy the way of medicine and healing, and so he did. First, Nanapush taught him about the sweat lodge, original instructions from the Creator, the meanings in its construction and ceremony, and how to use it for purification and healing. However, Nanapush knew that it would require more than the sweat lodge alone to bring health back to the people. So, they fasted and prayed for guidance in vision to help the Lenape grandchildren from the ravages of the dread sickness which was upon them.

Nanapush was given vision, and in his vision he saw an otter, kuna'moxk, in the water. It was sick and had a plant in its mouth. Then some large waves washed over the otter and it disappeared. The water became still and the otter reappeared, with the plant in its mouth, looking strong and healthy. He was cured.    Nanapush woke from his vision and he took Wate'him into the forest with him. Going to a certain place and looking for the plant he had seen in his vision, he soon found it. The plant was sukaxkuk chipik, the black snake root, and the 2 dug some up to take back with them.

Celestial Moment:

10 is the Wheel of Fortune in Tarot and with the ups and downs of life, it's a good time to connect with the Protective energy of Archangel Michael. 10 reduces down to 1 and 1 is the Energy of the Day. If it happens to be your birthday, then it's your lesson number for the whole year.

The energy of the day is 1. The number of fresh starts and new beginnings that is ruled by the SUN. The Eagle is the first card of the Medicine Cards and it is the power of the Great Spirit, the connection to the Divine.

Our root chakra is the first energy center located at the base of the spine relates to our most basic survival needs and our sense of belonging. When we find ourselves on shaky ground, we go to the root and settle down. 1 also reveals itself as the Magician in Tarot Cards and the Magician’s ruling planet is Mercury better known as the messenger of the Gods.

The Magician utilizes all the elements (Fire, Earth, Air and Water) at his or her disposal to bring forth manifestation. The letters connected to the number 1 are A, J, and S so words like Abundance and Jubilant and Shine reflect the powerful energy contained in the number 1.

TO KNOW TO BECOME

Conscious Portal

"The Medicine Wheels teach of the Lodge of Introspection. Its color is black. Black denotes change, to some, and to others dwelling there it is the place of deep thought, and the terms of death are there to converse with, to learn from and make relationship with. The beauty and the power of the Lodge of Introspection is its position in the West facing the rising sun, in the East. The Lodge of Illumination is in the East. That view keeps one alive, or by choice the initiate may close their eyes to the light, thus rendering themselves blind, and captive in the Western lodge..."  ~ Dawn Wolf, Keeper of Stories  1.27.13

AT WORK IN YOUR LIFE

Seven Stone People

It is by no mistake that stones were used as the visual, and the corresponding energy to accompany the quote, "No soul is desolate as long as there is a human being for whom it can feel trust and reverence." from T.S. Eliot's pen, and life force. The Stone People are receptive storytellers and containers of memories of stories they've witnessed and held many a millennium. The Stone People sit upon the Earth, our Mother, or nestle beneath her, or live in the Waters of the World as witnesses holding countless stories. Their abilities are their responsibility ours is to be receptive, and listen to the Stone People.

Didn't Jesus say that if people don't praise and honor the Creator the rocks would cry out praise for the Creator? Yes, it is true.  The Stone People are deep in their responsibilities caring for their understandings. Let us live in the depth of our spiritual responsibilities, and abilities the Creator gave us. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 7.25.13

STONE TALK

Glenis Fay Tinirau with family March 25, 2012

Kia Ora, I would like to share with you all an experience that happened yesterday morning with me.

A friend of mine who does Astrology picked me up to go to Cape Hillsborough to visit another friend staying by the beach there. On the way as she was driving down the range my hands started moving and doing all these wave movements and making like animal shapes and also my breathing changed to like swooshing and blowing out. When i looked out the side window there were these big beautiful rock formations and it flew out of my mouth that it was lizard energy. When we got to the bottom my body had bent over like being an old person and my friend said to me that i had picked up on the energy.

We drove along a few more kilometres and my hands started up again doing all these movements and there again in front of us was another rock formation. This time it came out of my mouth that it was rainbow serpent energy. When i got home i said karakia and lay down and slept for a few hours.

This has also happened to me when my hubby and i were home last year on holiday down the South Island when he was driving us along Lake Hawea my hands started doing all these movements that i couldn't stop until the rock formations were out of my sight. I have had a lot of other experiences that has happened to me since 2009. ~  Glenis Fay Tinirau 5.28.13

MEDICINE OF THE STONES

There is a supreme elegance enhanced by the simple movements, and gestures we do and make in thoughtful moments. In the expression of who we are we often don't think about the simplicity of highly crafted jewelry as sacred, or how it (the stones) connects us to the Earth, our Mother, but it does, and we are who we come from. No matter how haughty the wearer the stones do only what they know how to do: connect us to our Mother, who we are, and the dream of the Earth Songs around us, within us, and beneath our feet.” – Gregory E. Woods 10.21.12

Together to understand

The Old Crones Corner

I am sharing William Stokes words this afternoon:

"We are all on this Earth created to live together. Through periods of opposition to this reality, we have come to today. Today is actually a time of Oneness. From duality we become one. From opposing each other we are unified. This is the command of Creation. But we hold to old thoughts and we attach our intention to things that are real yet supercilious. We must court compassion and forgiveness. The Age of Oneness calls for our focus to be on unifying and purifying purification comes from forgiveness and recognizing the God in you that is in all of us. We all must give up something and that which we give up is essential for Forever. We are Forever Beings."
