WYOMA'S face in the light. February 4 , 2014 |
"Some faces you look within and other faces you look at, or gaze upon with awe. The ones you look into are drawn from and into specific lines of wisdom devoid of the trivia of popular culture's insistence upon the preservation of its feelings. The depth of those faces have eyes that have seen into the creative processes, and bodies that have danced in those sacred spaces with other dancers, other creators and magical peoples. We cannot live well without those faces belonging to those bodies that belong to those souls bound, freed and connected to the sources that keep the flow from the Waters of Life in the existence of the mundane and the engaged.
What I look at when I 'see' into the beauty of your face speaks to the harmonies that unravel the contradictions that keep people from loving themselves, and each other." - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 2.19.14

African healing dance training teaches the principles and practices of deep presence through movement, voice, breath and writing, acceptance and compassion for oneself and others.
Through these practices, you allow deep healing - this is the dance of life! Experience rejuvenation from dances of Senegal, Guinea, Nigeria, Ghana, Haiti, and the Orisha dances. This is alignment of body, mind, spirit through African dance and improvisation. Practitioners learn to cultivate unconditional presence, acceptance, and compassion.
The combination of rich traditions and present-moment minding the gap provide powerful practice while following the 4 Basic Principles:
Deep breath
Slow down
Feel your feelings
Speak and Dance your truth
Comprehensive Training is designed to be a 2 year program, weaved together by a series of 7- day intensives. When a practitioner completes 1 year of training, he/she will gain the important foundation knowledge of African healing dance.
Year 2 elevates practice to the Advanced level.
First 3-month training module begins February 23, 2014 in Hampton Virginia
