9/11, Bullshit and Denial.

I have the talent and the eye of a good photographer, but when I was coming up as a child it was impolite to take pictures traveling and living in various countries. Americans were intrusive. After the Korean war and the other wars waged by the mid-20th century, people were weary of American intrusion passing itself as diplomacy. So, I learned to interpret the visual with sound and words over the length of my decades.  In short, I studied. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories (9/10/18)

Gangsta chicks like this are a version of masculinity that submits to crude male belief in the dominance of the dick over pussy. It is a self-inflicted wound from deep wounds to the soul, and it is at the crux of the ideology of survival within poverty all across this country. - Dawn Wolf, Keeper of Stories 9/11/18

Chola in her 'Charley Brown'!

Vatos Locos.

Organized gangs are more representative of the soul of America. How are they ignored on September 11, 2018? Easily. As long as we cling to the myth of America we don't see the country as it is to others victimized by our ways of life! What am I thinking of making such a statement?

First of all, I am not caught up in the whining and impish patriotism fluttering about 17 years after those men crashed planes into buildings in New York city, Pennsylvania and D.C., where I was during the attack. Second, I was keenly aware of what these attacks meant beyond the terror of the moment. I saw the opening in a paradigm to change the world, and our worldview to usher in peace on that day within a few hours. There were others, but as the weeks became months it was apparent the chance for peace wasn't going to occur. War-like people have to engage their soul with killing.

It is impossible for white Americans, in particular, to move beyond the immature impulse to remain within the initial stage of shock and disbelief. Seventeen years later, and white Americans still behave in the emotional state immediately after a violent attack. Third thing that stands out is remembering how intently the coverage about the loss of white lives dominated coverage of the event for a long time, and the lack of historical reference to give a proper perspective to the event. To this day, the world silently breaths in contempt for the melodrama of September 11 remembrance events.

I know I do.

How does the chief among predatory forces illicit pity from other countries whose citizens still smart after what we have done to them?

Trump's People, Trump's Support

Confederate flag waving

The KKK Started a Branch Just for Women in the 1920's, and half a million joined #makeamericagreatagain
"Not long after American women won the right to vote, a woman in Greene County, Indiana received an invitation to hear a lecture. All “the better known and educated women” had been asked to come, so naturally, she accepted. The topics ranged from the Bible and the importance of education, to upholding “the American way.” The lecturer, also a woman, then asked the group if they would like to join a secret society dedicated to protecting those things...
Women have long been overlooked and under credited, and their contribution to horror is no exception. The 1920s marked the heyday of the Women of the Klu Klux Klan... Headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas, with delegates in every state, the organization’s numbers reached half a million during this decade.
... “Women were major actors in the Klan, responsible for some of its most vicious, destructive results,” writes Kathleen Blee inWomen of the Klan. According to Blee, the organization was chillingly effective — perhaps even more so than their male counterparts — in large part because they were better at public relations. (One of the women involved in the founding of the WKKK had originally been enlisted by the KKK to help clean up its image).
If the WKKK was more successful in advancing their xenophobic agenda, it was because they were better than the men’s group at hiding their white supremacist mission behind a facade of social welfare. “Are you interested in the Welfare of our Nation? As an Enfranchised woman are you interested in better government? Should we not interest ourselves in better education for our children?” their pamphlets read. They organized parades and food drives, with the benefits often funneled directly to Klan families. Drawing from the church-supper tradition, their gatherings could, on first glance, be mistaken for sorority events. One Indiana woman Blee interviewed described them as “a way to get together and enjoy.” But simultaneously they lobbied for national quotas for immigration, racial segregation, and anti-miscegenation laws — and proselytized the “eternal supremacy” of the white race as an opposition to the “rising tide of color.”
The WKKK served to normalize the extremist actions of the men’s KKK, but also advanced a version of the white Protestant agenda that was all their own. As increasing numbers of immigrants crossed the United States borders simultaneous with women’s suffrage, the WKKK’s nativism mingled with a strange breed of feminism. Their pamphlets announced “new days of freedom” for women. The male KKK wasn’t on board. They fiercely opposed changes in gender roles and used the symbol of the white damsel in distress to galvanize racist fury. Black men were a threat to their pure, Protestant women, and the KKK would protect them. This trope was most starkly captured by the scene of D.W. Griffith’s 1915 pro-KKK film, Birth of a Nation, where a white woman heroically leaps off a cliff to avoid being tainted by a black man (played by a white actor in blackface)...
As the 1920s came to a close, the racism and violence of both the KKK and WKKK became harder to conceal. As one WKKK leader admitted in The New York Times, “the actual working out of the ideals has not been so good.” By the end of the decade, the organization had dispersed, though no doubt, the women continued to channel their xenophobic ideologies into other forms of civic engagement such as PTAs, school boards, and local and national politics."

