The above photo is one of me at a PowWow at the University of Maryland in 2008. I am on the left carrying a medicine stick. An African-Indian woman insisted I dance for the People whose blood runs in my veins. It is important, she said, for African-Native Americans to dance, perform our ceremonies, and speak for those who have forgotten who they are, and lost contact with their Ancestors. So I dance for the People. I smoke for the People, and speak for those without their Voice. I am Alowan Chanteh Inyan Wichasha (Heart Song Stone Man) Keeper of Stories. AHO!
