Candus Guitierrez a Southern Belle

“Now here is what has transpired in the south. The arduous journey southern white women have made has been long and dangerous. Fraught with compromise after the Civil War it looked bleak the future, and envisioning a different outcome in the future was outside of the realm of possible in the 1870's and into the next century. Now after meeting you, Candus, getting to know you more over the last few years, and doing ceremony with you I have developed a deep respect for the woman you are, the women you represent, the women you are raising, and the dream of what is possible. The best of the South is within you, and the depth of your impact ripples today, and tomorrow others will find the waters of your soul on their sandy beaches.

Your journey brims with beauty, fun, courage, mysticism, and power! It touches my core, and has called into question my own inconsistencies as a man, and brought light to the Teacher within me. All of these things have been caught in a moment in time. In the long expanse of history, and in the role you play as a businesswoman, a Wisdom Keeper, a friend, a mother, and a participant in the dance, and challenge of Life you find the time to play.

You are a Teacher teaching men and daughters to look at Beauty with different eyes; to understand that power is not force it is a force, and a presence not unlike or separate from Love, and loving oneself. You tell angry revolutionaries to shift their focus, and engage in processes that will bring good will, and fellowship, and create community! You give voice, and credence to the Butterfly, and her medicine like no other. This is my story. This is what I learned from you. I am Dawn Wolf, Keeper of Stories.”