Take it all in . . .

Wild rider . . .

"Would you grab my hips and fuck me?" is what she asked for. If you take it what kind of man are you? If you don't what have you passed up?  These are fundamental questions to your manhood and who you are. Unasked, you are left with what of yourself unanswered? - Gregory E. ART to Body.

body art of a brown sista, Candice Shields.

Myself in a sentence: I am a bubbly, athletic goofball with a heart of gold.

Occupation: sales

Hometown: Tampa, FL

The design and themes of my tattoos: I love tribal tattoos, so my tribal piece is quite extensive. I like tattoos that flow with the curves of my body and are powerful.

More specifics about my tattoo: I tend to get tattoos when something significant happens in my life. Therefore, maybe of my pieces are done for therapy and closure.

My favorite tattoo and the story behind it: My first tattoo is of an orange cancer ribbon with a princess crown on top. My sister Alexis (Lexi) is a cancer survivor. I am blessed to be able to support my sister and childhood cancer with this piece .

My next tattoo: My next tattoo is a tribal piece which means family.

Candice Shields' body art.

superb body art of Jessiele Nguyen.

Myself in a sentence: I'm just an awkwardly clumsy yet coy sexy college grad trying to make it in the modeling world while staying true to myself.

Occupation: Behavioral Modification Specialist

Hometown: Sacramento

The design and themes of my tattoos: I am an emotional person, all my tattoos have meaning and give a story of how I felt during that time of my life... I design my own tattoos, wrote all my own quotes and poems etc....wit the exception of one.

More specifics about my tattoo: My tattoos range from demonic and dark to pretty and light. Very eclectic, just like me.

My favorite tattoo and the story behind it: My favorite tattoo is the poem on my right shoulder. I wrote it when I was 17 on the 5th anniversary of my mother's passing. Poetry and art are outlets for me, I write in times I feel close to self destruction. The poem is about me waiting in a field for a Lillie to bloom....but it never does. That was my mother's name.

My next tattoo: A witch doing a séance on a Quiji board with two grim reapers behind her.

LOVE: a warrior's teacher

A love warrior. Is there a correlation between love and war? Are the two compatible? Does one need the other for survival, or justification? Gives me something to ponder because for me during the battles I lived through as a police officer years ago I found ways to extend love and love and see the sacred within lives in the midst of violence and blood. Being loving in a violent swirl of dangerous men has none of the sentimentality of a romance novel. It has to do with a warrior's aptitude for depth and commitment. Love is part of an innate ability to restore one from the rigors of being violent protecting others lives. For the warrior detached from sentimentality something is developed that connects some warriors to a depth unimaginable for ordinary people and for men it is a love we have to measure against our mother's love where the patterns for understanding and being loved originate from in this lifetime.

Self-Destructive By Design

“When your 'dream come true', your Beloved sends you away multiple times does that mean something? Time doesn't heal all wounds. How does, or does a soul recover from that? If her love and spirit, ever a part of your essence, is as alive as the first day what counsel is there for the heart still singing her songs? If love is eternal where it lives what does it become without reciprocation?” - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 12.21.12

TWO

There is a poster that reads, "We've raised enough niggas and thugs time to raise some kings!"

