A TRUE STORY OF A GOAN COUPLE

This is a story of a couple from Porvorim.

There was a girl named Sanmita who used to fear falling in love because she has seen her mother's suffering. This girl had lost her father when she was 13 and her mother was left all alone with her memories & Stolen Moments !! Her father used to smoke a lot and because of smoking he suffered from cancer and died!

It's true no one knows destiny. This girl Sanmita who used to fear love and hate smokers has fallen in love with one of her classmates named Rahul, who was a chain smoker. She used to tell her father's story to Rahul everytime they met expecting him to quit smoking. She realized that he started avoiding her because his friends used to tease him whenever he used to smoke with them. Sanmita wanted to see him happy so she stopped objecting to him, and just after 3 months of their relationship she realized that he is suffering from a lung disease called emphysema due to smoking.

Rahul fell seriously ill. His treatment started, and it continued for 2 years. Many times his health became so bad doctors thought he would die!! But, it was Sanmita's love who kept him alive and he recover. For 2 years she spent all her time with him in the Bambolim hospital. She stopped going to college, she fought with parents, invested all her pocket money, and thus she defined love!

The Boy recovered and has quit smoking!! He married Sanmita, and now they both are living together!! He always feels guilty for not listening to Sanmita earlier. He now gives one message to everyone "Do 100 things that friends asks you to do, but please don't do at-least that 1 thing that your love don't want you to do ..

Friends, I will not say smoking is dangerous for health because that is already written on the box of smoke, but i will like to tell you that you started smoking for yourself now quit it for someone who loves you!! Next time when your Love, or your parents ask you not to smoke recall this True Love Story, and answer yourself that do you want them to suffer for a mistake that you are doing today?" - author unknown

A good story, but stories beneath the surface, and behind the pathos and melodrama are areas of concern. The girl, Sanmita is the the type of broken lover much like Cinderella in need of rescue. Women, and men who love  from brokenness attract brokenness and seldom heal. They bond through circumstances never learning to unlearn. Should children enter their union God help them. It becomes hereditary, and in time part of their DNA.

The young man in the story is a pitiful example of want and need. He needs pity, and Sanmita was more than willing to escort him to the shadow of death not with restorative energies, not with the healing aspects hidden, and an integral part of her Womb, but with an assortment of energies incapable of protecting. All she had was the dream of pain and the whinning and pitiful way of a victim.

This is a good story, but the dysfunction supporting the pillars of the story are either seen, explored and become the impetus for changing what does not work, or the story is a supportive crutch removing the need to become warrior-like in the endeavors of the heart. - Gregory E.
