I remembered the importance of Sankofa (an Akan concept) and something I learned from wise women: a ceremony of recapitulation.
Sankofa is a bird always depicted looking backwards its beak holding an egg its tail feathers. The proverb of this bird is simple. “Se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi," which translates "It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten." The ceremony of recapitulation is action. You'd have to seat and write about every sexual experience in your life in detail, and as you write or speak take back the energies you gave, or were taken from you. The logic and the reason for this is simple. Think about why that is. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11.23.13