One woman said aloud, "Do they know how?"

I thought a moment and said, "By your question, which I take seriously, I can easily assume the onus is upon other people to raise better children. I've learned how to raise 'good' children who are above average now adults living with their own integrity because of how I was parented, and I enjoy sharing what I know, but this is not an American preoccupation. It should be but culturally we are not advancing in the art of developing children. We are more into warehousing and categorizing our children. Development is too deep an art in our country, it seems, and to many Americans outside of their priorities and belief systems."

Crow Woman

THREE

There is a story out about a Black girl who quickly and viciously beat a girl and became an insight celebrity because someone recorded it and posted it online. The police are part of this girl's life because another girl apparently committed suicide as a result of the beating. To date what I've read there are no particulars, but the girl who beat the other girl is letting her 20,000 Twitter followers know about how "... she don't give a fuck!"

No need to comment on this story. It is very much an American pastime and it is deeply embedded in Black culture and applauded.  Only thing that should be done is corrective, but if a people and a person are uninterested in changing or maturing what can you do? If someone wants to die there is little I will do for them. What can you do? To want to die is to want nothing. This girl and millions like her seek nothing, and to seek nothing is to seek death which, is the one thing people like her are typically afraid of, and don't understand in terms, and agreements of relationship.

This is a warrior's stance I am speaking from and the crudeness that celebrates this behavior calls itself a nigger and defends that assertion wholeheartedly  A healer of any race, or tribe and discipline is and will always be baffled by the nigger mentality because it devours itself. There are so many healing tools and healing modalities available to this girl, her family and community and to her people, and niggers, but if not so inclined a healer worthy of his/her craft has no choice but to leave her and them to die unto and within themselves. ~ Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11.29.13

NAUGHT & NICE TO ME

The overriding question is what is your ideal naughty neighbor?

I was putty in her hands. Mrs. S. (that is her first initial. She is still alive) was sexually interested in me from day one. I was only 19 years old. A virgin, and full of cum, desire, passion and dreams. She was an older white woman with a ruddy complexion, wide and brown expressive eyes, stringy brown hair worn like a wild horses' mane, and a wiry body that seemed to float, and undulate more than anything else. For years I remembered every sensuous move of hers, and for the longest time could recall every time she came physically close to pulling me down, and in between her sheets, or legs, and failed. Her breath stayed with me, and on command I could conjure it and every other sensation she inspired within me to the surface. I could bring it alive with ease.

She was not a discriminating woman. She didn't wave any politics in the air. She like living in Africa. She took care of her children, and her husband well enough. They loved her, but she made little effort to hide her burning desire to fuck my brains out, and leave me senseless on the floor. I wanted in her real bad. I ached for it, but was held and bound by a commitment to something higher and stronger than Mrs. S.'s formidable sexual powers.

Her presence, her insistence, her raging passion, her suggestions, and the sweet subtle scents that stirred me when she'd part her legs when seated in front of me created enormous tensions. She pulled at my loins without ever touching them. She'd look at them, and with every inch of her body, and every expression on her face told me how much she wanted me in her, on top of her, behind her. She was an incredible lover in my dreams of her. She made those dreams torturous because it would have taken no effort to be her lover. No effort at all. All I had to do was submit. And had I she would have made me into a particular type of man her being the first.

I will never know what would have become of me, or what I'd have felt like at the end of the relationship given the type of initiation I had at 14 and 15 years of age, and the way I loved, and thought of myself. I'll never know how she, and her pussy, her loving, her attention to my soul, the danger, and the pleasure of it all would have rippled into my life, and the Medicines I was to carry.

