POWER & SILENCE UNDER THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION

"A wise human walking among the ignorant in silence is no different than the ignorant themselves." -Unknown

How many Americans were silent during the Bush years as one law after another, as pieces of the Constitution was taken away, as privacy was made public, as jobs were outsourced, as the basic right to vote was denied, and pimped to the courts, and the balance of power was knocked out of balance, and illogical slogans were passed off as intelligent responses to complex issues?

How many Christians would rather watch Israel establish an apartheid system over the Palestine people, and remain silent and unengaged in the political arena to stop blood-letting in various parts of the world because ‘it is prophesied that these things will happen in the end times!” How many American Christians would rather sit in the silent comforts of their homes smug in their understanding of the status quo of their church with blood on their hands as they wait for the Messiah? These are disturbing questions and a fundamental flaw of the Church, and the American conservative movement, and our foreign policies in too many instances.

That being said I ask myself, “Are my hands clean?” – Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories
