Washington DC is a city of contrasts and contradictions. Musicians and other artists including healers have a helluva time living in a city that needs them but doesn't really know where to place them, or really compensate them. It is an odd statement but the reality of it is lived everyday by artists like Allyn Johnson & Lori Anne Williams . These two musicians have devolped with intelligence a niche that affords them a life to create some incredible music, develop a following, and get paid.
It takes work, and ingenuity to make a living in this area as a musician. More often than not one has to expand the medium to include other God-given gifts to give the music gift a lot more places to perform. The choices grow with each encounter with someone impressed and moved by your music, and your relationship with your music. Each venue pulls, in this small town, from every class, and type of person the city houses and attracts. Congressmen, fire fighters, government workers, students, retail clerks, church folks, lawyers, street cats, and others support the arts in a town that takes its power from a relentless work ethic that tries to be resilent, and hard working without rest, true reflection. - Gregory E.