Thinking about it now raised my heart rate. - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 4.3.13

SHADOWS within the Goddess

PART 35

"The tendency of men is to shrug off the fear of, and the notion of enraged women. It is a manly thing to do, and typical of us all because a woman’s rage somehow finds a way of finding us out. The first fear within any man is the fear of her rage becoming intuitive and finding our shadows and inconsistencies. If she does, and is related to us in some capacity it is even more a burden of fear. As a reaction we do the same thing cats do when embarrassed. We pretend to be doing something else. But unlike cats we tend to say dumb meaningless things to assuage our uneasiness." - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 3.22.13

Excellence & Hope Against Vacuity

Gerald McCorkle, I met the first year I was married to Renee. I was a microfilm photographer for the National Archives. Conversing with Gerald broadened my horizons. He was already ten years into his marriage, had a home and a perspective on life as a Black man that engaged my quest to fit in the work place at a young age. I remarked to myself then how elegant he was, and certain of himself in an environment of strict attention to detail best described as a culture with an intentional adherence to the supremacy of being white male academics. Gerald had a  keen sense of how to get what he needed without compromising his dignity and his self-worth was not measured by a standard outside of himself. He has always been intellectually challenging to his own designs and skilled probing into others. He spoke clearly with a scant accent that acknowledged his Black American upbringing and an inflection of a literate, thoughtful, and well read man.

His interest in developing young minds has followed him the course of his life. I saw that a few years ago when I was setting up my instruments for a small gig at the Potter's House in Adams Morgan in Washington DC. I was surprised to see him after a few decades there producing shows in that venue and recording artists of the hip hop genre in the metropolitan area. Today, he friended (what a word) me on Facebook.

The first thing I saw on his page intrigued me. It was a picture, or a doctored photo of a young Black man, EJ Green, all 'tatted up', both hands up 'giving the bird' (middle finger up) with a studied look of disdain a lot of young Black cats, and millions of people the world around accept as the stance of Black men from the 'hood. The young man was seeking affirmations about the picture because it was to be his album cover for a new project. The only response came from an obviously young cat who simply said, "Get me hipp." (whatever that means I don't know). I had to respond.

Little brother, the image leaves me with a profound let down, a deep sadness unattached to hope. The art work is deeply immersed in the crudeness of a dejected spirit without hope. I know a lot of young cats wallow in it, but it goes against the African tradition of sound, movement and color.

It is from a profound source artists, poets, musicians, writers come from, but the responsibilities of the creative people has been to uplift consciousness, even in anger, from the deeper levels of lower expectations into the higher rungs, where things get done, where life is formed and vision is raised.

I started out professionally as a musician in North Africa at the tender, but exciting age of 19. Tutored by older cats the first things they taught me I just shared with you. Actually, the magic of music and my parent's lives taught me that. But, the deepest lesson was the 'how' of the art of translating Spirit through my physical body into sound. At this level of performance every genre of music from anywhere in the world I played music from fundamentally transformed (in this order) me, the listener, and the worlds around us seen and unseen! You see the momentum of sound joins other sounds creating a vortex of sensual and explosive and powerful and penetrating probes into the place all music comes from. Every expression is a real experience accessible to any life form, and any form of art and music. I know it isn't an American approach to sound, but here in the States the best of musicians, and the masters come to this place in every genre.

My word to you, young blood, is to arise. You obviously come from the same place the masters come from.

- Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 1.25.14

January 14 , 2014

An hour or so later I re-visited his page because it is on Gerald's wall and my contribution was deleted, and in its place he wrote. "Sir, I don't know you so can you delete this shit off my page?!"

"Pity, young man, that you know so little about the business of music, and exchange. It will cost you in this business to be narrow in perspective confining yourself to the small circle of people you know. You are trying to get into the music game with your eyes closed. I am sorry for what you don't know, and are unwilling to know. I gave you gift... And I was interested in hearing your music."

"I wish I could tell my mom that I love her everyday. I think about her as much as she probaly thinks about me. I mean, hell, I would think about my firstborn... I don't live with regrets, just wish I did things differently because you don't learn from regrets, only mistakes. Having said that... I wish our relationship was different and not where it is today. (You are a beautiful woman, mama)" - Ej GreenAugust 12, 2013

DEFEND yourself

Sometimes the only thing a woman has is the strength to have the attitude and the posture that tells the world, and men to 'go fuck themselves'. The word and the phrase are wrought with contradictions, and subtle implications of disdain not only for the recipient of her dismissal, but for his body. To contort a body into a position to have sexual intercourse with one's self is the grossest kink of manipulation.

Written upon the palm of a hand where the soul and one's life force can be read the words, "GO FUCK YOURSELF" send the most malefic force of energy into the consciousness dimming the awareness of what isn't, but could be brilliant and useful in a man's life. If man doesn't get the suggestion to leave a woman alone, and the words, "Leave me alone" don't get the expected response, and the middle finger thrust into his face don't get it, and the words written on the palm of her left hand, which goes to a woman's heart, doesn't stop advancement he, the man, deserves to be stabbed by the woman.

He has lost respect for the woman he comes from, and dismissive of the mother of his life is the terror and disgust his life engineers in other women. If a man does not grasp these things why is he allowed to live by men who do, and will protect and kill, if necessary, the Predator? - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 12.30.12

A New Day

Art by Steve Smith
Nov. 16, 2012

There is a phrase commonly used that upon short examination is misleading. You use it. Most people do.  I understand why. It is the way the word 'technology' is used. All of a sudden (within the last decade) the word technology, and the evidence of technology and how it is thought of substitutes its vastness to simply refer to cellular phones, and IPADS, and such. The word usage has taken on a life force of its own. As an adult it either pains me or annoys me hearing children restricting language because of the narrow focus they are lead to believe is the totality of what technology encompasses. Men and women have been developing technologies since the earliest days of our arrival upon the Earth. The spiritual, scientific, pragmatic and practical technologies were dreamt and designed to answer questions and ease physical labor, or extend one's outreach beyond the narrow scope of the seen. In the 20th century the technology developed in the kitchen alone is staggering in its magnitude and to date has not stopped.

Technologies begin as an expansive dream, merge into ideas, and become the creative and often hard work of making manifest an idea from the mist of the intangible, but possible into the machines that work for us, or into the way of facilitating communication, which has been the drive of mankind for the length of our time on this planet. So, what is technology? It is the mechanisms that make our lives easier, our hands freer with the hope of giving us more time to meditate, explore, study and apply our knowledge. So much of our technologies took leisure from the hands of the wealthy, and gave to the poor the luxury of free time the wealthy believed was theirs alone. With such a gift it is often disappointing how free time and freed hands are today bound by a technology designed to offer some freedom to explore the other planes of our existence.  - Gregory E. Woods, Keeper of Stories 11.7.13

Quote of the day:

actress Jennifer Lawrence
October 3, 2013

Jennifer Lawrence to Hollywood's Diet Police "Go F*** Yourself"

In the upcoming November issue of Harper's Bazaar UK, Jennifer Lawrence speaks about the time she was labeled as "fat" by producers and told that if she didn't lose weight, she'd be risking her career.

Lawrence, who won this year's Oscar for best actress, went into detail about the experience to the magazine.

It was just the kind of shit that actresses have to go through. Somebody told me I was fat, that I was going to get fired if I didn't lose a certain amount of weight. They brought in pictures of me where I was basically naked, and told me to use them as motivation for my diet. They thought that because of the way my career had gone, it wouldn't still hurt me.

After dealing with this horrific experience, she mentioned how she now deals with hearing the word "diet."

If anybody even tries to whisper the word 'diet', I'm like, 'You can go fuck yourself.'

Lawrence's refusal to diet certainly hasn't ruined her career. She has The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and American Hustle coming up, not mention tons of announced projects including her first go at producing. In Lawrence's words, go fuck yourself haters, her body and her career are doing wonderfully as is.
